Motivation för förändring : En deduktiv forskning baserad på den transteoretiska modellen / Motivation for change : A deductive research based on the transtheoretical model

Jönsson, Joakim, Strandell, Pontus January 2014 (has links)
The purpose of this research was to examine and understand how a process of change with a connection to motivation looks like. The individuals of which participated in the study had a common factor of changing their lifestyle after living with a fatal or potentially fatal behavior. With an attachment to the transtheoretical model we have examined whether the respondents have followed through the levels of readiness in the model in their process towards a healthier behavior pattern. By using an open dialog in the interviews we were able to examine the depth in the statements of the respondents. The final results showed among others that the inner motivation of which is experienced is essential in the maintenance of the new behavior, and that the solidarity in the various support groups of which the respondents had participated was crucial to their outer motivation.

Hypertonipatienters reflektioner om livsstil och dess inverkan på blodtrycket

Pyhälä, Taina January 2009 (has links)

A HIGHLY INTEGRATED TELEMETRY SYSTEM FOR THE EXCALIBUR PROJECTILE

Oder, Stephen, Dearstine, Christina, Muir, John, Semuskie, Stephen, Fratta, Ralph, DiCristina, Stephen 10 1900 (has links)
ITC/USA 2005 Conference Proceedings / The Forty-First Annual International Telemetering Conference and Technical Exhibition / October 24-27, 2005 / Riviera Hotel & Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada / A miniature 1 Watt Tactical Telemetry Module (TTM) has been developed for the Excalibur projectile program. The TTM incorporates a multi-channel PCM encoder, lower S-band transmitter, and power regulation onto a single printed wiring board (PWB). The PCM encoder is designed for eight (8) analog inputs, four (4) discrete inputs, and one (1) synchronous RS-422 serial interface, with a total data rate of 1 Mbps. The module incorporates a digitally programmable, phase-locked FM S-band transmitter. The transmitter utilizes M/A-COM’s new dual port VCO and a high efficiency 2 W power amplifier MMIC. Additionally, switching power regulation circuits were implemented within the module to provide maximum operating efficiency. This paper reviews the environmental requirements of Excalibur, the design of the Excalibur TTM, and presents electrical and air-gun test data.

Effects Of A Tailored Web-Based Educational Intervention On Taiwanese Women's Mammography-Related Perceptions and Intentions

Lin, Zu-Chun January 2008 (has links)
Cancer is the leading cause of death in Taiwan. Breast cancer has the highest morbidity rate in females. Early detection in Taiwanese women is hampered by their inadequate knowledge of risk factors, their biased perceptions of mammography and by their low intentions to carry out recommended preventative strategies. Although the Internet has become a powerful tool to disseminate health information, health information offered on the web frequently is not theoretically-based or patient-centered. Effken's (2003) Informatics Research Organizing Model (IROM) and the Transtheoretical Model (TTM) (Prochaska & Diclemente, 1982; Rakowski, Dube, & Goldstein, 1996) were used to guide the design and evaluation of a tailored web-based program aimed at improving effective breast cancer detection in Taiwanese women. This study used a pretest-posttest design to examine the impact of a tailored, web-based educational intervention on Taiwanese women's perceptions of and intentions to obtain mammography, as well as their satisfaction with the website. One hundred twenty eight Taiwanese women were randomly assigned to one of two groups: tailored intervention (TI) or standard intervention (SI). The TI group received tailored educational materials (i.e. tailored messages, case studies, personal testimonies, and mammography information). The SI group received an educational brochure developed by the Bureau of Health Promotion, Department of Health (DOH). A Stage of Adoption of Mammography Question (SAMQ) and Decisional Balance of Mammography Inventory (DBMI) were administered before and after the educational intervention. A Website Users Satisfaction (WUS) and Demographics Inventory (DI) were administered after the intervention. All materials and instruments were delivered and assessed via a website. ANCOVAs, Chi-Square tests and t-tests were utilized to test the hypotheses. Results of the study revealed that the TI group differed significantly from the SI group in terms of perceptions of, and intentions to obtain, mammography, as well as in satisfaction with the website. The results of this study contribute to our knowledge of how a health education website can change women's mammography-related perceptions and intentions if theoretically-based and tailored interventions are emphasized.

Individual Behavior Change in the Context of Organization Change: Towards Validation of the Transtheoretical Model of Change in an Organizational Environment

Phillips, Tobe M. 12 1900 (has links)
A review of literature indicates limited effort to understand and explain employees' acclimation to, and adoption of, new behaviors required by organization change initiatives. Psychological theories of individual behavior change have, in restricted instances, been applied into organizational environments. The transtheoretical model of change (TTM) offers a comprehensive explanation of behavior change uniting multiple theories of individual change. TTM describes change as a series of stages that individual progress through before arriving at the decision to implement a change in behavior. Movement through the stages is facilitated by processes which increase the probability of a behavior change effort's success. The present research investigated the potential applicability of TTM for explaining individual level change within a new context, specifically, an organizational environment. To examine if individual change in the context of an organization occurs in the fashion described by TTM, measures of core TTM constructs were delivered to employees in a water department of a city in the American southwest. The water department was immersed in an organization change initiative necessitating individual behavior change by its employees. Results of TTM core construct measures and their relationships with each other and the stages of change were examined. Initial findings are indicative of TTM's potential applicability as a description of behavior change within an organizational context. Implications of these findings, potential applications, imitations of the current research, and recommendations for future research are discussed.

Overcoming Faculty Avoidance of Online Education: From Resistance to Support to Active Participation

Mitchell, Lorianne D., Parlamis, Jennifer D., Claiborne, Sarah A. 01 January 2015 (has links)
The online delivery of higher education courses and programs continues to expand across academic disciplines at colleges and universities. This expansion of online education has been precipitated by, among other things, (a) the rise in personal computer ownership, (b) the ease of access to the Internet, (c) the availability and continuous improvement in technology for the delivery of online courses, and (d) the increase in demand for online courses by both traditional and nontraditional students. However, the proliferation of online education has not been enthusiastically supported by all constituents of higher education. Specifically, some faculty members remain resistant to the shift to online course delivery. This article applies the Transtheoretical Model of Change to the process of gaining faculty support for, and involvement in, online learning. After briefly reviewing current issues in online education and making a case for its adoption, we describe sources of faculty resistance and offer recommendations for interventions that may be applied to transforming faculty resistance to support and eventually to active participation.
