Streptococcus pneumoniae (pneumococcus) remains the main agent responsible for these infections, whether they are invasive or not. Invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD) is one in which pneumococcus is found in noble liquids, that is, previously sterile material. This study aimed to evaluate the microbiological characteristics of pneumococcus in patients admitted to a terciary hospital. Methods: A cross-sectional study with descriptive and analytical analysis, consisted of patients hospitalized at the S?o Lucas Hospital of PUCRS (HSL /PUCRS, Porto Alegre, RS) who had laboratory identification of Streptococcus pneumoniae in noble liquid from January 2005 to July 2016. Results: The majority of the population was male (58.6%) and had a mean age of 55 years (P25-75 31-71). The most frequent diagnostic was pneumonia and pneumococcus was more frequently recovered from blood culture. More than 25% of the studied population had some degree of known immunosuppression (25.3%). There was no difference in mortality when subdividing the population into having comorbidities and / or need for ICU/MV. The overall mortality of the sample was 31.1%. The most common serotypes were 19A, 3, 12F e 8. The theoretical vaccine coverage in the sample was 34.4% for the PPV23 and 50.5% for PCV13 and PPV23 associated. Conclusions: In this IPD sample, the most common serotypes were 19A, 3, 12F and 8, although it was not possible to relate them to a higher mortality ou need to ICU/MV. / Introdu??o: As infec??es respirat?rias s?o respons?veis por alta morbi-mortalidade na maioria dos pa?ses. O Streptococcus pneumoniae (pneumococo) segue sendo o principal agente destas infec??es, sendo elas invasivas ou n?o. Doen?a pneumoc?cica invasiva (DPI) ? aquela em que o pneumococo ? encontrado em l?quidos nobres, isto ?, material previamente est?ril. Este trabalho teve por objetivo avaliar as caracter?sticas microbiol?gicas do pneumococo em pacientes internados em hospital terci?rio. M?todos: Estudo transversal, com an?lise descritiva e anal?tica, realizado com pacientes internados no Hospital S?o Lucas da PUCRS (HSL/PUCRS, Porto Alegre, RS) que apresentaram identifica??o laboratorial de Streptococcus pneumoniae em l?quido nobre, de janeiro de 2005 at? julho de 2016. Resultados: Foram avaliadas 99 cepas de pneumococo. Os pacientes dos quais foram obtidas essas amostras eram em sua maioria do sexo masculino (58,6%) e com idade mediana de 55 anos (P25-75 31-71). O agravo mais frequente foi pneumonia e o pneumococo foi mais frequentemente recuperado em hemocultura. Mais de 25% da popula??o estudada tinha algum grau de imunossupress?o conhecida (25,3%). N?o houve diferen?a de mortalidade ao se subdividir a popula??o em comorbidades e/ ou necessidade de UTI/VM. A mortalidade global da amostra foi 31,1%. Os sorotipos mais comuns foram o 19A, 3, 12F e 8. A cobertura vacinal te?rica na amostra foi de 34,3% para PPV23 isoladamente e de 50,5% para a PCV13 e PPV23 associadas. Conclus?es: Nesta amostra de DPI, os sorotipos mais frequentes foram 19A, 3, 12F e 8, embora n?o tenha sido poss?vel relacionar com maior mortalidade ou necessidade de UTI/VM.

In Natal, as an inducing economic activity of its development, it conforms to the new needs of the capital, expanding, being materialized through several processes and spatial forms. We aim at analyzing one of those processes, which has taken its Northern Administrative Area to (re)define the design of its urban space, through the actions developed by the agents involved with the spatialization of the tertiary activities, at the same time as it redimensions its role as a periphery of Natal, contributing to the study of the recent and growing transformations of the Brazilian capitals. The studied district corresponds to 39.4% of the municipal area and, until recently, was composed by precarious reproduction spaces, unprovided of relevant economical activities. After the boom of the development of extensive housing complexes by SFH/BNH, the area, gradually stopped being a dependent area, and it imposed itself as an economically participant region, with the increase of the trade and services sectors, as well as a favorable place for the appearance of new activities. Its reflexes are noticeable in the achieved spatial configuration. As the main road to induct changes, Dr. Jo?o Medeiros Filho Avenue presents these new tendencies in the production of the intraurban space, concentrating the largest goods and services equipments of the area, through investments of the private and public sectors, which guarantee the capital allocation for the construction of a new centrality / O terci?rio vem (re) definindo e (re) qualificando espa?os urbanos de forma impactante nas cidades, introduzindo novos elementos para a discuss?o da rela??o centro/periferia. Em Natal, enquanto atividade econ?mica motor de seu desenvolvimento, adapta-se ?s novas necessidades do capital, expandindo-se, materializando-se atrav?s de diversos processos e formas espaciais. Objetivamos analisar um desses processos, que tem levado sua Regi?o Administrativa Norte a (re) definir o desenho de seu espa?o urbano, pelas a??es desenvolvidas via agentes envolvidos com a espacializa??o das atividades terci?rias, ao mesmo tempo em que redimensiona o seu papel como periferia de Natal, contribuindo para o estudo das recentes e crescentes transforma??es das capitais brasileiras. A regi?o estudada corresponde a 39,4% da ?rea municipal e at? recentemente era composta por prec?rios espa?os de reprodu??o, desprovida de atividades econ?micas relevantes. For so much, we accomplished bibliographical and documental research during whole the process of construction of the work and the field research based close to in interviews the responsible for the establishments of the modern retail and application of questionnaires with the residents and consumers of the area in subject. Leaving of the understanding that the territory is used by the society producing the movement of capitalist reproduction in the places, we inferred that the expansion of the modern retail in the North Zone has been promoting a new dynamics in your territory, fact that has been valuing the space and attracted investors to the place. Therefore, we organized the study in this dissertation in three chapters: the first, "North Zone: use and occupation of the soil ", brings us the process of historical and social formation of the North Zone inserted in the context of the urban expansion of Natal; the second chapter, " Expansion of the tertiary section: the growth of the modern retail trade in the North Zone", makes direct reference to the tertiary section and the expansion of the I trade modern retailer; and finally, the third surrender, " The territorial dynamics and the modern retail trade in the North Zone of Natal", in which we expose all the results of the field research, looking for to understand the territorial dynamics that the expansion of the modern retail trade has been producing in the study area / Este trabalho estuda a din?mica territorial do com?rcio varejista moderno na Zona Norte de Natal/RN, empreendida pela expans?o desse segmento do setor terci?rio no espa?o pesquisado. For in such a way, one became necessary to the construction of a theoretical boarding that context the national reality, to be able itself to understand the reality local. This way to construct allowed an opening of the field of vision how much to the relevance of if ahead studying the tertiary sector and its weight of the current configuration of the society in a country as Brazil, e especially in a city of a State northeastern, as it is the case of Bayeux. The theoretical boarding had as base the two circuits of the urban economy, the productive reorganization and the transformations in the world of the work, as well as, the space organization and the distinction between the economic and social space of the tertiary activities, from the logic of functioning of the establishments: the regulation. Besides working with referring official data to the tertiary sector, the empirical study it had as reference one hundred and sixty and establishments tertiary, located in four axles of circulation of the city of Bayeux - PB, which are: Av. Liberdade, Av. Engenheiro de Carvalho, Av. Francisco Marques da Fonseca and Av. Marechal Rondon, that they had appeared in such a way stimulated for the processes of urbanization and industrialization lived deeply from years 70 in the "Great Jo?o Pessoa" how much, in the countries of the underdeveloped capitalist world, as Brazil. Being thus, the objective of the work was to study the tertiary sector and its relation with (the re)production of the urban space, standing out the functioning logic / Esta disserta??o tem como objeto de estudo o setor terci?rio e a (re)produ??o do espa?o urbano de Bayeux-PB. Para tanto, fez-se necess?rio ? constru??o de uma abordagem te?rica que contextualizasse a realidade nacional, para se poder entender a realidade local. Essa maneira de construir permitiu uma abertura do campo de vis?o quanto ? relev?ncia de se estudar o setor terci?rio e seu peso diante da atual configura??o da sociedade num pa?s como o Brasil, e especialmente em um munic?pio de um Estado nordestino, como ? o caso de Bayeux. A abordagem te?rica teve como base os dois circuitos da economia urbana, a reestrutura??o produtiva e as transforma??es no mundo do trabalho, bem como, a organiza??o espacial e a distin??o entre o espa?o econ?mico e social das atividades terci?rias, a partir da l?gica de funcionamento dos estabelecimentos: a regulamenta??o.
