Does Short-form Video Application Shape Your Life? : An Empirical Study of TikTok Usage and Persuasive Behavior Change in China

Wang, Ruina January 2022 (has links)
Persuasive Technology(PT) was pioneered by BJ Fogg. The theory has been developed in several aspects and applied in education, health, entertainment, and online shopping. Short-form video application TikTok first launched in the media market in 2016. During the global COVID-19 pandemic period, the growing popularity of TikTok helped it reach over 800 million users. As the new form of social media, it is persuasively shaping people’s life. The paper aims to investigate the relationship between behavior change and TikTok usage. Quantitative and qualitative research methods were used to investigate 178 participants. The research mainly focused on Chinese university students whose ages are around 18 to 25 as the target group. The result shows that 57.3% of participants feel the behavior change and 15.7% of them are not sure about that. In the qualitative research, from the in-depth interview, participants who are not sure about the effect also make using TikTok a habit without perception. The findings of this paper provide evidence that TikTok as a persuasive system has effects on users’ behavior and even changed their attitudes. The ethical concerns and sustainability are also discussed in the following parts.

Halses, Anton, Essinger, Filip January 2021 (has links)
As the workplace becomes increasingly digital, tasks have shifted from being physically demanding to instead digitally processing knowledge and information. Employees are therefore regarded as knowledge workers and for them to succeed in the digital workplace, they place high demands on IT systems that encourage communication, collaboration and document management. To meet the knowledge workers needs, it has become increasingly common to implement collaboration platforms. However, organizations often implement collaboration platforms without further thought about how they should be used. At the same time, there is no knowledge of previous research that shows what factors make employees use collaboration platforms. The purpose of the thesis is therefore to investigate which factors lead to IT accustomed knowledge workers in the IT consulting industry using the collaboration platform in the digital workplace. By examining knowledge workers' perceptions of their use, we hope to be able to find answers to the factors that contribute to the use of collaboration platforms. The thesis applies a qualitative approach through semi-structured interviews on ten IT accustomed knowledge workers divided into two organizations in the IT consulting industry. To consider socio-technical aspects of use, empiricism has been analyzed with a conceptual model that integrates Theory of planned behavior and Technology acceptance model. Our results show that attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, perceived usefulness and perceived ease-of-use play an influential role in the use of collaboration platforms. At the same time, subjective norms and perceived usefulness are proposed to be the factors that have the strongest impact on use.

Kyläkorpi, Joel January 2022 (has links)
The aim of this study is to investigate which effects the introduction of the new legislation for bicyclestreets has on road users. The focus has been on studying road users' compliance, accessibility andexperience of bicycle streets. Since the legislation came into force in December 2020, vehicles entering abicycle street have a duty to give way to road users on the bicycle street and drivers of motor vehicleshave to adapt their speed to the bicycle traffic. There is also a general speed limit of 30 km/h and parkingis only allowed in designated areas. The report consists of three main sections, the first of which reviews the history and dialogue behind thecurrent legislation and addresses some of the main points of criticisms leveled at it. This was exploredthrough a detailed review of the available documents and studies dealing with bicycle streets. Thesecond part aims to review the conditions for cycle streets in Sweden and to provide an overview of theopportunities and challenges that exist. This part includes, among other things, thorough examinationsof previous studies of bicycle streets, existing bicycle streets in Sweden, similar legislation and aninternational outlook where bicycle streets in other countries in Northern Europe are studied. The lastpart is a case study of one of Sweden's first bicycle streets in Varberg where, among other things, speeds, movement patterns and yielding behavior of road users are studied. This was investigatedthrough radar measurements, video analysis and visual observations on site. Furthermore, two differentsurveys were carried out, one of which aimed to find out the opinions and experiences of road users onthe bicycle street in Varberg. The second survey was of a more general nature and aimed to collect roadusers' opinions on issues related to bicycle streets. The results indicate that there is a general consensus among experts, planners and road users thatbicycle streets have the potential to improve cyclists' accessibility and road safety and, in the long term,to encourage more people to cycle. However, several shortcomings are found in the existing legislationthat many believe prevent the bicycle street from achieving its purpose. For example, there are currentlyno official guidelines on how a bicycle street should be designed and there is also older legislation thatprevents cyclists from being able to use the whole roadway and cycle side by side. The case study revealsseveral interesting findings that confirm several points of criticism of bicycle streets and its legislation.Among other things, the majority of the observed cyclists chose to take up space in the roadway and alsoride side by side. The survey results also indicate that a change in traffic regulations to allow this onbicycle streets is something that is desired by a majority. Based on the results of the study, severalsuggestions are made for regulation changes that would make the bicycle street better serve its purpose. For example, it is suggested that cyclists should always be allowed to use the whole roadway and rideside by side on bicycle streets. It is also recommended that the responsible authorities develop nationalrecommendations for the physical design of cycle lanes as soon as possible. As for other common viewson regulatory changes, such as whether or not overtaking of cyclists should be allowed and what speedlimit should apply on bicycle streets, further studies need to be carried out before any conclusions canbe drawn.

Comparison of Distance Metrics for Trace Clustering in Process Mining : An Effort to Simplify Analysis of Usage Patterns in PACS / En jämförelse av distansmetriker för användning inom traceclus-tering i process mining

Sjöbergsson, Christoffer January 2022 (has links)
This study intended to validate if clustering could be used to simplify models generated with process mining. The intention was also to see if these clusters could suggest anything about user efficiency. To that end a new metric where devised, average mean duration deviation. This metric aimed to show if a trace was more or less efficient than a comparative trace. Since the intent was to find traces with similar characteristics the clustering was done with characteristic features instead of time efficiency features. The aim was to find a correlation between efficiency after the fact. A correlation with efficiency could not be found.

Mobilapplikationer : användarens syn på energiförbrukningen. / Mobile application : user’s view on energy consumption.

Daka, Festim, Trinh, Stefan January 2013 (has links)

Factors Influencing New Product Acceptance: A Study On Military Context

Simsek, Diler 01 October 2008 (has links) (PDF)
Attitudes of users towards new Information Technology products have been the matters of consumer research studies. Factors that affect user behavior in terms of IT acceptance have been modeled by different researchers with an attempt to predict the actual usage. This study aims to analyze these factors and their significance in military context. One of the robust models, namely Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) is used as the study model with required modifications in order to augment its compatibility. Therefore an exploratory survey study is conducted within the target user group of two rugged mobile computers with the participation of 37 Turkish sergeants. The study used both qualitative and quantitative instruments. The results showed that, for military products, users acceptance criteria mainly concentrate on the performance of the new product and its relative ease of use.

Impact of implicit data in a job recommender system

Wakman, Josef January 2020 (has links)
Many employment services base their online job recommendations to users based solely on explicit data in their profiles. The implicit data of what users for example click on, save and mark as irrelevant goes unused. Instead of making recommendations based on user behavior they make a direct comparison between user preferences and job ad attributes. A reason for this is the concern that the inclusion of implicit data can give odd recommendations resulting in a loss of credibility for the service. However, as research has shown this to be of great advantage to recommender systems. In this paper I implement a job recommender and test it both with user data including interaction history with job ads as well as with only explicit data. The results of the recommender with implicit data got better overall performance, but negligible gain in the ratio between true and false positives, or in other words the ratio between correct and incorrect recommendations.

Analýza anomálií v uživatelském chování / User Behavior Anomaly Detection

Petrovič, Lukáš January 2019 (has links)
The aim of this work is to create an application that allows modeling of user behavior and subsequent search for anomalies in this behavior. An application entry is a list of actions the user has executed on his workstation. From this information and from information about the events that occurred on this device the behavioral model for a specific time is created. Subsequently, this model is compared to models in different time periods or with other users' models. From this comparison, we can get additional information about user behavior and also detect anomalous behavior. The information about the anomalies is useful to build security software that prevents valuable data from being stolen (from the corporate enviroment).
