Cette these pose l'hypothese de la particularite du groupe des camionneurs de longue-distance (truckeurs) tant sur le plan des realites sous-culturelles que sur celui des discours ideologiques. / Le travail de terrain s'est effectue dans le nord-ouest quebecois, c'est-a-dire en Abitibi et a la Baie James. / Appliquant le concept de culture la ou l'on aurait tendance a avoir recours au concept du groupe de travail (occupationnel), s'appuyant sur la notion d'ideologie des truckeurs la ou l'on parlerait normalement d'ideologie de classe, l'argumentation demontre que le groupe d'identite en question est un groupe sous-culturel de plein droit, existant dans un territoire abstrait: l'univers routier. / A partir de la description detaillee du proces de travail dans la perspective de la vie quotidienne, la these tente de faire l'analyse du "plaisir d'etre truckeur" en developpant une problematique specifique autour de la notion de force ainsi que de celles du controle, du rythme, de la meditation, du tournoi et de la creation de mondes. / En ce sens, c'est une contribution a la comprehension des modes d'existence contemporains de la pensee et de la pratique symbolique.

As atividades de transporte rodoviário de cargas têm evoluído ao passo em que o mercado exige serviços diferenciados, no que se refere a velocidade, confiabilidade, com custos compatíveis. Circunstâncias que condicionam as empresas prestadoras que atuam no ramo de transportes empenhar esforços na melhoria dos seus processos de gestão, tencionando posicionar-se em um cenário competitivo. Conhecer os processos de maneira sistêmica possibilita tomada de decisões mais assertivas e para tanto, compreender as restrições oriundas das adversidades do mercado e ou perdas que advenham dos procedimentos organizacionais são itens fundamentais para a melhoria da gestão organizacional. Nesta perspectiva, esta dissertação objetivou compreender restrições e perdas no contexto do transporte rodoviário de cargas, tomando como adágio as Teorias das Restrições e o Sistema Toyota de Produção. Para tanto, foi desenvolvido estudo com natureza da pesquisa aplicada, abordagem qualitativa, exploratório e com procedimento técnico estudo de caso. Por meio da categorização, foi possível identificar e analisar informações que em última instância, atenderam os objetivos propostos neste estudo. Os elementos com mais influxo, foram a ruptura na comunicação entre o comando tático da matriz para com as operações de cada uma das unidades estratégicas de negócio, a gestão dos processos de forma eficiente e eficaz entre unidades e as perdas oriundas de avaria, erros de aferição e descaminhos de mercadorias. In this perspective, this dissertation aims to understand the constraints and losses in the context of road transport, taking as adage on Theory of Constraints and on Toyota Production System, therefore, was developed a study with applied research essence, qualitative approach, exploratory and technical procedure case study. Through the categorizing, it was possible to identify and analyze information that in the last instance, met the objectives proposed in this study. The elements with most influx were the breakdown in communication between the tactical command of the headquarters towards the operations of each strategic business units, the management of process in an efficient and effective way between units and losses in regarding to damages, measurement errors and waywardness of goods. The results obtained aim to the business and academic environment, by identifying constraints and losses, improvements on making plausible decisions in the organization and scientific contribution.

Modeling, simulation, and optimization of traffic intersections using petri nets

Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) / With the increasing number of vehicles on the road and the amount of time people spend driving their vehicles, traffic control and management has become an important part within logistics. Effective traffic control would involve traffic signal control and control over vehicle movement. Since Petri nets are versatile enough to represent traffic signals and traffic flow, it has become an important tool in urban traffic control. Many traffic systems are modeled using hybrid Petri nets. Chapter 1 briefly talks about traffic management systems and previous related work in the area of traffic control. Chapter 2 is a basic background on various Petri nets used in the study. The section also uses examples to demonstrate the working of Petri nets. Chapter 3 introduces the need for optimization in various industry. And then, it discusses different steps involved in optimizing a process. Chapter 4 discusses the existing model of two one-way intersection. In an effort to understand the model better, simulations are also carried out. Then, drawbacks of the existing model are discussed. This paves way for a new, improved, and realistic version of two one-way intersection. Various optimization steps discussed in Chapter 3 is used to optimize traffic light of the improved model. And then, a comparison between existing model and improved model is carried out. Chapter 5 expands the study of traffic models by connecting two different one-way intersection through a road (thus making it a network). Optimization and simulation of the connected-intersection model is also carried out. Chapter 6 is the summary which will provide a brief overview about each chapter.
