Cet exposé analyse les perspectives large bande des réseaux PMR, à travers l'évaluation du candidat LTE, et la proposition d'une possible évolution du codage canal, la solution brevetée des codes turbo à protection non uniforme. Une première étude dans le chapitre 2 se concentre sur l'analyse multi-couche et l'identification des problèmes clé des communications de voix et de vidéo sur un réseau LTE professionnel. Les capacités voix et vidéo sont estimées pour les liens montant et descendant de la transmission LTE, et l'efficacité spectrale de la voix en lien descendant est comparée à celle de PMR et GSM. Ce chapitre souligne certains points clé de l'évolution de LTE. S'ils étaient pas résolus par la suite, LTE se verrait perdre de sa crédibilité en tant que candidat à l'évolution de la PMR. Une telle caractéristique clé des réseaux PMR est le codage canal à protection non uniforme, qui pourrait être adapté au système LTE pour une évolution aux contraintes de la sécurité publique. Le chapitre 3 introduit cette proposition d'évolution, qui a été brevetée: les turbo codes à protection non uniforme intégrée. Nous proposons une nouvelle approche pour le codage canal à protection non uniforme à travers les codes turbo progressives hiérarchiques. Les configurations parallèles et séries sont analysées. Les mécanismes de protection non uniformes sont intégrés dans la structure de l'encodeur même à travers l'insertion progressif et hiérarchique de nouvelles données de l'utilisateur. Le turbo décodage est modifié pour exploiter de façon optimale l'insertion progressive de données dans le processus d'encodage et estimer hiérarchiquement ces données. Les propriétés des structures parallèles et séries sont analysées à l'aide d'une analogie aux codes pilotes, ainsi qu'en regardant de plus près leurs caractéristiques de poids de codage. Le taux de transmission virtuel et les représentations des graphs factor fournissent une meilleure compréhension de ces propriétés. Les gains de codage sont évalués à l'aide de simulations numériques, en supposant des canaux de transmission radio statiques et dynamiques, et en utilisant des codes de référence. Enfin, dans le chapitre 4, l'idée breveté du code turbo parallal progressif et hiérarchique (PPHTC) est évaluée sur la plateforme LTE. Une description détaillée de l'architecture des bearers de LTE est donnée, et ses conséquences sont discutées. Le nouveau codage canal est inséré et évalué sur cette plateforme, et ses performances sont comparées avec des schémas de transmission typique à LTE. L'analyse de la qualité de la voix aide à conclure sur l'efficacité de la solution proposée dans un système de transmission réel. Pourtant, même si cette dernière donne les meilleurs résultats, d'avantage d'optimisations devraient être envisagées pour obtenir des gains améliorés et mieux exploiter le potentiel du codage proposé. This study describes the design and implementation of a robust data hiding
algorithm which is provided by turbo codes. As the digital technology grows up, it
is getting easy to copy and distribute multimedia products without getting legal
permission. This has forced researchers to study in digital watermarking areas.
Along with watermarking researches, data hiding studies have gained interest in the
last decade. Different watermark and data hiding algorithms have been proposed
considering different requirements and properties such as robustness, fidelity,
invisibility and data hiding capacity.
In this thesis, robustness of watermarking systems and fidelity requirement in
watermark models are considered and use of turbo codes is proposed with data
embedding systems to improve system performance in terms of robustness.
Fundamental watermarking algorithms in DCT domain are analyzed and simulated.
Their performances in terms of robustness are presented. Data hiding algorithm
which is based on projection and perturbation in transform domain is implemented
in visual C. Then turbo codes are applied to this algorithm to improve system
robustness. Improvement provided by turbo codes is demonstrated and compared
with other discussed watermarking systems.

Le codage distribué pour un réseau de capteurs sans-fil basé sur les turbo codes en blocYin, Yizhi 07 December 2012 (has links) (PDF)
Cette thèse étudie les performances d'un réseau de capteurs sans-fil coopératif, basé sur un codage réseau algébrique linéaire appliqué au relais. On considère un schéma coopératif basé sur le code produit en bloc où un grand nombre de sources transmettent des données indépendantes codées par un premier code en bloc vers un seul destinataire avec l'aide du relais. Dans ce schéma, le relais applique le codage réseau algébrique linéaire en utilisant un code correcteur d'erreur systématique linéaire en bloc sur les mots de code source détectés par le relais. Seule, la redondance générée par le relais est transférée vers le destinataire. Le destinataire observe un mot de code produit en bloc en combinant les observations des sources et du relais. Premièrement, on aborde la coopération en mode time-division multiple-access (TDMA) et suppose un canal source-relais bruité. On analyse les probabilités théoriques à l'entrée et à la sortie du relais pour différente stratégies de détection au relais. On établit aussi une borne théorique sur la probabilité d'erreur de trame pour le schéma coopératif proposé. Puis on évalue la coopération multi-relais afin de traiter la corrélation des erreurs dans la redondance générée par le relais. Différents configurations de coopération (mono ou multi-relais avec différentes stratégies au relais) sont comparées. On montre que la liaison source-relais est le maillon faible du réseau. On évalue ensuite la capacité du réseau sous la condition de taille finie du code. Ensuite, on étudie la coopération basée sur la technique code-division multiple-access (CDMA) appliqué au relais de telle sorte que le signal du relais est avec ceux des sources dans la même bande de fréquence radio. Pour simplifier l'analyse, on suppose un canal source-relais sans erreur. On propose une procédure de décodage itératif avec la neutralisation de l'interférence. On formule deux cas de coopération basé sur CDMA: TDMA-CDMA avec répartition orthogonale dans le temps entre les sources et FDMA-CDMA avec allocation de sous-bandes de fréquence disjointes pour les sources. Le ratio d'allocation d'énergie entre les sources et le relais est évalué en utilisant les simulations.

Towards predictive eddy resolving simulations for gas turbine compressorsScillitoe, Ashley Duncan January 2017 (has links)
This thesis aims to explore the potential for using large eddy simulation (LES) as a predictive tool for gas-turbine compressor flows. Compressors present a significant challenge for the Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) based CFD methods commonly used in industry. RANS models require extensive calibration to experimental data, and thus cannot be used predictively. This thesis explores how LES can offer a more predictive alternative, by exploring the sensitivity of LES to sources of uncertainty. Specifically, the importance of the numerical scheme, the Sub-Grid Scale (SGS) model, and the correct specification of inflow turbulence is examined. The sensitivity of LES to the numerical scheme is explored using the Taylor-Green vortex test case. The numerical smoothing, controlled by a user defined smoothing constant, is found to be important. To avoid tuning the numerical scheme, a locally adaptive smoothing (LAS) scheme is implemented. But, this is found to perform poorly in a forced isotropic turbulence test case, due to the intermittency of the dispersive error. A novel scheme, the LAS with windowing (LASW) scheme, is thus introduced. The LASW scheme is shown to be more suitable for predictive LES, as it does not require tuning to a known solution. The LASW scheme is used to perform LES on a compressor cascade, and results are found to be in close agreement with direct numerical simulations. Complex transition mechanisms, combining characteristics of both natural and bypass modes, are observed on the pressure surface. These mechanisms are found to be sensitive to numerical smoothing, emphasising the importance of the LASW scheme, which returns only the minimum smoothing required to prevent dispersion. On the suction surface, separation induced transition occurs. The flow here is seen to be relatively insensitive to numerical smoothing and the choice of SGS model, as long as the Smagorinsky-Lilly SGS model is not used. These findings are encouraging, as they show that, with the LASW scheme and a suitable SGS model, LES can be used predictively in compressor flows. In order to be predictive, the accurate specification of inflow conditions was shown to be just as important as the numerics. RANS models are shown to over-predict the extent of the three dimensional separation in the endwall - suction surface corner. LES is used to examine the challenges for RANS in this region. The LES shows that it is important to accurately capture the suction surface transition location, with early transition leading to a larger endwall separation. Large scale aperiodic unsteadiness is also observed in the endwall region. Additionally, turbulent anisotropy in the endwall - suction surface corner is found to be important. Adding a non-linear term to the RANS model leads to turbulent stresses that are in better agreement with the LES. This results in a stronger corner vortex which is thought to delay the corner separation. The addition of a corner fillet reduces the importance of anisotropy, thereby reducing the uncertainty in the RANS prediction.

The aerodynamic integration of an aero-engine intake system with the airframe can pose some notable challenges. This is particularly so for many military air- craft and is likely to become a more pressing issue for both new military systems with highly embedded engines as well as for novel civil aircraft configurations. During the late 1960s with the advent of turbo-fan engines, industry became in- creasingly aware of issues which arise due to inlet total pressure distortion. Since then, inlet-engine compatibility assessments have become a key aspect of any new development. In addition to total temperature and total pressure distortions, flow angularity and the associated swirl distortion are also known to be of notable con- cern. The importance of developing a rigorous methodology to understand the effects of swirl distortion on turbo-machinery has also become one of the major concerns of current design programmes. The goal of this doctoral research was to further the current knowledge on swirl distortion, and its adverse effects on engine performance, focusing on the turbo-machinery components (i.e. fans or compressors). This was achieved by looking into appropriate swirl flow descriptors and by correlating them against the compressor performance parameters (e.g loss in stability pressure ratios). To that end, a number of high-fidelity three-dimensional Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models have been developed using two sets of transonic rotors (i.e. NASA Rotor 67 and 37), and a stator (NASA Stator 67B). For the numerical purpose, a boundary condition methodology for the definition of swirl distortion patterns at the inlet has been developed. Various swirl distortion numerical parametric studies have been performed using the modelled rotor configurations. Two types of swirl distortion pattern were investigated in the research, i.e. the pure bulk swirl and the tightly-wound vortex. Numerical simulations suggested that the vortex core location, polarity, size and strength greatly affect the compressor performance. The bulk swirl simula- tions also showed the dependency on swirl strength and polarity. This empha- sized the importance of quantifying these swirl components in the flow distortion descriptors. For this, a methodology have been developed for the inlet-engine compatibility assessment using different types of flow descriptors. A number of correlations have been proposed for the two types of swirl distortion investigated in the study.

São tratados, inicialmente, de projetos de filtros canceladores de
elos de realimentação em estações retransmissoras, que ocorrem quando a antena de transmissão interfere na antena de recepção. Um novo filtro, baseado em técnicas que utilizam informação temporal é proposto. Novas propostas são feitas para as partes de sincronismo, estimação e equalização de canal, e codificação/decodificação. Uma técnica, vinda da teoria de reconhecimento
de padrões, é aplicada para diminuição da complexidade no processo de sincronismo temporal. Um sistema de estimação de canal 2D e equalização adaptativa, usando o LMS (Least Mean Square), é comparado com técnicas clássicas da literatura, e um ganho significativo é encontrado. Such environment facilitates the channel distribution, however its characteristics degrade the receiver operation. Initially, projects of loop canceller filters in relay stations are treated, and they are necessary when the
transmission antenna causes interference on reception antenna. A new filter, based on time information is proposed. New proposals are made for the synchronism, channel estimation and equalization, and coding/decoding. One technique, coming from the pattern recognition theory, is applied for complexity reduction in the process of time synchronism. A 2D channel estimation system and adaptive equalization, using LMS (Least Mean Square), is compared to classical techniques in the literature, and a significant gain is achieved. As a new coding and decoding scheme, an iterative system based on turbo codes is used with reduced number of iterations. Such code improves the system performance when compared to the Viterbi and Reed Solomon concatenated decoders. The architecture of pneumatic regenerative systems for the diesel engineBao, Ran January 2015 (has links)
For vehicles whose duty cycle is dominated by start-stop operation, fuel consumption may be significantly improved by better management of the start-stop process. Pneumatic hybrid technology represents one technology pathway to realise this goal. Vehicle kinetic energy is converted to pneumatic energy by compressing air into air tank(s) during the braking. The recovered air is reused to supply an air starter, or supply energy to the air path in order to reduce turbo-lag. This research aims to explore the concept and control of a novel pneumatic hybrid powertrain for a city bus application to identify the potential for improvements in fuel economy and drivability. In order to support the investigation of energy management, system architecture and control methodologies, two kinds of simulation models are created. Backward-facing simulation models have been built using Simulink. Forward-facing models have been developed in the GT-POWER and Simulink co-simulation. After comparison, the fully controllable hybrid braking system is chosen to realize the regenerative braking function. A number of architectures for managing a rapid energy transfer into the powertrain to reduce turbo-lag have been investigated. A city bus energy control strategy has been proposed to realize the Stop-Start Function, Boost Function, and Regenerative Braking Function as well as the normal operations. An optimisation study is conducted to identify the relationships between operating parameters and respectively fuel consumption, performance and energy usage. In conclusion, pneumatic hybrid technology can improve the city bus fuel economy by at least 6% in a typical bus driving cycle, and reduce the engine brake torque response and vehicle acceleration. Based on the findings, it can be learned that the pneumatic hybrid technology offers a clear and low-cost alternative to the electric hybrid technology in improving fuel economy and vehicle drivability.

A top-to-down design methods. 802.11n digital down-converter is designed from Matlab model to VHDL implementation. Both simulation and FPGA prototyping are carried out.As another significant part of the thesis, a parallel Turbo decoder is designed and implemented for 3GPPLTE. The block size supported ranges from 40 to 6144 and the maximum number of iteration is eight.The Turbo decoder will use eight parallel SISO units to reach a throughput up to 150Mits.

Digital predistortion and equalization of the non-linear satellite communication channel / Prédistorsion numérique et turbo-égalisation du canal de communication par satellite non-linéaireDeleu, Thibault 14 November 2014 (has links)
In satellite communications, non-linear interference is created by the non-linear power amplifier aboard the satellite. Even in the case of a memoryless power amplifier, the channel is a non-linear system with memory due to the presence of linear filters on ground and aboard the satellite. The non-linear interference degrades the system performance, especially when considering high-order modulations or in case of several signals being amplified by the same power amplifier. In this thesis, we have proposed algorithms at the transmitter and at the receiver to digitally compensate this interference. In particular, a new predistortion algorithm has been proposed, which significantly improves state-of-the-art algorithms. Since the complexity of this algorithm is an issue, low-complexity algorithms have also been proposed and achieve almost the same performance as the initial algorithm. We have also proposed joint predistortion and turbo-equalization algorithms to further improve the system performance. / En communications par satellite, de l’interférence non-linéaire est créée par l’amplificateur de puissance non-linéaire à bord du satellite. Même si l’amplificateur peut être considéré comme sans mémoire, le canal est malgré tout un système non-linéaire avec mémoire de par la présence de filtres linéaires au sol ou à bord du satellite. L'interférence non-linéaire dégrade les performances du système, en particulier lorsqu’on considère des modulations d’ordre élevé ou plusieurs signaux amplifiés par le même amplificateur de puissance. Dans cette thèse, nous avons proposé des algorithmes à l’émetteur et au récepteur pour compenser numériquement cette interférence. En particulier, nous avons proposé un nouvel algorithme de prédistorsion qui améliore de façon significative les algorithmes de l’état-de-l’art. La complexité de l’algorithme étant très élevée, nous avons proposé des algorithmes de plus faible complexité atteignant pratiquement les mêmes performances par rapport à l’algorithme initial.
