Unsupervised Topic Modeling to Improve Stormwater InvestigationsArvidsson, David January 2022 (has links)
Stormwater investigations are an important part of the detail plan that is necessary for companies and industries to write. The detail plan is used to show that an area is well suited for among other things, construction. Writing these detail plans is a costly and time consuming process and it is not uncommon they get rejected. This is because it is difficult to find information about the criteria you need to meet and what you need to address within the investigation. This thesis aims to make this problem less ambiguous by applying the topic modeling algorithm LDA (latent Dirichlet allocation) in order to identify the structure of stormwater investigations. Moreover, sentences that contain words from the topic modeling will be extracted to give each word a perspective of how it can be used in the context of writing a stormwater investigation. Finally a knowledge graph will be created with the extracted topics and sentences. The result of this study indicates that topic modeling and NLP (natural language processing) can be used to identify the structure of stormwater investigations. Furthermore it can also be used to extract useful information that can be used as a guidance when learning and writing stormwater investigations.

The Transformation Of Urban Space At The Conjunction Of The Old And New Districts: The City Of AleppoAras Miroglu, Ebru 01 January 2005 (has links) (PDF)
The urban space is subjected to countless transformations depending on multiple reasons such as urban planning decisions, the administrative system and regulations. In this context, the aim of this thesis is to reveal the spatial transformation of an urban area at the conjunction of the old and new districts of a historical city. A morphological analysis method depending on quantitative and qualitative chaarcteristics will be utilized to understand its changing spatiality.

This work lies in the field of what we call historical geography, that is, an analysis of the space datached from the present time, with an eye to the past in order to understand the structures that generate certain spatial configurations and formation processes of a capitalist city. Locating in space-time, our work aims to verify whether the economic conditions of the final years of the nineteenth century impacted the urban process in the city of Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais. During this period, the progressive development of techniques allowed the world economy to achieve, for the first time, a significant globalization stage. In this context, we have identified a growing and controversial interference of the central countries in the economies of peripheral countries such as Brazil. Combined with a set of internal policies, these interventions have fostered the Encilhamento crisis in this country, a period characterized by the opening of numerous corporations, the extreme deregulation of the capital market and for an exorbitant emission of currency. At the same time, the Republic of Proclamation granted through the Constitution of 1891, a significant change in policy until then denied by the Empire: the municipal autonomy. Ratified by the Constitution of Minas Gerais, the municipalities took the reins of management of urban space and became a central figure in this process. Together, these political and economic changes have led to a sharp acceleration of the urban process of Juiz de Fora, marked by the commodification of urban land, the consolidation of a securities market, and a profusion of public works.

The River landscape, new vector of project in European cities : the two Rhenish cities case : Strasbourg and BaselBoudeffa, Abderrahmane Mehdi 24 May 2018 (has links)
The establishment of policies to “reconquer” the edges of water, marked today the new craze of the Rhenish Europe for its river. Cities as Basel, Strasbourg… etc… are rediscovering the Rhine and its shores which they had denied the whole urban quality, to make it now, a major asset in their development policy and their overall development. The many examples of the current revaluation raise the question of the existence of a common model concerning the development of the shores and the fronts of water. Our study is part of a comparative perspective on a European scale. From this point, we have evaluated the process of return to the river through the landscape. The recourse to various axes of analysis aimed to determine the integration level of the river in the structure of the cities studied. The look, on many recent regional projects, relating to the Rhine and the participants’ collection of stories have enabled us to articulate the different representations of the river in order to get a more complete vision about. This study takes us on the traces of a cultural history which evaluates the importance of political, economic and social factors in relation to the river.
