Menezes, Manoela Paiva. January 2017 (has links)
Abstract: This research aims to analyze the following plays by brazilian dramatist, Oduvaldo Vianna Filho: A Mais-Valia Vai Acabar, Seu Edgar (1960), O Auto dos 99% (1962), Brasil Versão Brasileira (1962) and Quatro Quadras de Terra (1963). Our proposition is that, on the one hand, we will find alternatives to the dramatic form and, on the other, remaining formal aspects of the bourgeois drama. Our goal is to make explicit, by analyzing the formal elements of the plays, how and why these elements take distance from the dramatic literary genre and approach the epic one, so that their reasons can be investigated. / Mestre

January 2016 (has links)
(Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: According to the western imagination, theater has arisen from Dionysian bacchanals in the Ancient Greek. Despite the repressive character of certain historical periods, it is also true that its alleged libertine nature has always accompanied it. In Brazil, for instance, it is not surprising that the national theater has balanced between the sacred and the profane, after all, it is known that the consolidation of our moral, essentially catholic, patriarchal, was established amid practices of a society emerged in a lustful sexual life. Currently, the sexuality theme and expression, which occupy the center of intense debates on human rights, are constantly present in the theater. Due to having the focus turned to the intersection between theater and sexuality, this dissertation pointed out, in the first chapter, evidences of such crossing; in the second one, it analyzed the playwriting strategies of Agreste (Malva-Rosa), by Newton Moreno, paradigmatic work of recent discussions about playwriting as well as sexuality. It was concluded that the play carries the sign of ambiguity. On one side, aimed at legitimating the art of storytelling, the play rescues the tradition of oral expression, elements of popular culture and narratives classical strategies; also, it establishes intertextuality with art canons. On the other side, with the target of dismantling classical rules of theater, it is aligned with the tendencies of contemporary playwriting, creating a pastiche of genres and sub... A formação da historiografia teatral brasileira (1888-1938) : consonâncias e dissonâncias /

Leite, Rodrigo Morais, 1977- January 2013 (has links)
The current thesis aims to study a portion of the Brazilian theatrical and literary historiography. The first part of the work, intended only for literary historiography, will look at the following authors and particular works will be examined: Sílvio Romero (History of Brazilian Literature, 1888), José Veríssimo (History of Brazilian Literature, 1916) and Ronald de Carvalho (Short History of Brazilian Literature, 1919). In their own way, such historians have made relevant contributions to the Brazilian Dramaturgy, which explains their inclusion in this work that aims to cover all the elements of the theatrical phenomenon. The second part is devoted to the history of the theater itself. The focus of the analysis is on four authors and their works: Henrique Marinho (The Brazilian Theater, 1904), Múcio da Paixão (The Theater in Brazil, written in 1917 but published only in 1936), Carlos Süssekind de Mendonça (History of Brazilian Theatre, 1926) and Lafayette Silva (History of Brazilian Theatre, 1938). The thesis is a work that compares historiography in order to emphasize certain important aspects of the works mentioned above. It looks at the sources, theories of history that led to the thinking of such authors and how they have positioned themselves in relation to certain topics (genealogy of Brazilian theater, supposed periods of rise and decay, divisions into chronological periods etc). The period to be analyzed runs from 1888 to 1938, and seeks to highlight the formative stage of Brazilian theatrical historiography, before the process of modernization it experienced mainly since the 1960s / Mestre

To answer this question may seem impossible. How to speak of something tangible, corporal, that words can not accomplish? To work this out, I have decided to listen to the voice of the body and of the phantoms. The word, in this research, is considered from an artaudian perspective: it takes a material dimension, it is gesture and action. In this research, Nego Fugido is seen over the shoulders of those who perform it but there is also an eye that looks to the margins, the haunting, the footnotes. A suspicious eye, aware of what escapes from the words, aware of the subjective aspects. Here, theatrical, anthropological and performance studies are in close relation with my experiences as a Nego Fugido member to build a documental body that promotes meaningful reflections on the manifestation. However, I do not search for gestures and strips of behavior to revel a model. My eye looks precisely for what escapes from the model, for what the models tries to hide. Do not be fooled! This is not an eye of the absolute truth. It is just an eye, an inside view that allows escaping from reflections more directed, fragmented and distant. I mean by this that the work now presented is not enough to answer my concerns about Nego Fugido. I am anxious to be haunted one more time at the next apparition of the manifestation. Nego Fugido explained is an abomination. To experiment it instead of talking about it, that is my curse

Augusto Boal: alguns encontros e desencontros com Bertolt Brecht /

Silva, Anderson de Souza Zanetti da. January 2015 (has links)
Abstract: The objective of this research is to discuss some aspects of the theatrical context of Augusto Boal, whose aesthetic-political paradigm is the poetics of Bertolt Brecht. With this procedure, some agreements and disagreements of Boal's poetic are identified with certain prospects of Brecht. In order to fully understand it, the following division is carried out: 1) some historical agreements and disagreements; 2) some political agreements and disagreements; 3) some aesthetic agreements and disagreements. This procedure only serves as a thematic organization, not changing the importance of discussing, in a correlated way, the historical, political and aesthetic production of Augusto Boal. While considering certain hypotheses, many crossover points arise and help to understand not only the theater of Boal, but also the significance that his work has for the history of Brazilian theater. In this context, it is not possible to deal with the left-wing theater in Brazil without addressing the arrival of Brecht's work in the country. As a result, there is an assumption that understanding the importance of Augusto Boal theater means understanding how Brecht's work serves as a model for the development of Brazilian poetic. / Doutor

Zambrano, Gustavo. January 2018 (has links)
For this, we consulted newspapers and magazines of the nineteenth century, made available by the website of the Digital Library of the National Library, a fact that is justified because there is a large volume of information on the work of Furtado Coelho, fundamental for the writing of the biography of the artist. Thus, all references to the artist found in those periodicals presented in this study are intended to better understand his history, as well as the history of theater in Brazil. As a result, the work will show the great importance of Furtado Coelho on the stages of Rio de Janeiro and, to a certain extent, in the whole country. In other words, we will show Furtado Coelho as highly responsible for the establishment of theatrical realism in Brazil, since, as an actor, he innovated in Brazilian stages by presenting a new way of acting in line with the realist school and, as an entrepreneur, he continued to stage plays of literary value ate the Ginásio Theater, alternating them with spectacles of entertainment, in a period in which it suffered the competition of the comic and musical theater / Mestre

A (moderna) historiografia teatral de Décio de Almeida Prado /

Leite, Rodrigo Morais, 1977- January 2018 (has links)
(Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: This research presents a reflection on the theatrical historiography of Décio de Almeida Prado, an important critic and historian of Brazilian theater. As an intellectual associated with the third phase of the modernist movement, which some authors call the "Generation of 1945", his aesthetic and historiographical thinking has close ties with a certain conception of the modern world, which explains the title given to this paper. The thesis defended here aims to demonstrate the different overlaps existing between Prado's essays on the country's theatrical past and similar worldviews, aiming to address them in the light of certain parameters, such as the philosophy of history and some aesthetic and theatrical notions that shape this aspect of his writings. However, despite the more concentrated focus on his historiographical essays, the reviews of performances he penned over the years have not been ignored, to the extent that they are included within the scope of this paper, which is intended, as far as this is possible, to analyze Prado's overall thinking. That said, in order to provide a better understanding of the topic, a comparison has been made, throughout the research from start to finish, between Prado's theatrical essays and the literary essays of Antonio Candido, recalling that they both started their careers together when they founded, in partnership with other names such as Paulo Emílio Salles Gomes and Ruy Coelho, the magazine Clima (1941-1944).
