É necessário ressaltar que não se trata de criticar as redes sociais ou refletir através da sociologia crítica o embate entre grupos sociais, mas de explorar as tensões existentes no aspecto abstrato, no mundo conceitual que formula a alteridade tanto do cientista quanto da comunidade indígena, configurando-se, assim, em um exercício de análise simétrica. / My intention in this research is to explore the networks of relations (institutional, politics or \"naturals\") or, in other words, the sociability itself; as a consequence of the archeological practice in an indigenous territory; also, to contrast the anthropological debate regarding alterity. It is necessary to highlight that this work do not aim to criticize social networks or to reflect through critical sociology the tensions between social groups, but to explore the existing strains in the abstract arena, in the conceptual world that shows the alterity of the researches and also of the indigenous community, conforming a symmetrical analysis exercise. 3	Mer än valkyrior : En omtolkning av vikingatidens feminina figuriner / More than Valkyries : A re-interpretation of Viking Age Female Figurines Wihlborg, Julia January 2019 (has links) Figurines with a human shape have been created in almost every culture all throughout human history. In this thesis one such group of figurines is under investigation, Viking age female figurines. These figurines are most often interpreted as representations of the Valkyries – shieldmaidens of the god Odin – or as the goddess Fröja. Interpretations made through comparative studies with the medieval written sources. However, these interpretations always privileges some attributes of the figurines over others, creating simplified and general interpretations. The purpose of this thesis is to (re)interpret the figurines beyond the concept of representation, and instead focus on what the figurines, through their various attributes (size, motive, material), do and how they influence human actions. This is realized through the creation of a catalogue of all currently known female figurines from the Viking age (53 pieces), a correspondence analysis and through the use of symmetrical archaeology and embodiment theory. The result shows that the most important attributes of the figurines is their physical bodies, through which they can interact with the world, trigger emotions, hold memory, become animated and be part of the performative practice of upholding individual identity as well as upholding both the social- and cosmological worlds. Bergström, Philip January 2016 (has links) This dissertation investigates how a symmetrical approach to archaeology can be applied to identify the properties and effects of the non-living, abiotic materials. And to reconfigure the relationship between humans and non-human objects, bridging the divide between what has been termed ‘cultural’ and ‘natural’ and thus placed in different ontological realms. This is examined by studying the practices surrounding “boulder graves”, from the Late Bronze Age - Early Iron Age (approx. 1000 – 0 BC) in Kättsta, Ärentuna parish in Uppland, Sweden. The boulders tend to be studied from an anthropocentric point of view, in which they are seen primarily as passive objects, interpreted only for what they represent. The objective of this research, however, is to gain new insights into the agency of boulders, and how they contributed to the practices carried out adjacent to them. The dissertation is based on a case study where a thematic analysis is performed, focusing on the properties and characteristics of boulders, their affordances, the distribution of finds and their interrelations, and the effects their relations generated. The results show that the boulders themselves contributed in human-stone relations and were vital in the formation of the grave-like features they became part of. It is argued that a symmetrical, non-anthropocentric approach to these features will broaden our view on materialities in the past, affording ontological as well as ecological implications.
