A Survey on the Distribution and Reservation of Mangroves in Tainan County and City

Tu, Tung-hsien 25 July 2005 (has links)
Mangroves, the woody plants, mainly grow in tropical or subtropical intertidal estuaries. In order to adapt to the environment of intertidal estuaries, mangroves develop the special characteristics of ¡§aerial roots¡¨, ¡§prop roots¡¨, ¡§viviparous seeds¡¨, and simpler plant groups. In Taiwan, mangroves mostly grow in the west coast, from Danshui to Pingdong. Mangrove forests, which have long be called as ¡§sea forest¡¨, are the unique ecological landscapes. This study aims to investigate the main mangrove forests areas in the Tainan City and Tainan County and their cultivating situations. The investigation areas include the mouths of the main rivers, coastal areas, salt fields, fishponds, and coastal marshes. The dominant components of Taiwan¡¦s mangroves are Avicennia marina¡]Forsk.¡^Vierh¡]Vierbenaceae¡^, Kandelia obovata Sheue,Liu¡®Yong¡ARhizophora stylosa Griff¡]Rhizophoraceae¡^and Lumnitzera racemosa Willd¡]Combretaceae¡^. Besides, there are 90 associated plants of the mangroves, which belong to 30 families and 76 genera. After investigating, it reveals that Avicennia marina is the more superior specie; Lumnitzera racemosa and Rhizophora stylosa mostly exist in Tainan City, while their cultivating groups can only be found in Shuangchun District in Tainan County; Kandelia obovata is mainly found in Tainan County, and scattered in Sihcao and the bank of Yanshuei stream in Tainan City. Protected areas have been set up in Beimen and Cigu of Tainan County and Sihcao of Tainan City. Man-made conservation areas include Shuangchun in Tainan County and An-ping harbor area in Tainan City. The mangrove plants existing in the areas mentioned above grow well. Moreover, people in Tainan City also plant many mangroves privately. Because of diking fishponds and quickly developing cities in past few years, many mangroves have disappeared. The previous investigations about the mangroves in Southern Taiwan were focused more on Kaohsiung area than in Tainan City and County. For this reason, hopefully the results of this study can make the information of the mangrove forests in the west coast of Taiwan more complete. Three suggestions about the conservation and cultivation of mangroves are listed as follows: (a) keeping the watercourses smooth, (b) deliberately evaluating the cultivation areas, and (c) increasing the habitats in the tidal zones.

The Study of School-based Curriculum Development in Junior High Schools in Tainan City

Chao, Ko-chung 10 January 2006 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to explore the development of the school-based curriculum in junior high schools in Tainan City. The strategy adopted for analysing this study is to consider literature review, document analysis, and interviews. Besides, analyize the curriculum contents in junior high schools in Tainan City in the 93 academic year.In addition, four academic directors at junior high schools in Tainan were selected to do the interview. They were required to verbalize their thoughts and feelings in the task. Their interviews were then transcribed, and the data were further identified, categorized, and defined. The findings were categorized into three major categorizes,SWOT analysis, curriculum development organization, and curriculum contents. The above study allows us to reach the following conclusions¡G 1¡B The committees of the school-based curriculum development in junior high schools in Tainan City have been founded by the regulations. 2¡B The school-based curriculums in junior high schools in Tainan City have been arranged by the regulations. And everything goes according to plan. However, most schools have similar plans,so it¡¦s hard to show the individuality of each school. 3¡B All of the junior high schools in Tainan City have analyzed SWOT, and have established a school vision based on the analysis. 4¡B Most members in junior high schools in Tainan City are vague about the school-based curriculum development. 5¡B The curriculum evaluation in junior high schools in Tainan City needs improving. 6¡B The integrative curriculum is widely accepped by the school-based curriculum in junior high schools in Tainan City. 7¡B Parents in urban areas actively participate in school activities; parents in country areas passively participate in school activities. Community resources are well integrated with the school-based curriculums. 8¡B In spite of the entrance examination, the school-based curriculums have no big differences between junior high schools in Tainan City. The class schedule has much difference between public and private schools. Based on the conclusions, the difficulities our schools have encountered are how to integrate School-Based Curriculum Development with the Basic Achievement Test. The findings obtained from this study attempted to provide concrete suggestions for junior high schools and educational administration agenies, and invite further research in the future.

The feature in post-modern policing thought is to encounter the diverse crime after deconstruction of modern society. Now, the police cannot solve all the crime on their own; therefore, they have to look for the help from civilians. To have effective results, they should cooperate with civilians and focus on the problem-oriented strategy. With this trend of the police reformation, the community-oriented policing becomes the realistic direction in current police science, which they are requested to enter the communities, encourage civilians¡¦ involvement, and then figure out the problem-solving strategy. The police could enjoy the achievement from work and then ensure the happiness and quality of life for community residents. Breaking in from the project ¡§Six Star¡¨, this research studied the relationship between public security network and the happiness of residents. We predict the connection between the two, and hope to create the mode of community public security network and system transplantation, based on the example we implemented in Tainan County Police Bureau Guiren Police Precinct -- ¡§The process of developing neighborhood watch¡¨. The purposes are as follows: 1. Study the current community security network. With the relationship between Community watch and community development, we iron out the composition of social groups and residents interaction as the reference on studying similar organizations and development for later research. 2. Study the connection between social security network and the happiness of residents. Compare the before and after of creating neighborhood watch, and find out whether the fear to crime increased or otherwise, in order to reinforce the value and importance of this study. 3. According to the study result, we could provide relevant recommendations to implemented units and policy-planned organizations as the reference for the typical mode of developing community security network. This study adopted depth interviews (qualitative study) and questionnaire (quantitative study). In the qualitative study, we have interviews for 13 persons, including community leader (town mayor, county councilor, village chief, entrepreneur, etc.), watch captain, and police officers. With the results, we evaluate the position of the development for community watch in the community as well as the practical effect on the community security network. In the quantitative study, we focus on the residents of 4 townships in Guiren Police Precinct. We sent out 450 questionnaires and returned 372; the rate is 82.67%. The non-effective questionnaires are 14 and the effective ones are 358 which is 79.56% of the total amount. We used SPSS PC12.0 Chinese Version software to analyze the data, which include descriptive data analysis (including average, standard deviation, Analysis of Variation, and Regression Analysis), Chi-Square Test, Tabulated Statistics, and Regression Analysis. Furthermore, infer the results of each variable. The study gets the following conclusions: 1. Creating neighborhood watch could build up the warning system to secure the safety of residents. 2. Holding public security seminars through the community watch could get rid of the fear of crime of residents. 3. Developing the neighborhood watch would help the residents get involved to the community security matters. 4. The successful elements of the community watch are good leaders and stable funding. 5. Creating the neighborhood watch becomes the basic request of ¡§secured community¡¨. 6. Promoting the community public security network help improve the alienation between people. 7. After creating the community watch, the interaction between residents increased and activities as well. 8. After creating the community watch, we could build up the community security network system. 9. Government compiles the expenditure in a long term to support the community, and that is the largest expectation for residents. 10. After systematizing the operation of the community watch, the politics could also take part in the activities to create win-win situation. 11. Having security conferences periodically could respond the request of community security. 12. After creating the neighborhood watch, the quality of life in the community could get better. 13. The stronger the relationship in the community security network is, the higher the happiness of the community residents have. Although there are lots of problems in the community, we can¡¦t expect they could be solved overnight. However, ¡§the foundation of success is to get going¡¨; we hope we could at least simplify these problems. The final goal of this study is looking for the possible approaches which make people satisfied and let the government promote easily, especially in the area of community security.

Study on the near-shore fishery resources and management-A case study on Tainan coast

Lin, Yuong-Shiu 22 April 2011 (has links)
This research includes investigations of the ocean water quality of Tainan, its contamination sources and examines its relations to the fishing industry. It also explores the connection between topographical changes and evolution of the Tainan fishing industry and by using relevant information of ocean weather, tidal waves, wind speed, wind direction, and typhoon to study its relatedness to the developments of the fishing industry. It will further look at the role of the government in pollution prevention measures of the ocean, which specific laws and regulations must be setup and put into motion, so it can have a key role and have authoritative power. The quality of the marine environment has obviously deteriorated as the economy developed, and public hazard signals should become a severe issue that the government should face. Marine biological resources are common assets of the humankind and it is closely related to human survival, therefore, marine ecosystem must be properly preserved so it can maintain its most natural state and its resources can be sustained for our next generation to enjoy. The conclusions of this research includes suggestions for planning marine contamination report system and advice the government to set up an award system to encourage local coastal residents and fishermen to establish marine patrol volunteer organizations and report immediately if they discover any oil contamination in the ocean. Also, to target the characteristic of fishing industry depending on natural resources, it offers a suggested direction for important policies of reinforcing environmental protection and resource preservation and recommends putting in as much protective reef as possible within 3 nautical miles, which are designed to stop trawling nets but does not damage fishing gears. It also advocates waste reduction and reuse of recycled items and by following the treatment method for sewage, if we can transform wastes into usable resources and naturally reduce the pressure of further treatments, the proper handling for marine wastes should be cautiously designed in order to directly and effectively resolve the problem of large amount of wastes. It calls upon the government to appropriately develop, use, and sustainably manage the rich marine resources that we possess. In addition to reinforcing marine-related laws and regulations (amendment), it also aims to strengthen the protection and management of marine territory, actively engage in related research and development of marine resource use to enhance the development of our nation¡¦s marine resources, the technology, and its standards. Finally, by investigating from a sustainable use of the ocean point of view, it is possible to explore new directions for the future developments of the fishing industry and propose possible development strategies, and by examining the current condition of Tainan's coastal fisheries resources, it offers relevant resource management plans for industry-related management units and businesses to take into consideration. Our nation has the ability and conditions to develop marine industry and under the demands of international competition and domestic development, a continuation for the marine industry development is of absolute importance and necessity.

Application of coastal radar system for understanding the dynamics of marine fisheries in Tainan waters

Yang, Chih-Shun 08 August 2011 (has links)
Abstract Taiwan is an island country, the topography of the adjacent territorial waters is diversified, multiple ocean currents converge here and there are rich basic production capabilities, all of which give birth to various marine organisms in Taiwan and help to form the favorable conditions for Taiwan to develop its offshore fishery. However, due to the lack of control of the production capabilities of offshore waters in the last few decades, plus the constant upgrading of fishing techniques and methods, as well as the lack of effective management, the fishery resources have been greatly impacted and the total fishery production continues to decline. Fishery resource management needs correct fishing location, fishing effort and catch totals as the scientific basis for fish stock assessment, in order to achieve effective management targets. The greatest problem for the offshore waters of Taiwan is that we could not obtain detailed information on the fishing location, operation time (fishing effort) and catch totals. At present, the above data were all obtained through investigations or by interviewing with captains to fill in report forms. However, out of fear of disclosing trade secrets and owing to omissions, the obtained data could not help in revealing the real fishery resource situation. The Coast Guard Administration of the Executive Yuan integrally established a coast radar system along the coast of Taiwan, which monitors all ships within the scanning area through 24-hour uninterrupted scanning, and digitally records the navigation data on ships. The data contains time, ship number, speed, course, latitude and longitude (location); by sorting out these data, we could discern the actual fishing location of the fishing boats. The objective of this study was to utilize the data collected by the coast radar system to determine the fishing location of the fishing boats, acquire the port entry and exit data of the fishing boats through the security examination system, work out the fishing effort, and by collecting the catch and sales data from five fishery harbors, derive the respective total amount of the 10 main fish species caught, in order to investigate the fishery dynamics of Southern Taiwan sea. Research results show that by applying the coast radar system along with the use of port entry and exit data on the fishing boats recorded in the security examination system, as well as the catch and sales data of the fishing boats, and through comparison of the above data, we could obtain proper estimations of fishing effort and fishing location of the fishing boats, as well as the catch per unit effort (CPUE) and the distribution of species composition. Keywords: coast radar, Tainan coastal and offshore fisheries, fishing effort, fishing location¡Acatch per unit effort

English Abstract The essay argues the transformation from business marketing strategies to political ones. It accumulates the empirical data interviewed from the Tai-nan city councilwomen, discusses the advantages and the disadvantages from the interviewers, and provides the modes of position marketing. The essay argues that the politicians should adopt the ¡¥material principle¡¦, ¡¥macro-behavior principle¡¦, and ¡¥productive behavior principle¡¦ as their marketing segmentation systems to get the best investment return rate. The politicians should make self- positioning after adopting the marketing segmentation principles,. The politicians should be aware of the related opponents, make sure the fatal factors of the image positioning, accumulate the images of the politicians from the representative voters according to ¡¥decisive factor¡¦ from the marketing, and analyze the positions of the politicians in the voters. The candidates should thereby discuss the best compositions of the voters¡¦ decisive factors with their staffs and examine the correspondence between the market segmentation and the competitive position of the politicians to accomplish the market positioning.

CHIANG, YU-HSUEH 28 January 2002 (has links)
SUMMARY The purpose of this study is to discuss the clinical nurse's work value, job satisfaction, organizational commitment and turnover intention at Tainan regional hospitals; compare the difference of clinical nurse's work value, job satisfaction, organizational commitment and turnover intention by the variation of personal character and the variation of organization; and research for the interaction of clinical nurse's work value, job satisfaction, organizational commitment and turnover intention. The total 301 clinical nurses from three different hospitals are surveyed by the self-made questionnaire of clinical nurse's work value and turnover intention. The total 263 useful questionnaires are collected and analyzed by the statistical techniques including mean, proportion, correlation analysis, one-way ANOVA and regression analysis etc. The finding from this study provides the following information: 1.In the category of work value, the safe working environment and job pay have the highest score and the self-learning has the lowest score. In the category of job satisfaction, the management satisfaction is the best and the pay satisfaction is the worst. The recognition and devotion commitments are more important than the retention commitment in the category of organizational commitment. The average score for turnover intention is 15.26 (full marks is 25). 2.The substantial discrepancy in clinical nurse's work value, job satisfaction, organizational commitment and turnover intention exists in the result of the variation of organization. 3.The variation of personal character leads to the significant discrepancy in work value, job satisfaction, organizational commitment and turnover intention. 4.The job satisfaction results from the work value at government contracted-hospital. The organizational commitment results from the job satisfaction at all three hospitals. The turnover intention is under the influence of organizational commitment at city hospital, under the influence of job satisfaction and organizational commitment at Christian hospital and under the influence of work value and organizational commitment at government contracted-hospital. The conclusion from this study provides the hospital management with the concept how to limit the turnover intention in order to maintain the top competitive ability in medical business and provide the best service quality for the clients.
