Proposta de um vocabulário bilíngue de festas populares brasileiras baseada em um estudo de corpus / A bilingual vocabulary of Brazilian festivals: a model based on a corpus study

Marqueze, Giovana Martins de Castro 24 September 2018 (has links)
The aim of this research is to propose a bilingual vocabulary (Portuguese/English) of Brazilian festivities, which has as its target audience professionals who produce tourist texts in English about Brazil, being them translations or texts written originally in this language. The research has Corpus Linguistics as its methodology and uses a parallel corpus composed of tourist texts about Brazil written originally in Portuguese and their translations into English; and a comparable corpus composed of a subcorpus with tourist texts about Brazil written originally in Portuguese and by a subcorpus with tourist texts written originally in English. With the parallel corpus, we identified the challenges encountered by translators when coming across cultural words related to Brazilian festivities in order to propose a reference work that can meet their needs. The analysis of this corpus draws on the functionalist view of translation and the solutions found by the translators were described according to a list of strategies for the translation of cultural words developed by Marco (2002). As regards the comparable corpus, it helped us with the lexical choices for the definitions of each entry. It also revealed the information each entry should contain. The proposed vocabulary is based on Maria Teresa Cabrés Communicative Theory of Terminology (1999).

La traducción de aspectos culturales en el texto turístico : Problemas y técnicas de traducción al adaptar el texto "Los Caminos del Norte a Santiago" del contexto español al sueco

Ebeling, Sarah January 2015 (has links)
Tourist texts provides information to a wide variety of readers. The main functions of these texts is typically to be both informative and persuasive. When translating a tourist text, the translator should not only maintain these two functions in the target text, but is also faced with the challenge of adapting the text to the premises of the target culture.      The aim of this study is to identify the characteristics of the cultural aspects related to history and religion, as well as the stylistic features in the tourist text Los Caminos del Norte a Santiago. The techniques used in the translation of these aspects from the original spanish cultural context to the new swedish target culture are also studied, more specificly which ones of these translation techniques are the most frecuently used and why.      A cualitative as well as a cuantitative analysis of our translation has been carried out, which indicates that the translation techniques most commonly used regarding the translation of the cultural aspects related to history and religion was amplification and modulation. These were used, for example, in order to compensate for the lack of previous knowledge of the Spanish culture amongst the target text readers. Regarding the adaptation of the style to the target context, modulation and especially generalization was the most commonly used translation techniques. This is due to the intention of making the text less formal and poetic so as to better adjust to the target culture and its textual conventions.

Entre vocablos y volcanes : Dificultades terminológicas y formas de dirigirse al lector en un texto especializado para turistas.

Ringmar, Ingrid Maria January 2015 (has links)
This has paper has two main purposes: to analyze the translation of specialized terminology and ways of addressing the reader in a specialized tourist text in Spanish and its Swedish target text. The terminological difficulties on volcanism in the translation concerns the fact that the semantic field on this topic is diversified in the Canary Islands, contrary to the semantic field on volcanoes in Swedish. The theoretical background in this paper gives keys to describing the meaning of words in terms of connotation and denotation and describes how to use semantic components to solve the difficulties of terminology. The theory applied to the difficulties concerning ways of addressing the reader in the source text, explains the relation between the sender and the reader in terms of distance and closenes. The paper shows that the source text is inconsistent in this matter. To solve this task the translator has adopted a homogeneous way of addressing the reader, to achieve a target text loyal to the Swedish speaking reader and to consistency. The translation of tourist texts has been thought of as being an easy task, not demanding too much of its translators. This paper aims at showing that this is not the case.
