Previous issue date: 2017-03-30 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / The study of singing, for a long time, has been compartmentalized in several areas of knowledge. Since voice is a complex phenomenon, an approach that prioritizes the phenomena complexity becomes necessary. This work, through a bibliographical review, discusses the inherent complexity of singing, from the point of view of transdisciplinarity, proposed by Barasab Nicolescu, and Edgar Morin's Theory of Complexity. The aim of this study was to study the singing voice in a complex and transdisciplinary way. Based on the methodological assumptions of transdisciplinarity - level of reality, principle of the third included term and theory of complexity - we attempted to establish correlations between transcomplex theory and its effective contribution to the pedagogical practices of singing teachers. Despite the complexity of the singing voice, it was evident that the mere awareness of singing as a complex phenomenon is not sufficient for a resignification of teaching practices. Such a resignification will only occur if the teacher proposes to adopt a new posture in his teaching practice, a position that is followed by a transdisciplinary attitude.

An Analysis of the Vocal Teaching Techniques of Allan Rogers LindquestForrest, Margaret O. (Margaret Ogburn) 08 1900 (has links)
The problem with which this research is concerned is the documentation of Allan Rogers Lindquest's vocal teaching techniques and contributions to the field of vocal pedagogy in America from 1974 to 1981. The purpose of this study is the identification and compilation of voice building techniques and vocal exercises that were formulated for vocal pedagogy by Lindquest. As a result of reviewing the literature related to vocal pedagogy, which identifies methods of voice teaching and contrasts pedagogical styles, the research questions developed for this study concern the identification and classification of Lindquest's teaching techniques in instructional areas that include breath and breath support, areas of resonance, vowels and vowel modification, vocal registers, other related areas of vocal production, and the directions for and expected results of special vocal exercises. The sources of data for this study are verbatim transcripts of fifty-six audio tapes of voice lessons conducted by Lindquest with seven students.

Singing With Closed Mouth : Bocca chiusa in Western classical art musicFrank, Simon January 2023 (has links)
Singing con bocca chiusa, with closed mouth, is a phenomenon that appears both in solo and choral literature. This thesis would like to shed more light on the phenomenon and explain its occurrence by using literature examples. In addition to its special timbre, bocca chiusa also offers numerous pedagogical advantages and can be used both in individual work with voices and in choir practise. This thesis also tries to illustrate that bocca chiusa is a multifaceted register and wants to show its different extended possibilities.

Falzet jako hlavní princip při strukturaci mužského pěveckého hlasu Sonda do literatury pěvecké pedagogiky 20. století / Falsetto As a Main Tool for Structuring Male Singing Voice An examination of singing manuals of 20. centuryFilippi, Lukáš January 2021 (has links)
This master thesis will examine the role of falsetto in structuring the male singing voice. The author will examine both Czech and international literature of the 20th century concerned with pedagogy of singing with regard to the use of head register. Works that are cited in this thesis were chosen based upon their authors' common view that it is the contribution of head voice that should play major role in structuring the singing voice. Czech authors in this thesis include Antonín Mařík, Jiří Bar, Rudolf Vašek and Přemysl Kočí. Foreign authors are represented by Anthony Frisell. This thesis strives to summarize main pedagogical concepts of the above mentioned authors. Based upon citations, it lists and explains their most common views. Apart from explaining thoughts and opinions that are shared by a majority of listed authors, this thesis also mentions views and opinions that are in some way radical or significantly different from the rest of the group. These pedagocial concepts of head voice training are later compared with the current method of chest voice training. Here, the author draws not only on the literature but also on his experience from his studies of classical singing at the Prague Conservatory. This work will also strive to summarize and compare terms such as register, head voice,...

The Girl in 14G: Analyzing Solutions for Vocal Issues Through Vocal PedagogyPires-Fernandes, Catherine 01 May 2014 (has links)
The intent of this thesis is to study a variety of vocal techniques and identify how to solve different vocal challenges in the musical theatre song, "The Girl in 14G." In order to be successful in the entertainment business, it is imperative that a singer performs healthily and in a variety of music styles. Through an exploration of Lessac Kinesensic Training, Estill Voice Training Systems and Bel Canto techniques, a singer can gain a holistic perspective about voice. I will study with three voice teachers, each of whom specializes in one of the aforementioned techniques. This thesis will reveal how each voice teacher brought her expertise to the lesson. It is a singer’s responsibility to ensure she is well rounded and knowledgeable about her voice, and the different approaches to teaching voice. Solutions that reflect different techniques will be analyzed. Observations and discoveries made in private voice lessons will also be described. Documentation of lessons with each teacher will provide insight about the distinctions and similarities in vocal techniques. This thesis is intended to serve as a starting point for students and teachers to satisfy their own vocal curiosity and exploration.
