This study is conducted in order to obtain information on the causes and methods of killings grounded by honor, and through which processes and by whom these killings are realized. The rationale behind honor killings is based on a primitive understanding of justice. The relatives of the killed person assume the honor of their family, clan etc. is cleaned, and justice achieved. What may be the reasons of the persistence of such an understanding of justice in present day? In trying to answer this question, the meaning and perception of the concept of honor, the social and historical roots of the honor killings, how these killings come about, the role and impacts of these killings in society are examined.

Therefore, we used the deductive methodological approach, initiated by a historical background on the evolution of women's rights, followed later by theoretical analysis of this form of violence, with a reference intakes of Criminology Critical after Alessandro Baratta, sociology as Pierre Bourdieu and Communication theory Niklas Luhmman, which makes up the theoretical framework that was adopted in research to understand the incidence of violence in the region, which is empirically observed from the criminal data for the years 2014 and 2015 provided by the 4th Battalion of Police Military institution whose constituency that area. Out yet used a functionalist procedural approach, based on the understanding that domestic violence against women in this region need to be analyzed under different approaches, since it is the result of the correlation between various social actions and reactions that systematically interact and is also structurally made up different functionally interconnected elements (patriarchal power, gender differences, symbolic violence, socioeconomic factors, etc.). Thus, we sought to recognize the mechanisms under which operates this form of violence to understand its multiple facets and complexity and thus understand its operation in the investigated environment. / Este trabalho trata sobre a violência doméstica e familiar contra a mulher na 8ª Área Integrada de Segurança Pública (8ª AISP), situada na Mesorregião do Agreste do Estado da Paraíba, especificamente, partindo da indagação sobre as raízes constitutivas deste problema nesta região. Para tanto, foi utilizada a abordagem metodológica dedutiva, iniciada por uma contextualização histórica sobre a evolução dos direitos femininos, seguindo posteriormente pela análise teórica desta forma de violência, tendo como referenciais os aportes da Criminologia Crítica segundo Alessandro Baratta, da Sociologia conforme Pierre Bourdieu e da Teoria da Comunicação de Niklas Luhmman, os quais compõem o arcabouço teórico que foi adotado na pesquisa para compreender a incidência desta violência na região, a qual é empiricamente observada a partir dos dados criminais referentes aos anos de 2014 e 2015 fornecidos pelo 4º Batalhão de Polícia Militar, instituição que tem como circunscrição a referida área. Fora utilizada ainda uma abordagem procedimental funcionalista, calcada na compreensão de que a violência doméstica contra a mulher nesta região necessita ser analisada sob distintos enfoques, uma vez que é fruto da correlação entre diferentes ações e reações sociais que sistematicamente interagem e também é estruturalmente constituída por diferentes elementos funcionalmente interligados (poder patriarcal, diferenças de gênero, violência simbólica, fatores socioeconômicos, etc.). Desta forma, buscou-se reconhecer os mecanismos sob os quais opera esta forma de violência para compreender suas múltiplas facetas e complexidade e, assim, entender sua operacionalização no ambiente investigado.

It contributed, therefore, the feminist historical oppression, by the patriarchal connotation biblical, religious and social for the enactment of laws that, notoriously, inhibited in the human genesis the devaluation by the feminine condition. Its recrudescence, in the social context, in Brazil needed to establish equality between the sexes, by the Federal Constitution of 1988 and specific punishment for gender violence, due to the publication of the Laws of Maria da Penha (Lei nº 11.340 / 2006), besides the Feminicide Law no. 13.104 / 2015), to reduce the existing androcentric intolerance in Brazilian society, still pending social re-signification, to reduce contempt, humiliation, monetization and domestic violence, so common in Brazilian homes. / Esta tese tem por fito aquilatar a violência em detrimento da mulher, no Antigo Testamento, que serviu de amálgama religioso para alijamento dela, no meio social de dominação masculina, não sem antes proceder uma abordagem da história hebraica, além da contextualização dos códigos antigos hebreus: Aliança, Deuteronômico e Levítico, com a intercalação e paradoxo da violência exercitada contra ela em cada qual dos códices veterotestamentários, que se transfundiram para todas as sociedades, até mesmo as mais modernas, no Ocidente. Contribuiu, assim, a opressão histórica feminina, pela conotação patriarcal bíblica, religiosa e social para a promulgação de leis que, notoriamente, inibiram na gênese humana o desvalor pela condição feminina. Seu recrudescimento, no contexto social, no Brasil necessitou estabelecer igualdade entre sexos, pela Constituição Federal de 1988 e punição específica pra a violência de gênero, em virtude da edição das Leis Maria da Penha (Lei nº 11.340/2006), além do Feminicídio (Lei nº 13.104/2015), para amainar a intolerância androcêntrica existente na sociedade brasileira, ainda pendente de ressignificação social, para diminuição do desprezo, humilhação, monetarização e da violência doméstica, tão comum nos lares brasileiros.
