Gallego, Andréa Bonetti January 2014 (has links)
This study investigated how the process of moral development of a teacher can influence the establishment of social, intellectual and affective exchanges with adolescent students in the moral field and how these exchanges are balanced. The main theoretical background used was Genetic Epistemology, especially the topic of moral development in Piaget's work and in his sociological studies. The guiding theme of the research is the issue of the construction of a scale of values in relationships between teacher and students. The methodology adopted was defined as a qualitative research, which was conducted at a public state school in Porto Alegre using the method of multiple case study, selecting as subjects teachers who were pointed out as significant in terms of moral development by their adolescent students in the previous research. Data were collected by means of two clinical interviews with each of the subjects and organized in cases, in order to investigate characteristics of the development of the subjects, their scales of values, and the relationships with their students. The results obtained indicate that the process of moral development of teachers influences their way of relating with students, making teachers more or less relevant in terms of moral development of the adolescents. This process of development includes family relationships, continuous qualification, reflection, and significant relationships throughout life, even with students. Teachers who experience, in their development, relationships of autonomy and who had the opportunity of reflecting about these relationships and having a broader contact with knowledge tend to be more decentered and consider student's development as an important value, showing more indicators that they establish significant relationships in terms of moral development with their students. The scale of values of the analyzed teachers is still under development through reflection on their practice, the relationship with the students, and continuous qualification. Such data confirm and the results of the previous research, which demonstrated that such factors are necessary in order to have significative teachers for the moral development of adolescents, and also expand them, enabling us to understand how these factors interfere with the way the relationship is established. Práce asistenta učitele v konkrétních v podmínkách I. st. ZŠ z hlediska disciplíny Technologie vzdělávání / The labor of teacher´s assistant in actual conditions on primary schools from the point of view of the branch Education Technology

KLABOUCHOVÁ, Denisa January 2007 (has links)
In my opinion, a pupil from a minority represents in our society an upto- date subject. In contemporary school, it is common that not all the children have the same nationality in one classroom. Prior experience, especially with Romany children, is getting extended in contemporary society, since the opening of the borders of the Czech Republic many ethnic groups have come to our territory. These various populations represent also influx of children for whom the school attendance is obligatory and so they attend Czech schools. The fact that a pupil different physically but also by his language, ability of understanding the Czech language, cultural traditions, religion and conviction or his family rear appears in a majority classroom, has an important impact on the work of the teacher. Teacher has to confront heavy tax. School should be a place where we acquire the rules and values of the society and teacher should be that person who pays attention on respecting of these rules and values. Teacher should help his students to understand and to accept their ``strange{\crqq} schoolmate and all his ethnic group, and he should show clearly by his behavior to all pupils that racism and discrimination aren{\crq}t possible in our multicultural society.

The main of this study is a linguistic practice conventionalized as an oral institutional gender – the lesson. Our purpose awakes the way how the student (a) conceptualizes this scholastic scene, what are his effective practices and (c) what is the normatization idealized for this scene. For so much, our investigation deals with these actors’ speech, collected by means of a written task (questionary) in a specific scene – a public school from the interior – Minas Gerais. Because of the students saying, also their linguistic statements which are present in their speeches, we propose to investigate their role in the classroom. Our premise, sustained by sociocognivism paradigm, points out that language is a powerful instrument in the process of how people conceive, categorize and live social, cultural and interacional experiences. In analytic exercise from the speech, our theorical and fundamental support is Cognitive Linguistic, based on Lakoff”s works (1987, 1999) Process of categorization and conceptualization; Fillmore (1977; 1982a; 1982b, 2003) Semantic of frames; Tomasello’s Evolucionist Antropology (2003). Our fundamental aim is to understand an educational question, that is the necessity of an interpretation of the speech considering people’s behavior and their awakening, as speakers users of interactional linguistic with human necessities and ethics and moral values. Our conclusions affirm that although there is a contradiction between the speech and students’ reality in class, what counts is a non-naturalization of negative practices, about the conflict between students and teachers. In spite of this contradiction, it’s necessary a systematic education of the orality in class, in order to construct a ethic-citizen.

L'incidence de l'épistémologie pratique des professeurs sur les savoirs co-construits en danse contemporaine : analyse comparative de trois cas contrastés à l'école élémentaire / The incidence of teachers' practical epistemology on co-constructed "contemporary dance knowledge" : comparative analysis of three contrasted cases in primary school

Arnaud-Bestieu, Alexandra 10 May 2011 (has links)
This thesis attempts to report processes of construction of a contemporary dance reference at primary school. This research is based on observation three teachers having contrasted training in dance : observation during three teaching units in the 3rd, 4th and 5th years (French education system). A comparative perspective is chosen to conduct research – in situ data collection -, through two theories, the Joint Action Theory in didactics (Sensevy and Mercier, 2007 ; Schubauer-Leoni and Leutenegger, 2008) and the Anthropological Theory of Didactics (Chevallard, 1999, 2007). This theorectical position brings into light relations between knowledge coconstrution phenomena during the class and practical epistemology of these teachers. Moreover, the Dance Movement Theory of Laban (1947/2003, 1949/2007) is mobilized, offering an effective framework to analyse «Dance Knowledge» and to define this specific practical epistemology. The choice of the so-called «clinical/experimental» method (Leutenegger, 2009) abled to create conditions of a cross-case comparison and makes possible observations of Ordinary teaching process. The confrontation of these three cases brings into light incidence of «teachers' relations to knowledge» on co-construction of the dance reference in class. The main results give also evidence of a strong incidence of «teachers' relations to knowledge» on the didactic and disciplinary epistemologies differently mobilized by teachers. This thesis reveals effects of this professional epistemology on particular «Dance Knowledge» and allows to extensively question the field of teachers' training.

Výuka výslovnosti angličtiny jako cizího jazyka / Pronunciation instruction in the context of TEFL

Nelson, Sabina January 2019 (has links)
Pronunciation instruction in the TEFL classroom has long been a neglected area regardless of its importance for the students. The data in the literature shows that teachers are generally not ready to provide pronunciation instruction for a variety of reasons: lack of qualification and training, theoretical and practical knowledge, time and motivation. The present thesis explores the current situation of pronunciation instruction at a private language school in the Czech Republic using of classroom observations and teacher and student surveys. The results confirm the initial hypothesis that pronunciation instruction including pronunciation error correction is nearly non-existent or occurs sporadically in the classroom. Only one out of four teachers (T1) included explicit pronunciation information into his teaching. The only pronunciation error correction technique observed with the four teachers was a recast which proved to be ineffective in most cases. Even though the teachers and students are generally aware of the importance of pronunciation in foreign language acquisition, their individual beliefs and attitudes towards pronunciation learning and teaching greatly differ. Key words: pronunciation, TEFL, explicit instruction, segmental features, suprasegmental features, teacher and student cognition

Aprendendo a ser e a conviver: práticas colaborativas e dialógicas no contexto escolar / Learning to be and learnig to live together: collaborative and dialogic practices in the scholar contexto

No. of bitstreams: 1 Valéria Nicolau Paschoal.pdf: 3718463 bytes, checksum: a110ca5d0455634bc6a1de611f2ad18a (MD5) Previous issue date: 2016-11-22 / This study is characterized as a research-action, resulting from the claim of a school interested in providing the possibilities of perception wideness and a characterization that the teachers have from their students, which many times they are marked by negative and depreciative denotations. It was developed through collaborative and dialogic practices, which were brought to create a space that would enable the improvement of relationships in the scholar environment. According to UNESCO (2016), education must be integrated and humanist through the development of competencies to reach the living in society, becoming a viable way to enable people to respond to the transformations and challenges of present times. The four pillars of education for the 21st century – learn to know, learn to make, learn to be and to live together – they need to be incorporated in the implementation of the educational programs of the schools. The search for a construction of a conversational context organized for the promotion of new types and qualities of connections between teachers-students and students-students evidencing two pillars that represent the social function of a school: which are learning to be and learning to live together, started from the four pillars concept and was based on the social constructionism ideas and on the narrative and collaborative practices. Since this is a research-action, the research made use of procedures which were adapted to each of its four phases including: a free meetings and an interview with the curator; meetings with the teachers; meetings with the parents or with those responsible for the student; workshops of selfknowledge and reflective processes with students and teachers; feedbacks from all participants; and assessment meetings with teachers. The parts who took part of this research are: the curator, six teachers from the 1st to the 5th teaching course, one teacher assistant, ten children (from the age of seven to ten), their parents/or those responsible for them and the school group. The intervention made didn’t intend to find out a new problem and to resolve it, but it did have the proposition of building together with the participants new ways to be and to live together, re-affirming the social function of the school and its commitments with the transformation of the current reality. The narratives generated from this experience, were analyzed according to the social poetics and they were organized, being considered as arresting moments, around four categories: the effects of the collaborative and dialogic practices in the scholar context; considerations about the function of the school and their teachers in the 21st century; the collaborative posture in the implementation of such practices; and the development of the research through the planning of new actions. The application of this model to the scholar context was proved to be viable and useful for the construction of a more agreeable environment encouraging people to be together, mainly for the fact that it talks about values and because it triggers thoughts and attitudes to be reviewed, giving visibility to aspects of the participants’ life that weren’t noticed by them before the application of this experience / Este trabalho caracteriza-se como uma pesquisa-ação, resultante da demanda de uma escola interessada em fornecer possibilidades de ampliação da percepção e descrição que professores têm de seus alunos, muitas vezes marcada por denotações negativas e depreciativas.

Gender differences in teacher-student interactions, attitudes and achievement in middle school science

Eccles, Lynette January 2006 (has links)
Research has shown that interest in science often decreases in the middle-school grades for both boys and girls, but that more boys continue on the science track in high school and college, leading to males dominating the fields of science and engineering in the work place. The interpersonal interaction between teachers and students, as both individuals and as a group, comprises a large part of the classroom learning environment. Though these interactions last only a school year, they can influence student attitudes and achievement in the long term. Past research has suggested that a key factor in improving student achievement and attitudes is to create learning environments which emphasize characteristics that have been found to be linked empirically with achievement and attitudes. The purpose of this study was to use quantitative methods to validate a learning environment questionnaire (Questionnaire on Teacher Interaction, QTI), to investigate outcome-environment associations, and to compare male and female students in terms of their attitudes, classroom environment perceptions and achievement. An attitude scale, based on items from the Test of Science Related Attitudes (TOSRA), and a 48-item eight-scale version of the QTI were administered to 1228 science students in Grades 6, 7 and 8 at one middle school in South Florida. Student achievement was measured using the students’ quarterly (nine-week) science grade. / The results revealed satisfactory internal consistency reliability for the QTI, with alpha reliability coefficients ranging from 0.51 to 0.83 for different scales with the student as the unit of analysis and from 0.54 to 0.96 for class means. For the 10-item attitude scale, the alpha coefficient was above 0.80 for both the student and the class mean as the unit of analysis, demonstrating high internal consistency reliability. Overall, the results of the statistical analyses supported that the QTI questionnaire and the attitude scale are valid and reliable instruments for use with secondary science students in South Florida. A strong relationship was found between student outcomes (attitudes and achievement) and many of the eight QTI scales with either the individual or the class mean as the unit of analysis. For example, students’ attitudes towards science were more positive when teachers exhibited more leadership and understanding behaviors and science achievement was higher when teachers were friendlier and less uncertain. The use of MANOVA tentatively revealed gender differences in students’ perceptions of teacher interpersonal behavior, attitudes towards science, and science achievement. However, the differences between males and females were statistically significant only for the Helping/Friendly, Dissatisfied, and Admonishing scales of the QTI and for achievement. In general, relative to males, female students had more positive perceptions of teacher interpersonal behavior and higher academic achievement.
