A formação da historiografia teatral brasileira (1888-1938) : consonâncias e dissonâncias /

Leite, Rodrigo Morais, 1977- January 2013 (has links)
The current thesis aims to study a portion of the Brazilian theatrical and literary historiography. The first part of the work, intended only for literary historiography, will look at the following authors and particular works will be examined: Sílvio Romero (History of Brazilian Literature, 1888), José Veríssimo (History of Brazilian Literature, 1916) and Ronald de Carvalho (Short History of Brazilian Literature, 1919). In their own way, such historians have made relevant contributions to the Brazilian Dramaturgy, which explains their inclusion in this work that aims to cover all the elements of the theatrical phenomenon. The second part is devoted to the history of the theater itself. The focus of the analysis is on four authors and their works: Henrique Marinho (The Brazilian Theater, 1904), Múcio da Paixão (The Theater in Brazil, written in 1917 but published only in 1936), Carlos Süssekind de Mendonça (History of Brazilian Theatre, 1926) and Lafayette Silva (History of Brazilian Theatre, 1938). The thesis is a work that compares historiography in order to emphasize certain important aspects of the works mentioned above. It looks at the sources, theories of history that led to the thinking of such authors and how they have positioned themselves in relation to certain topics (genealogy of Brazilian theater, supposed periods of rise and decay, divisions into chronological periods etc). The period to be analyzed runs from 1888 to 1938, and seeks to highlight the formative stage of Brazilian theatrical historiography, before the process of modernization it experienced mainly since the 1960s / Mestre

A (moderna) historiografia teatral de Décio de Almeida Prado /

Leite, Rodrigo Morais, 1977- January 2018 (has links)
(Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: This research presents a reflection on the theatrical historiography of Décio de Almeida Prado, an important critic and historian of Brazilian theater. As an intellectual associated with the third phase of the modernist movement, which some authors call the "Generation of 1945", his aesthetic and historiographical thinking has close ties with a certain conception of the modern world, which explains the title given to this paper. The thesis defended here aims to demonstrate the different overlaps existing between Prado's essays on the country's theatrical past and similar worldviews, aiming to address them in the light of certain parameters, such as the philosophy of history and some aesthetic and theatrical notions that shape this aspect of his writings. However, despite the more concentrated focus on his historiographical essays, the reviews of performances he penned over the years have not been ignored, to the extent that they are included within the scope of this paper, which is intended, as far as this is possible, to analyze Prado's overall thinking. That said, in order to provide a better understanding of the topic, a comparison has been made, throughout the research from start to finish, between Prado's theatrical essays and the literary essays of Antonio Candido, recalling that they both started their careers together when they founded, in partnership with other names such as Paulo Emílio Salles Gomes and Ruy Coelho, the magazine Clima (1941-1944). Given that their respective... (Complete abstract click electronic access below) / Doutor
