An investigation of perceived anxiety toward new software technologies among teachers in a Mississippi rural city school district

Miller, Matilda 01 May 2010 (has links)
Technological standards have existed for years encouraging the use of computer technology as a teaching tool. By increasing technology use in the classroom, educators are able to address teaching and learning opportunities for all students. The need for these opportunities is essential in the rural areas of the U. S. The purpose of this study was to determine if teachers in a rural city school district in Mississippi experience computer anxiety in using new and emerging software technologies for instructional purpose; examine the level of computer anxiety teachers experience in using computers; and explore if relationships exist in the level of computer anxiety experienced by teachers based on the following demographic variables: gender, age, years of teaching, subject area taught, and educational attainment. The population consisted of 110 teachers with a minimum of bachelor‟s degree and certified to teach in their respective areas of specialization. Findings from descriptive statistics revealed that the majority of the participants were female teachers with 43% of participants possessing either a Master‟s or Ph.D. degree. A large portion of these teachers had one year or more experience with learning about or working with computers with access to a computer at home. The means revealed that when teachers have a moderate degree of confidence, liking, and usefulness when using new and emerging software technology there is a low degree of anxiety. Pearson Correlations were used to examine the relationships between the subscales (anxiety, confidence, liking, and usefulness) and demographic variables (gender, age, years of teaching, subject area taught, and educational attainment). Results confirmed that there were significant relationships between age and anxiety, gender and confidence, gender and liking, and years of teaching and anxiety. However, there were no significant relationships between the other variables. Findings of this study have the potential to contribute to the development of a profile that could be used to identify teachers who need exposure to technological training and professional development to help reduce computer anxiety and minimize resistance to computer usage. Additionally, findings of this study can serve as a growing baseline of literature that relates to computer anxiety among teachers.

Lärares mindset och deras praktik : Lärares attityder gentemot elevers förmåga att utvecklas och relationen till deras undervisning / Teachers mindset and practice : Teachers attitudes towards students ability in relation to their teaching practice

Rahm, Lina January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of the study is to investigate whether there is a relationship between the teachers view of the pupils´development potential and their teaching, ie the influence of the attitude towards action by the teachers included in the study. Development potential, I define on the basis of Dweck´s theory (2015) as the students´development of intelligence and abels such as gender, legitimacy and years in profession. The study is based on a socio-cultural perspective and is quantitativ. It is contucted as a web-based survey of comprising two different schools. The result indicates that there are no general significate realtionships between teachers´mindet and their internship. There are also ni significant relationships between teachers´mindset and their practice in relation to demographic variables.

Postoje pedagogů základních škol k inkluzivnímu vzdělávání žáků s problémovým chováním / Attitudes of elementary school teachers towards inclusive education of students with problematic behaviour

Jelínková, Barbora January 2017 (has links)
This thesis explores the different types of primary school teachers' attitude towards inclusive education of pupils with behavioural problems. Three main goals were attempted through interviews with teachers of different qualification. The first goal was to understand the differences between teachers' attitudes and opinions. The second was to identify the major reasons for said attitudes. The third goal was to review bill no. 27/2016, which deals with the issues of education of pupils with special needs and of exceptionally talented pupils. The respondents, who participated in this research, are currently employed as primary school teachers, as well as the Waldorf elementary schools and practical elementary schools. The research has shown that all respondents viewed the inclusion of pupils with behavioural problems as disadvantageous. This attitude can however be influenced by the type of school, or additional education in this particular field. This research concludes with a comparison to a U.S. research of similar goals. KEYWORDS: Behavioural problems, behavioural disorder, inclusion, teachers' attitude, primary school, Waldorf school, practical elementary school

Postoje žáků a učitelů k ruštině jako dalšímu cizímu jazyku / Pupils' and Teachers'Attitudes towards Russian as the Second Foreign Language

Kulichová, Zuzana January 2018 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with the attitude of pupils and teachers towards Russian as the second foreign language in the Czech school environment. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the role of Russian in the contemporary world, the history and the current position of teaching the language at Czech schools. What is also described are the linguodidactic and psycholinguistic aspects of foreign language teaching. The practical part of the thesis analyzes the data gained via a questionnaire survey focusing primarily on the aspects of the pupils' motivation to studying Russian and their expectations. It also deals with the attitude of teachers towards teaching Russian as the second foreign language. The main aim of the thesis is to clearly prove or prove false statements about what types of pupils choose Russian and why. The thesis discovers that the most frequent reasons for the choice of Russian as the second foreign language are the simplicity of Russian (resemblance to Czech) and its euphoniousness and language attractiveness. The analysis of the gained data proves false the statement that Russian is chosen primarily by the pupils who dislike foreign languages. On the other hand, it proves the statement that it is often chosen by pupils with special educational needs. The survey also...
