Hur lagerhanteringssystem och artikelidentifiering kan bidra till logistisk effektivitet : En fallstudie på Nefab i Runemo

Grip, Katarina, Pålsson, Jennifer January 2009 (has links)

Warehouses are a key aspect of modern supply chains and play a vital role in the success or failure of businesses today. Figures from the USA indicate that the capital- and operating costs of warehouses represent about 22 % of a company’s logistics costs while figures from Europe indicate 25 % (Baker & Canessa, 2009). Because warehousing is such an important function within a company, the authors chose to focus on this in their thesis. The purpose of this thesis has been to examine the significance of a Warehouse Management System (WMS) and item identification with attention to logistic efficiency. With this as a starting point, the thesis also intends to examine the needs and possibilities with a WMS and some sort of item identification at a specific company and also present suggestions of how to move forward with this type of work.

Olympic Logistics Centers and their Adjustment to Specific Requirementsand Distribution Applications : Comparing the Olympic SummerGames 2000-2008

Strehlow, Anett, Rehage, Katja January 2012 (has links)
Problem: Since there is not much inside information available, the problem that will be handled by this thesis is the coordination of warehousing activities within the logistics centers put to use by the Olympic Summer Games from 2000 to 2008. A special attention is given to certain requirements such as layout, capacity management, ownership and distribution applications. Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is based on warehouse requirementsand their specific adjustment to the Olympic Summer Games, further emphasizing on distribution applications influencing the capacityand ownership. Theory: The theoretical section touches upon event logistics, the Olympic Games and more importantly, logistics centers as a generic termfor distribution facilities and warehouses. Further, types of warehouses, capacity management, ownership and distribution applications are examined in order to be able to compare the various Games. Method: The method for this research is based on a case study conducted by semi-structured interviews with several people involved in the logistics organization of the Games. All interviews are conducted over the telephone and analyzed accordingly. However, secondary data was of high importance due to the limited number of interview respondents. Conclusion: All analyzed features of a warehouse facility had to be more efficiently and effectively performed in order to serve the great approach for the Olympic Summer Games. The implementation of distribution applications was not sophisticated enough to benefit capacity savings. The leased ownership situation and outsourcing to third party logistics providers were advantageous, but did not further influence the planning and utilization phase of the Olympic Games.

Simultaneous detection of potassium, water vapor and temperature with tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy

Norén, Edvin January 2015 (has links)
Existing tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS) sensors for potassium (K) and for water vapor (H2O) and temperature were combined to enable simultaneous measurements in combustion and gasification processes. In-situ real-time detection of the above mentioned combustion parameters will improve the understanding of ash-formation during thermochemical conversion of biomass. Simultaneous measurements facilitate the experimental procedure and decrease the methodological uncertainty introduced by the heterogeneous nature of the pellets. The K sensor is based on direct absorption spectroscopy (DAS), whereas the H2O system employs wavelength modulation spectroscopy (WMS) together with two-line thermometry for temperature assessment. Two methods for combining the laser beams were evaluated, the first involving dichroic elements, the second using available fiber optic combiners. The latter method was considered advantageous. An existing LabVIEW program was modified to allow for simultaneous signal generation and data acquisition for both sensors. The sensors were then tested separately in a low pressure K cell and in ambient air. The combined sensor was applied to simultaneous measurements above various pelletized biofuels during combustion in a single pellet reactor (SPR). Significant difference in absolute concentration and time histories were observed between fuels, in particular for K and temperature. Significant K concentrations were only observed during the devolatilization phase. The combined sensor will be useful in fundamental combustion research.

Implementace ERP systému / Implementation of ERP System

Lega, Lukáš January 2016 (has links)
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) was developed from the fifties of the last century. Mainly used was for accounting. Another milestone was seventies when there was added functionality of material management. The biggest extensions came in the nineties when there was a significant increase of servers performance and ERP systems could be more complex. Suppliers began to develop new modules for Customer Relationship Management (CRM), analytics named Business Intelligence (BI), Warehouse Management System (WMS) and others. Expansion of Internet and secure connections began also cause of develop the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). ERP systems are more complex so implementation of this systems are more complex too because it extends to most processes in the company. Implementation starts by selecting an ERP system in relation to the processes maps of the company. Then it is necessary to manage whole process of the implementation and write target concepts of each parts. Equally important is the data preparation and cleaning of data base for migrate to a new ERP system. After programming, editing and parameterization of the required functions and processes following phase of testing. If all goes as expected and acceptance document is approved, ERP system is prepared to productive mode.

The Logical Memory Test Battery Wechsler Memory Scale -Revised (WMS -R), consisting of two stories that should be remembered, is a widely used test in clinical practice as a tool for assessment of verbal episodic memory. The main objective of this study was to analyze the psychometric properties of the initial six stories alternatives developed from the original stories of that battery. The importance of validation of alternative versions due to the need for test-retest reliability in patients before and after surgery. Thus, the original stories and the alternatives were applied in 655 healthy young , between 18 and 35 years of age, higher education institution. The stories were applied in classrooms, and required immediate and delayed recall of each story. We performed content analysis of memory in order to establish an appropriate table to correct the stories. In parallel, participants' performance was compared in order to examine the equivalence of alternate versions and applied the method of analysis of Item Response Theory (IRT). The results indicated that four stories proved equivalent to the original stories, if applied individually, but if applied in pairs all stories alternative form pairs equivalent to the original pair. The ITR underscored what items are more discriminating index. This study offers an alternative to the use of memory tests, because the stories may be applied repeatedly without practice effects, providing robust data both in clinical practice and for future studies on regulation. / BV UNIFESP: Teses e dissertações

The Impact of Executing a Warehouse Management System Change: A Case Study

Cross, Nicholas J 01 October 2019 (has links)
The increased demand on distribution centers to provide quicker turnarounds from receiving to shipping while maintaining precise inventory accuracies is spurring the acquisition of a warehouse management system (WMS) to improve operations and increase efficiency. With the rapid expansion of WMS technology, it seems inevitable that warehouses will outgrow inefficient operational processes and switch to a system that can accommodate rapid development. Research has explained the financial burdens and benefits of acquiring a WMS, but there’s been minimal research describing the impacts of the actual implementation. This study took place within a 600,000 sq. ft. fulfillment center and focused on the day-to-day activities of its 300+ employees. A qualitative methodology was used while observing daily processes within the inbound, inventory control, outbound, and shipping departments throughout the implementation process to determine the impacts on operational procedures and the people involved. The results describe the adaptations necessary within each department to transform the former manually based processes into automated processes that support the WMS. Also, the configurational oversights within the WMS that led to time consuming complications when performing daily operational tasks. The findings of this study explain the key factors that impact a WMS implementation and opportunities to increase the chances of a successful implementation.
