Vliv specifické spotřeby flokulantu na odvodnitelnost čistírenského kalu / Dependence of Sludge Dewatering efficiency on amount of flocculant

Volejník, Tomáš January 2008 (has links)
The target of the first part of this diploma thesis is focused on the problems relating to the sludge production from the wastewater treatment plant and subsequent sludge treatment. Wastewater treatment plant and individual processes from the sludge management are described. The process of the sludge dewatering is described more extensively. Various methods of the dewatering and materials balance are described, too. The second part of this thesis is based on the experiment which took place on wastewater treatment plant Tetčice. The influence of the polymeric organic flocculant dosing on the sludge dewatering was monitored by this experiment. Dependence of the sludge dry matter and filtrate suspended solids content on the specific amount of flocculant was evaluated from experiment’s outputs. Using materials balance and outputs of the experiment, economical balance was made. It made possible to choose the most economic and technologically optimal way of the sludge dewatering on wastewater treatment plant Tetčice.

Studium průniku „musk“ sloučenin do abiotických a biotických složek vodních ekosystémů / Study of Transfer of Musk Compounds in Abiotic and Biotic Components of Aquatic Ecosystems

Zouhar, Libor January 2013 (has links)
This work was focused on the determination of musk compounds in various components of the environment. Synthetic musk compounds are organic substances commonly used as fragrant constituents of detergents, perfumes, cosmetics and other personal care products (PCPs). These compounds contaminate the aquatic environment through municipal wastewater from sewage treatment plants. The result is accumulation of these analytes in the environment and their occurrence in food chain. Synthetic fragrances are commonly detected also in human body; these substances generally belong among relatively new persistent organic pollutants (POPs) because of their persistence, bioaccumulation, and potential toxicity. The aim of this work was to optimize the methods for the determination of selected synthetic fragrances in wastewater (municipal, industrial) and in fish muscle. These analytes were determined in wastewater [the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) Brno – Modřice, cosmetic manufacturing plant] and in fish Squalius cephalus that had been caught in the river Svratka. The selected analytes (14 substances) originate from the group of nitromusk, polycyclic musk and linear musk compounds. Solid phase microextraction (SPME) [for wastewater samples] and pressurized solvent extraction (PSE) [for fish samples] were used for isolation of analytes from real samples. The identification and quantification of analytes were carried out by high resolution gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry detection (GC-MS). The results show that galaxolide (g.L-1) and tonalide (tenths of g.L-1) were polycyclic musk compounds which were found at the highest concentration level in influent and also in effluent samples from the WWTP Brno – Modřice. The most extended nitromusk compound was musk ketone (hundredths of g.L-1). Linear musk compounds were detected in all influent samples (g.L-1). The overall removal efficiency of synthetic musk compounds from wastewater in the WWTP varies within the following ranges: nitromusk compounds 34.4 % – 85.4 %, polycyclic musk compounds 36.7 % – 53.3 % and linear musk compounds 90.5 % – 99.9 %. On the basis of the results it can be stated that wastewater (effluent from the WWTP) is the primary source of musk compounds, especially of the polycyclic ones in the environment. It has been also shown that ultrafiltration used in a cosmetic plant is a highly efficient technology for removing nitromusk and polycyclic musk compounds from industry wastewater. The results from evaluation of the fish contamination by musk compounds show that galaxolide was the substance which reached the highest concentration levels (tens of g.kg-1 l.w.). The results corroborate ubiquitous occurrence of musk compounds in the environment and reduction of using of nitromusk compounds due to their potential toxic properties. It has been shown that the insufficiency of the purifying procedures used in the WWTP Brno – Modřice has a significant influence on the concentration level of polycyclic musk compounds (tonalide, galaxolide) in fish caught from the river Svratka.

Hodnocení technického stavu úpraven vody / Evaluation of the Technical State of Water Treatment Plants

Přecechtěl, Karel January 2016 (has links)
The subject of this thesis is to create evaluation criteria of technical condition of water treatment plants. The thesis is divided into four parts. In the first part of this thesis are presented evaluation systems by performance indicators drinking water treatment plants, which are then applied in real time. There are detailed descriptions of individual performance indicators. Each evaluation conducted certain period of time. After the expiry of the period under review was to evaluate and create charts to display results. In the next chapter the thesis focuses on the identification data. First, it was necessary to find out all necessary information about the water treatment plant. Necessary information means information relating to building construction, human resources, mechanical parts, technological equipment and other entities with links to the operation of the water treatment plant. All these data were sorted for better overview and facilitate setting evaluation indicators. The third part of this thesis is focused on the development of indicators that are used to determine the current status of the water treatment plant. As a first step was established 19 indicators used to evaluate the condition of the entire water treatment plant. Followed by a description of the individual indicators and then determine the individual evaluation criteria. In the last part of this thesis was carried out by the proposed criteria on selected water treatment plants. They were selected three water treatment plants located in the Czech Republic, which held a personal tour of each water treatment plant. This was followed by an overall assessment of the technical condition of water treatment plants.

An Evaluation of Fish and Macroinvertebrate Response to Effluent Dechlorination in Pecan Creek

Wise, Patricia D. (Patricia Diane) 05 1900 (has links)
This study evaluated the effects of chlorinated effluent discharged from the City of Denton, Texas' wastewater treatment plant on Pecan Creek's fish and macroinvertebrate assemblages, and their recovery upon dechlorination. A baseline of ecological conditions was established while chlorine was present in the effluent (June 1993- October 1993), and was evaluated again after dechlorination with sulfur dioxide (October 1993-August 1994). In situ Asiatic clam and fathead minnow ambient toxicity tests, and fish and macroinvertebrate collections were used to establish this baseline for comparison to post-dechlorination results.

Using linear regression and neural network to forecast sewer flow from X-band radar data / Användning av linjär regression och neurala nätverk för att förutsäga avloppsflöde utifrån X-band radardata

Wigertz, Fredrik January 2021 (has links)
The climate adaptation of our cities and the optimization of our technical systems with regards to weather sets high demands on the availability and the processing of weather data. The possibility to forecast disturbances of influent flow rate to wastewater treatment plants allow control systems counteract these disturbances before they have a harmful effect on the treatment processes. These forecasts can be made by different models A neural network models complex patterns between different data sets through a multi-layered structure containing a large amount of transformation functions. The aim of this project was to examine how the complex neural network performed compared with a simpler linear regression model when forecasting wastewater flow using high resolution X-band rain radar data. The study also investigated to what extent X-band rain radar data contributes to the performance of the model. The performance was evaluated at rain flow periods only. Wastewater flow data were provided by Avedøre wastewater treatment plant in Copenhagen operated by BIOFOS. The X-band rain radar data was provided by HOFOR. The neural network was developed by Informetics on the TensorFlow platform. This project concluded that the neural network and the linear regression model performed equally well at predicting when a rain flow period began. The neural network was more accurate at predicting the flow rate while the linear regression was better at approximating the accumulated flow over an entire rain flow period. Using additional rain data up to 30 km within the radar station location in comparison with using data only from within the catchment indicated a 20 to 30-minutes improvement of possible lead time. A conceivable lead time when forecasting the sewer flow to Avedøre wastewater treatment plant was estimated to be around 4 hours. Modellerna utvärderades endast under regnflödesperioder.
