In 1879-1880, E. W. Fritzsch in Leipzig issued a most unusual collection entitled <i>Arrangements of Mozart Piano Sonatas with a freely composed second piano part without opus numbers</i>, prepared by the noted Norwegian composer, Edvard Grieg (1843-1907). The collection of Griegs arrangement of Mozarts works comprises the <i>Piano Sonata in F major, KV 533/494</i> (composed in 1788), <i>Fantasia and the Piano Sonata in C minor, KV 475 and KV 457</i>(composed in 1784), the <i>Piano Sonata in C major, KV 545</i> (composed in 1788), and the <i>Piano Sonata in G major, KV 189h=283</i> (composed in 1775). According to the letter to Dr. Max Abraham, Grieg originally prepared his arrangements of Mozarts four sonatas for pedagogical reasons. In his article Mozart (November 1897), Grieg also mentions his own Mozart editions:<p>
<i>The writer of this article has himself attempted, by using a second piano, to impart to several of Mozarts pianoforte sonatas a tonal effect appealing to our modern ears; and he wishes to add, by way of apology, that he did not change a single one of Mozarts notes, thus preserving the respect we owe to the great master. It is not my opinion that this was an act of necessity; far from it. But provided a man does not follow the example of Gounod, who transformed a Bach prelude into a modern, sentimental, and trivial show piece, of which I absolutely disapprove, but seeks to preserve the unity of style, there is surely no reason for raising an outcry over his desire to attempt a modernization as one way of showing his admiration for an old master.</i><p>
With regard to this collection of Mozart sonatas, this thesis documents the influence of Mozart, a Viennese classical composer, on Grieg, a Norwegian Romantic composer, with a special focus on Mozarts <i>Piano Sonata in F Major, KV 533/494</i> in the arrangement by Grieg. With Griegs bold claim that he did not change a single one of Mozarts notes, this study reveals the authenticity through the critical examination of the musical text in the context of the primary sources.

This examination paper is the account for the author’s work while arranging and registrating the business archives and business records of the Herman Bergman’s Foundry in Stockholm, Sweden. It is part of the one year Masters program in Archival Science at the University of Uppsala. The records are from the beginning of the 1900s to the 1970s. Most of the business archives are from he 1940s to the 1950s. They contain correspondence with swedish sculptors and press cuttings. The archives include glass plates and photographs that depict the works created at the foundry. Decisions and motivations made during the process are treated in the paper. The author discusses availability and the weeding of business archives.

An epicyclic gear mechanism for automobile transmissions is a device which is connected from engine to driving wheels, and the main purpose is to maintain the revolution speed of engine to be in a desired working range while accelerating or decelerating the automobile. The epicyclic gear mechanisms for automobile transmissions in production are mostly Ravigneaux-type, Parallel-connected type and Lepelletier epicyclic mechanisms, and the Lepelletier epicyclic gear mechanisms is a device which is connected with a simple epicyclic gear mechanism besides the input end to increase the total number of speed ratios of an automatic transmission. For the incompletion in the relative design methodology, a systematic methodology of designing Lepelletier epicyclic gear mechanisms for automobile transmission is described. At first, fundamental and gear-shifting operations of the Lepelletier-type automatic transmissions is introduced, and the basic principles of lever analogy is explained, the gear ratio¡¦s analysis for Lepelletier epicyclic gear mechanisms is illustrated to establish the design requirements. Secondly, gearing-sequence is devised base on the lever analogy diagrams, and a systematical procedure to arrange desired clutches and brakes into epicyclic gear mechanisms is provided, then the number of the teeth of all gears can be calculated. At last, the six-speed and eight-speed Lepelletier automatic transmissions are designed base on the above design procedure. The results of this work obtain 19 types of automatic transmission which could reach six-speed.

There are many advantages of Epicyclic gear type automobile transmissions. It is composed more densely and weights lighter. It provides higher gear ratio and can transmit power differentially. Therefore, this type of transmissions are applied to almost every automobiles in recent years. However, the design process of an Epicyclic gear type automobile transmission is more complicated than Counter shaft type one. In the world, there are just two kinds of 8-speed Epicyclic gear type automobile transmission in production. This study introduced a design methodology of Parallel epicyclic gear type automobile transmission by decomposing and recomposing of Lever diagram. First we drew the Lever diagram from given rotation speed ratios. Next we listed all 3-point lever diagrams which are decomposed from the original Lever diagram, and deleted those with unreasonable value of K. Then we listed all combinations of 3-point lever diagram which composed the original Lever diagram, and we got all feasible epicyclic gear train mechanisms. After choosing feasible epicyclic gear train mechanism, we set up necessary clutches and breakes in clutch graphs. Finally, based on the clutch graph, we draw the schematic diagram of mechanisms, and embodies out results. Methodology of this study is better than old ones because our methodology based on Lever diagram did not need to find the usable mechanisms from the catalog of epicyclic gear train mechanisms. Thus, the new methodology simplifies the process of designing a epicyclic gear type automobile transmission.

Study of SERS effect by controlling the arrangement of colloidsLin, Zhe-Hong 15 August 2011 (has links)
In this research, two major experiments, including the self-assembly of silica spheres, were performed by using a physical confinement method with an attractive capillary force. The silica spheres were dragged and aggregated as results of the evaporation of the solvent.
In the first experiment, silica spheres were assembled into the two-dimensional pattered substrate, constructed by the photo-resist film formed under a lithography process. Several patterned substrates could work as a physical trap during the flow of the silica spheres. The ordered arrangement of the silica spheres was controlled by the concentration and the size of the silica spheres, the thickness of the photo-resist film, and the titled angle of the substrate. In our conditions, the silica spheres could orderly arrange in larger area of the substrate.
In the second experiment, a surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) enhancement was observed from a chain of silica spheres with silver nanoparticles, which worked as a excitation source to provid a strong local electromagnetic fields exciting the crystal violet (CV) dye coated on the silica spheres. We found that the CV molecules has a strong SERS intensity due to the refraction and reflection of the incident light within the silica spheres. When the silica spheres were linearly arranged, longer length of the chained silica spheres would lead to a maximum value of the SERS intensity.

When this world has entered the new millennium, the management will also step into the new era with the huge tidal wheel rotating inexorably. Besides, the technology also keeps on innovating. With the rise of information technology and Internet, such conditions will make what was impossible dream before come true. As for the knowledge management, it plays the most important part among the currently existent corporation entities. Also, the knowledge workers will be generally the major sources from knowledge and people are the main originality of knowledge creation with the increasingly significant role within the operation of knowledge management. Furthermore, the so-called international competence means, under the global trend, the corporation will meet with the opportunities and the response against the upcoming challenge. If the corporation wants to successfully survive, it cannot merely restrict its management and development realm on the specific region. The corporation must be equipped with the global vision with the available profit basement to create the success among the international communities.
This research is experimented to practically investigate the characteristics of international corporation and globalization arrangement for resource allocation and the correlation with international competence. Furthermore, this article is also aimed to discuss the impact for the role playing of human resource during the implementation of knowledge management, together with the resource allocation for global arrangement and role playing of human resource management with the influence against the international competence.

Part-time work and Multiple job holders:what makes them different form regular workers?Wan, Chien-pang 31 August 2004 (has links)
Nearing the end of the 20th century, countries across the world have gradually been going into depression, without exception, this effect has also influenced Taiwan. Moreover, with the coming of age of knowledge management and change of the industry structure of the 21st century, thus the industry structure in Taiwan has also gone through some changes, adding many new non-typical jobs into the job market. Some examples include Leased Employess, Telex of Labor, part-time work, multiple job holders.
Previous study on part-time work has been focused on the characteristics of the part-time workers and the influence on female part-time workers¡¦ employment and the reasons why companies use part-time work. Less research has been made on the comparison between part-time workers and regular workers. In the Human Resources of Managenment survey made by the Minster of Affairs in1997, the content regarding multiple job holders describes the distribution situation of multiple job holders. Moreover, with the fast growth of knowledge management, there exists a non-equivalency between the structure of knowledge management and the need of such a structure. Does the increasing numbers of part-time workers and multiple job holders mean that the labor market will take on a more important role? What is the difference between the education level, occupations, industry and income of these workers and regular workers? After a comparison between these two, which gains more profit? These are the questions to be answered in this research.
The statistical information used in this research is secondary information from Directorate General of Budget Accounting and Statistics Executive Yuan, R.O.C regarding the Taiwan region Human Resources of Managenment statistical information, which divides labor into three groups, using work time and income level as a basis to find the characteristics between these three groups. Some implications made from the result of this research has been made for reference for the government.
The results of this research are as the following:
Part-time work
1¡BHighly educated part-time work are more better off than low educated part-time work because they have relatively higher pay for lesser work.
2¡BThe part-time workers of the higher level labor market are better off than the those from the agricultural, forest, fish and pasture and manufacturing.
3¡BThere is an increase of the laborers in the service sector, and a decrease of those from the agricultural, forest, fish and pasture sector, not much change in the manufacturing and industry sector.
4¡BFrom a comparison of the income of these sectors, those in industry have the highest income, and those in services are second ranking, from the level manufacturing gains the most and industry the least.
Multiple job workers
1¡BThese are the least luckiest of the group because they have the highest work hours, but have the same income level as normal workers
2¡BNo matter which profession, multiple job workers are the most laborious because they have more work hours than normal workers but less income than normal workers.
3¡BNo matter which industry, multiple job workers are the most laborious because they have more work hours than normal workers but less income than normal workers.
4¡BThere is an increase of the laborers in the service sector, and a decrease of those from the agricultural, forest, fish and pasture sector, not much change in the manufacturing and industry sector. In the scope of the study, prismatic roughness elements with different longitudinal spacing and arrangements have been tested in a rectangular flume in order to reveal their effects on fundamental characteristics of a hydraulic jump. Two basic
roughness types with altering arrangements have been tested. Roughness elements of the first type extends through the channel width against the flow with varying length
and pitch ratios for different arrangements. The second type is of staggered essence and produced by piecing the roughness elements defined in the initial type into three
parts which are equal in length. The doublet formed from the pieces on the sides is shifted to the consequent row to make two successive roughness rows encapsulate the channel span completely. Staggered roughness type is formed with the repetition of this arrangement along the flume. Independent of their type and arrangement, the entirety of roughness elements are embedded in the channel bed in order to avoid
their protuberance into the flow, based on the presumption that the crests of the roughness elements levelled with the channel inlet would be less exposed to caving effects of flow than the protruding elements.
In the study, influence of the proposed roughness elements on the fundamental engineering concerns as the length, height (tail water depth) and energy dissipation capacity of hydraulic jumps has been questioned in the light of empirical work and related literature on forced and smooth hydraulic jumps.
At the final stage of the study, it was concluded that both strip and staggered roughness have positive effects on the characteristics of hydraulic jump given above. 3-7% more energy dissipation was observed in jumps on rough beds compared to classical hydraulic jumps. For tailwater dept reduction, whereas strip roughness provided 5-13%, staggered roughness led to 7-15% tailwater depth reduction
compared to classical hydraulic jump. While strip roughness reduced jump length around 40%, 35-55% reduction was observed with staggered roughness when compared to classical hydraulic jump.

The purpose of the study is to investigate the level of loneliness and social dissatisfaction among third, fourth and fifth grade elementary school students considering three variables: maternal work status, after school care arrangement type, and after school activities.
The sample of the study consisted of 732 (third, fourth and fifth grade) elementary school students in three public elementary schools in Ankara. In the present study Loneliness and Social Dissatisfaction Scale (Asher & / Wheeler, 1985) and the information form was used. The information form included questions about gender, age, sibling status, after school care arrangement, maternal work status, people/ place they spend their after school time, and activity types done after school.
The results of analysis of variance showed that there is no significant difference in loneliness and social dissatisfaction level of students depending on their after school care arrangement types as relative care, non relative care, sibling/self care, and center care. Moreover, no significant difference was found among loneliness and social dissatisfaction level of students who have working mothers and stay-at-home mothers. Additionally, analysis of the activity types students are involved after school, namely, active, passive and adult supervised/preprogrammed activities, revealed no significant difference in terms of loneliness and social dissatisfaction level. Independent from the analysis done, gender or age differences of students were examined considering their loneliness and social dissatisfaction level. However, no differences were found among the groups.
