Effects of Adaptive Reflection Teaching Strategies on Learners¡¦ Reflection Levels in a Web-based Learning Environment

Liu, Chia-chi 10 July 2009 (has links)
Since personal computers and broadband Internet connections have become more and more prevalent, the application of e-Learning using the Internet is regarded as an important issue. In the literature, reflection plays an important role on improving learning performance. Hence, the issue on how to promote learners¡¦ reflection levels in a web-based learning environment becomes an essential research topic. The purposes of this research were to explore whether there are fits between reflection teaching strategies and thinking styles for better promoting learners¡¦ reflection levels. Further, learners¡¦ satisfactions on reflection learning were also discussed. A total of 223 graduate and undergraduate students, voluntarily participated to use the developed reflection learning system in this research. Twenty four learning situations are presented in the experiment according to the differences of reflection teaching strategies (constructive, guiding, and inductive) and thinking styles (legislative, executive, and judicial). And these learning situations are simplistically classified as fit or non-fit group. Learners were randomly assigned to either fit or non-fit group, and their reflection content was evaluated by two experts who have been well-trained. The results showed that there are fits between reflection teaching strategies and thinking styles for better improving learners¡¦ reflection levels. On the other hand, there is no significant difference on learners¡¦ satisfactions of reflection learning, but learners¡¦ average satisfactions on this kind of reflection learning is positive. Furthermore, this research also finds out that learners with at least one thinking style ranking on top of 25% adopting inductive reflection teaching strategy have higher satisfactions on reflection learning than learners adopting guiding reflection teaching strategy.

A Study on User Perceived Experience and Loyalty of Children's Web-based Service Quality

Yang, Mei-Leng 31 August 2009 (has links)
With the changing on network technology and Internet exchanges frequently, the Internet plays an important role in many people's lives, but also affects the learning, the change of the sale. The survey found that internet users are young than12-year-old is a rising trend. Therefore, construction of children's Web site to make children to feel about the vast Internet information in the information filtering case. Then, to provide a satisfactory experience for users of the site will affect the users of the site's views and re-visit frequently. This study aims to explore the impact on user perceived experience and loyalty of children's web-based service quality in order to understand whether website on providing service quality have different views in different a point of view, as the reference of site designer, web-site operators and follow-up study in the future. The results pointed out that in the course of children's website, the dimensions that the web-based service quality and perceived experience affect user¡¦s satisfaction and user¡¦s loyalty can be summarized as follows: (a) user¡¦s perceived experience of web site can directly impact on user¡¦s satisfaction and loyalty; (b) web-based service quality is required by the user satisfaction indirectly affects user¡¦s loyalty and demographic variables in the study of variable conditions sum up the differences. The management of meaning which are obtained by variance analysis will be able to serve as managers in improving the children's web-based service quality.

Heuristisk Utvärdering och Användartestning av ett Verktyg för Web-based Training : Korrespondensen mellan Predicerade och Observerade Användbarhetsproblem

Varpstuen, Johan January 2000 (has links)

Creation and evaluation of a web-based learning and discussion tool for elementary school teachers of students with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder in Nova Scotia

Barnett, Brittany 29 July 2010 (has links)
ADHD is one of the most common childhood psychiatric disorders, with symptoms that are frequently displayed in the school environment. Past studies have measured teachers’ knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours towards ADHD, but very few studies have aimed to change teachers’ knowledge, attitudes and behaviour through the implementation of an intervention. The goal of the present study was to determine if a web-based medium is an effective tool for supporting knowledge, attitude, and behaviour change in teachers of elementary school children with ADHD. Teachers (n = 20) from Nova Scotia were recruited through word of mouth. Of these participants, 19 completed a 7-week intervention that consisted of presentations, web-links and discussion board activities related to different aspects of ADHD. Knowledge, attitudes, and behaviour were measured pre- and post-intervention. Teachers’ knowledge improved from pre- to post-intervention (p = 0.03). In terms of attitudes, although there was no change on the overall measure of attitude, there was a significant change on the Lack of Control (p = 0.001) and Perceived Competence (p = 0.000) subscales. A measure of teacher behaviour toward ADHD did not significantly change. Participants agreed that the content was presented in a way that was usable and easy to understand, the links and discussion board functions were useful, and they learned something new from each of the sessions. The study demonstrated that a web-based medium is a useful tool for knowledge creation and translation and has potential as a means of providing professional development to teachers about ADHD.
