Technological advancements and digitalization opens up a whole new set of opportunities for manufacturing industries to improve and enhance their effectiveness. As the importance of IT grows in the industry so does the complexity of the systems they use. This requires a countermeasure. IT systems need to be managed and monitored and thus rises the need for tools to perform this task in a swift and effective manner. Because when a plant stands still, time is money.This thesis describes the development of an extension to System Monitor which is used by the company ÅF. System Monitor is a system and troubleshooting tool to monitor the manufacturing execution system PaperLine.System Monitor consists of a service that collects data from PaperLine and its servers, a database for storing the collected data and a web client for presenting the data to the user. The result of the project is an improved version of System Monitor with means to collect and display performance data from servers running on the windows server operating system. In addition general improvements have been made and bugs have been dealt with. The project has been a success for both the author and ÅF.

This master’s thesis deals with design and creation of ULP program for export of vector images in EMF (Enhanced Windows Metafile) format. The main aim of this thesis is to add support of all features of Autodesk Eagle version 9. Thesis is important due to bugs and imperfections of other ULP programs for exporting of vector images to other formats also because of they aim for older versions of Autodesk Eagle. With regard to small quantity of EMF literature, thesis is beneficial as it describes behaviour of base structures and describes creation of EMF metafile. It also provides example of iteration over individual parts of schemes and printed circuit boards. Main goal of this thesis was completed. User is allowed to export currently visible layers, set order of their printing, with remain of true colors and orientation. Program was tested in Autodesk Eagle systems version 9.1.3 and 9.3.2.

The Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Buildings promote repair rather than replacement of deteriorated features when possible. Though replacement and retrofitted elements may provide improved energy efficiency with a minor impact on appearance, there is currently no guide for objectively considering the potential benefits of such treatments for historic buildings. In an effort to provide decision-making tools to those seeking to balance both preservation and economic/ sustainability concerns, this thesis will present an approach to weighing treatment options specifically for windows, including modifications for energy efficiency that are not specifically endorsed by the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards. This thesis explores the critical decision processes involved in selecting to repair or replace deteriorated historic windows, and examines those of the Main Building Tower of the University of Texas as a case study. The steel windows of the Tower, which was completed in 1937, suffer from corrosion and are not performing optimally in terms of energy efficiency. An understanding of the history and significance of the building, the current condition and performance of the windows, balanced against project-specific goals and an evaluation of current treatment options for historic windows helped narrow the potential options for the Tower. Including a “decision tree” that assists users in selecting an appropriate treatment, this thesis maps the considerations necessary to arrive at an informed solution, which may be applied to other projects with varying existing conditions and project objectives. / text

This work aims on missing handwritten signature authentication in Windows. Result of this work is standalone software that allow users to log into Windows by writing signature. We focus on security of signature authentification and best overall user experience. We implemented signature authentification service that accept signature and return user access token if signature is genuine. Signature authentification is done by comparing given signature to signature patterns by their similarity. Signatures similarity is calculated by dynamic time warp on dynamic signature features such as speed, acceleration and pressure. User access token is used by our Windows login plugin called signature credential provider to decrypt user credentials and perform log in. Result of this work is solution that allow user log to windows by handwritten signatures, with equal error rate of 4.17\%.

ZlomekFS is a distributed file system created for transparent sharing of directory trees designed for the Linux operating system. This work deals with the possibility of zlomekFS portability to another operating system especially the Microsoft Windows. It also explores the possibility of porting zlomkeFS to the Android operating system.

In many applications, e.g. urban traffic monitoring, stock trading, and industrial sensor data monitoring, clustering algorithms are applied on data streams in real-time to find current patterns. Here, sliding windows are commonly used as they capture concept drift. Real-time clustering over sliding windows is early detection of continuously evolving clusters as soon as they occur in the stream, which requires efficient maintenance of cluster memberships that change as windows slide. Data stream management systems (DSMSs) provide high-level query languages for searching and analyzing streaming data. In this thesis we extend a DSMS with a real-time data stream clustering framework called Generic 2-phase Continuous Summarization framework (G2CS).  G2CS modularizes data stream clustering by taking as input clustering algorithms which are expressed in terms of a number of functions and indexing structures. G2CS supports real-time clustering by efficient window sliding mechanism and algorithm transparent indexing. A particular challenge for real-time detection of a high number of rapidly evolving clusters is efficiency of window slides for clustering algorithms where deletion of expired data is not supported, e.g. BIRCH. To that end, G2CS includes a novel window maintenance mechanism called Sliding Binary Merge (SBM). To further improve real-time sliding performance, G2CS uses generation-based multi-dimensional indexing where indexing structures suitable for the clustering algorithms can be plugged-in.

ZlomekFS is a distributed file system designed for transparent sharing of directory trees. This work deals with the possibility of portability zlomekFS to another operating system. The first section describes the problems that must be solved in order to achieve portability of the program. Subsequently, this work examines the possibility of deploying this file system on the Android operating system. Furthermore, this work deals with porting zlomekFS to the Windows operating system. The last section defines general guidelines for the file system code portability.

Rapporten avser att undersöka vilka olika lösningar det finns att tillgå då Windows Vista skall rullas ut till ett antal klientdatorer. Information om de olika produkterna presenteras samt praktiska laborationer med resultat. Slutligen görs en bedömning av vilken produkt eller lösning som lämpar sig bäst för ett litet företag med få klienter respektive ett stort företag med många klienter. Slutsatsen innehåller våra rekommendationer för hur utrullningen bör ske. Arbetet resulterade i att vi kunde utefter våra laborationer fatta beslutet att Ghost Solution Suite passar bäst för ett mindre företag medan Microsofts lösningar lämpar sig mer när företagen kommer upp i många klienter. Detta grundas främst på priset för produkterna samt hur svåra de är att använda men även hur mycket tid som sparas per installation.
