Utveckling av ögonstyrt kommunikationshjälpmedel för intensivvårdspatienter / Development of an eyecontrolled communicationaid for patients in intensivecare units

Klasson, Sofia January 2010 (has links)

Thousands of people all over the world suffer from injuries that temporary affects their ability to speak or inother ways communicate. A very common procedure for persons that suffer from some kind of breathingproblem in the higher parts of the neck is called tracheotomy. This prevents the patient from speaking whenno air passes the vocal cords. There have been many studies done to understand how these patientsexperience this period. The results are consistent, the patients often feel fear, frustration and worries aboutthe future.Tobii Technology develops a technique called eyetracking wich enables persons to control a computer with theeyes. In this thesis eyetracking products for persons with permanent communication disabilities are used todevelop a communication aid for people with temporary communication disabilities. This is accomplishedthrough interviews, user interface development techniques and finally an evaluation of the product using afocus groupThousands of people all over the world suffer from injuries that temporary affects their ability to speak or inother ways communicate. Digitalt beslutsträd för val av Tobii Dynavox-produkter : Optimering av produktval för förskrivningsprocessen / Digital Decision Tree for Selecting Tobii Dynavox Products : Optimization of Product Selection for the Prescribing Process

Yazdi, Anna, Nasrin, Yaguobi January 2024 (has links)
This study focuses on the development of an interactive chatbot to facilitate the selection of communication devices for individuals with alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) needs. By integrating MIRO for creating decision trees and Flowchart AI for constructing the chatbot, a structured process for visualizing and implementing content on a web platform is enabled. The decision tree, constructed in MIRO, identifies and organizes various components necessary to create a customized device for each individual within the AAC category. Flowchart AI is utilized to develop an interactive chatbot that guides users through the selection of device, software, and accessories based on their specific needs and preferences. The study also includes prototypes of email notifications to provide users with a summary of recommendations. The culmination of this work results in the successful development of an interactive chatbot that guides users through the selection of suitable Tobii Dynavox products tailored to their individual needs. By offering users a more efficient and targeted recommendation process, the work saves time and resources for both users and professionals, such as speech therapist. The project contributes to improved access to information and guidance in this area, promoting increased accessibility and efficiency in alternative and augmentative communication solutions. Furthermore, the project has promoted knowledge development in the field by creating an interactive program for medical equipment. From a broader societal perspective, the work has also contributed to increased accessibility and efficiency in alternative and augmentative communication, potentially enhancing the quality of life for individuals in need of these solutions. The work has reduced the risk of erroneous choices and enhanced users' ability to communicate effectively and independently.

Gameplay experience with eye tracking

Fekete, Lorand, Hagelbäck, Maria January 2012 (has links)
This study is about how a person who is used to play games experiences playing a game with their eyes as input. The participants played a 3D game where the player had to collect coins by moving a ball over them. The participants first tried the game with keyboard as input and then right after only interacting by gazing via screen. The achieved score was recorded both for input from keyboard and input from eye. After the game session the participants were asked to answer two questionnaires that contained questions about their background and questions referring to the game they just played. The experiment was performed in a lab with a TobiiT60 eye tracker. All participants got lower score when they used eye tracking as input but most of the participants found it to be more fun. We reached the conclusion that, with the game used in our experiment, the participants felt that gaining a high score was not the most important. Instead they ranked having fun as a more important factor. Our experiment has shown that using an eye tracker can make a casual game more fun.

Gaze control for detail and overview in image exploration / Gaze control for detail and overview in image exploration

Rauhala, Sebastian January 2015 (has links)
Eye tracking technology has made it possible to accurately and consistently track a users gaze position on a screen. The human eyes center of focus, where it can see the most detailed information, is quite small at a given moment. The peripheral vision of humans have a much lower level of details than the center of gaze. Knowing this, it is possible to display a view that increases the level of resolution at the position of the users gaze point on the screen, while the rest of the screen keeps a lower resolution. An implementation of such a system can generate a representation of data with both detail and overview. The results indicate that even with simple gaze data processing it is possible to use gaze control to help explore details of a high resolution image. Gaze data processing often involve a compromise between stability, responsiveness and latency. A low latency, highly responsive gaze data filter would increase the risk for lens oscillation, and demand a higher concentration level from the viewer then a slower filter would. Applying a gaze data filter that allowed for smooth and stable lens movement for small saccades and responsive movements for large saccades proved successfully. With the uses of gaze control the user might be able to use a gaze aware application more efficient since gaze precedes actions. Gaze control would also reduce the need for hand motions which could provide a improved work environment for people interacting with computer.

Worldspace Heatmaps

Krishnan Sherly, Rishi, Guo, Mengwei, Liu, Guanting January 2021 (has links)
Many games are set in 3D worlds and have shifting camera viewpoints. In this study, we attempt to create and evaluate a Proof-of-Concept Worldspace Heatmap System that accounts for the shifting camera views in 3D game worlds, in an attempt to improve user testing processes. We test the system by conducting a stimulated recall user study, in which we examine the areas in a game that drew the attention of the participants, with the help of heatmaps placed in the game world. Our results include observations of several behavior patterns and participant evaluations of the Worldspace Heatmap System. We observed multiple indications in the data we gathered, that such a system can be useful for obtaining player behavior insights and for enhancing user testing processes, especially if some of the limitations are overcome.
