Thesis (M.A.) --University of Limpopo, 2011 / This study is to conduct a detailed study of milieu in a number of Xitsonga novels in I Vutomi by Lubis CM and Xona hi Xihi? by DR Maluleke. This study also emphasizes on how the characters are depicted in rural areas and urban places. Lubisi and Maluleke are able to enlighten the community about the importance of establishing the distinct relationship between space and time. The first chapter is a general introduction that outlines and provides background of the study. Milieu as well as its manifestation in I Vutomi and Xona hi Xihi? is discussed in the second chapter. The third chapter deals with characterization. In the fourth chapter, the main theme of the novels is critically examined. The fifth chapter is a brief overview of the first four chapters. It also summarizes the findings of the research and provides recommendations.

Thesis ( M.A. ( African Languages)) --University of Limpopo, 2013 / The main aim of this study is to examine the way in which women are explored and explained by authors with special reference to Xitsonga novels, Ri xile by S.B. Nxumalo and Sasavona by D.C. Marivate. The first chapter reveals the general outline of the study, the problem statement, the aim, the importance and its methodology. The most important terms of the study has been explained in this chapter so as to reveal what is expected to be analyzed. Chapter two gives short summary of the novels Sasavona by D.C. Marivate and Ri xile by S.B. Nxumalo which have been examined together with the history of their authors. The definitions of the word characters and characterization have been included and defined in this chapter. In this chapter, the novels which have been selected to be analysed have been analysed. Chaper three explains, defines and analysed the themes of selected two novels. The definitions of theme has been given in this chapter. This definitions will make readers to understand what theme is. Chapter four deals with the setting or milieu of the above mentioned novels. Chapter five deals with the general summary of this mini-dissertation. The recommendations and recommendations for further research have been indicated in this chapter.

D.Litt. et Phil. (African Languages) / The aim of this thesis is to examine praise poetry in Xitsonga (Tsonga) and other related aspects of verbal art. Praise poetry in Xitsonga (Tsonga) covers a very wide field of study as in other South African languages and seven chapters are devoted thereto in this study. In Chapter 1 an overview is given of the aim of the research. A comparative overview of praise poetry in ether African languages is also given. Chapter 2 deals with approaches and the methodology of the research and other topics. The performance approach and other complementary approaches are included. Chapter 3 is devoted to verbal art in general. The purpose of this chapter is to make one aware that praise poetry is a branch of verbal art. A few examples are analysed. Chapter 4 discusses praise poetry In Xitsonga in detail in socio-political, educational, socio-cultural, religious communication and economic contexts. Finally, mass media communication is discussed, for example, boast praise poetry by radio announcers and regular callers. Chapter 5 concentrates on the textual features of praise poetry in Xitsonga. This chapter aims to investigate some of the literary features and other linguistic or stylistic features, to indicate that they are also found in Xitsonga. Chapter 7 is the conclusion of the study, where the findings are summarised briefly.

Thesis (M. A. ( Translation Studies)) --University of Limpopo, 2014 / This topic outlined the importance of translation of Xitsonga novel which is translated in Xitsonga by G.S. Mayevu. This showed how translation is so important in Xitsonga language. Mayevu and other translators had tried their level best to better the Xitsonga language through translation. This research pointed out in details problems which translators come across and how these problems can be overcomed. In this research, we also realised how scarce students who are doing translation are. The researcher also recommend that translation be taken into consideration in the world at large because people can together, discuss and agree on issues through translation.
