1	Project Aphatar : An Experiment and Implementation Teodoro, Gregory January 2013 (has links) Aphasia is an acquired communication disorder that affects the ability of a person to speak and understand spoken language. The purpose of the Aphatar project is to create a virtual clinician that will help suffers of aphasia improve their speech in common scenarios. The project will gauge the interaction and quality of this virtual clinician against those of a real clinician. Aphatar will be created using three major systems: (1) KINECT for audio and visual recording, audio input, and future work in reading the client's emotional state using the KINECT 3D Camera system, (2) The Olympus Speech Recognition System, provided by Carnegie-Mellon University which will accept the audio input of the user and translate it from speech to text then provide spoken feedback to the user, and (3) the Avatar display system, which will provide the graphical interface for the former, allowing the user to see the avatar and interact with it. / Computer and Information Science Computer Science Aphasia Avatar Olympus Ravenclaw Speech Therapy Virtual Therapy
2	Virtual Walk-In Single Session Therapy: A Multiple-Case Study of Parents' Self-Efficacy Renauld, Julia-Chrissoula 10 August 2022 (has links) Various community-based mental health and family agencies offer walk-in counselling services, where clients are provided with immediate access to a single session of brief therapy without appointments or referrals. Several studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of single-session therapy (SST) delivered within walk-in counselling clinics. This type of service delivery model has been found to be helpful for parents, who experience decreased hopelessness and psychological distress by increasing their confidence about their parenting. The purpose of this multiple case study was to investigate how parents perceived their parenting self-efficacy over time following a virtual single-session therapy at a children's mental health centre. Additionally, this study explored how parents perceived their overall experience utilizing this type of service delivery model. Eight mothers participated in a retrospective individual interview. Findings indicate that virtual SST provided parents with greater parental knowledge and concrete collaborative problem-solving strategies that improved parent-child interactions. Further, the emotional support received at the SST reduced parents' distress while increasing hopefulness in the parenting role. In addition, parents valued the accessibility and convenience of the virtual option. 3	Moderní technologie využívané ve fyzioterapii u dětí s dětskou mozkovou obrnou / Modern technologies used in physiotherapy at children with cerebral palsy Hoskovcová, Tereza January 2021 (has links) Title: Modern technologies used in physiotherapy at children with cerebral palsy Objectives: The goal of this diploma thesis is evaluate the effect of robotic and virtual therapy on motor functions of lower limbs at children with cerebral palsy. Furthermore, the work is focused on summarizing current knowledge about cerebral palsy, robotic and virtual technologies. Methods: The diploma thesis is processed as a literature review from available literary resources. First part of thesis contains all theoretical bases and knowledge's about cerebral palsy, robotic and virtual technologies use in physiotherapy lower limbs at children with this diagnosis. Second part has a descriptive - analytical character and contains analysis of studies, which was used treatment with robotic and virtual technologies. The thesis is concluded with a discussion, which focused mainly on three basic research questions of the diploma thesis. Results: A total of 8 randomized controlled trials that met the criteria for inclusion in this thesis were described. When making recommendations for using robotics and virtual technologies, is necessary to take into account the type of cerebral palsy, the degree of disability according to GMFCS, age, motor deficit and individual abilities and goals of the therapy.
