Prestandaövervakning av Windows server med WMI : En vidareutveckling av System Monitor / Windows server performance monitoring with WMI : An extension to System MonitorJohansson, Björn January 2016 (has links)
Technological advancements and digitalization opens up a whole new set of opportunities for manufacturing industries to improve and enhance their effectiveness. As the importance of IT grows in the industry so does the complexity of the systems they use. This requires a countermeasure. IT systems need to be managed and monitored and thus rises the need for tools to perform this task in a swift and effective manner. Because when a plant stands still, time is money. This thesis describes the development of an extension to System Monitor which is used by the company ÅF. System Monitor is a system and troubleshooting tool to monitor the manufacturing execution system PaperLine.System Monitor consists of a service that collects data from PaperLine and its servers, a database for storing the collected data and a web client for presenting the data to the user. The result of the project is an improved version of System Monitor with means to collect and display performance data from servers running on the windows server operating system. In addition general improvements have been made and bugs have been dealt with. The project has been a success for both the author and ÅF.

Design och implementation av övervakningssystem med Nagios / Design and implementation of monitoring systems with NagiosLundqvist, Måns January 2017 (has links)
Sherpas needed a new platform to monitor machines on their network. The platform they wanted to use was Nagios Core to monitor resources like CPU, disk, memory, bandwidth, webservers and SQL servers. The monitor solution also needed a simple way to add new hosts. Addons for a dashboard and graphs was also needed for a better overview. The monitor platform was installed on a test environment with a stationary computer, laptop with 3 virtual machines and a switch. Nagios Core was installed on the stationary computer. NRPE was used as the agent and was installed on all Linux servers. Nagios plugins was also installed to be able to monitor the required resources. Monitoring of Windows machines was done with WMI. To monitor switches and routers a plugin was created with Bash. To simplify configuration for new hosts, host groups were used. All host groups are linked to a service and when new hosts are created the required services are monitored by selecting all the host groups which the services are linked to. This decreased the time required for configuring new hosts. The solution was only done with a very small environment and the plugin that was created could contain a few bugs that can be detected in the future. The program also used a programming language not suited for the situation and should be changed in the future. No focus on security was done and is something that should be implemented in the future.

Detekce útoku pomocí analýzy systémových logů / Attack Detection by Analysis of the System's LogsHolub, Ondřej Unknown Date (has links)
The thesis deals with the attack detection possibilities and the nonstandard behaviour. It focuses on problems with the IDS detection systems, the subsequent classification and methods which are being used for the attack detection. One part of the thesis presents the existing IDS systems and their properties which are necessary for the successful attack detection. Other parts describe methods to obtain information from the operating systems Microsoft Windows and it also analyses the theoretical methods of data abnormalities. The practical part focuses on the design and implementation of the HIDS application. The final application and its detection abilities are tested at the end of the practical part with the help of some model situations. In the conclusion, the thesis sums up the gained information and shows a possible way of the future development.

Lagringsmätning för AD-information / Measurement Storage for AD-informationIshak, Michel January 2012 (has links)
Metoderna beskrivs i rapporten. / The goal of this project was that the IT-Mästaren wanted to be able to bill their customers in a more comfortable way. Their solution of the customer’s server usage of that time was time consuming and inefficient, therefore they wanted to automate the system. The new system should manage their customer’s servers by using a graphical interface and then contact them to get different values for each customer to be presented at the IT-Mästaren's website. In this way they could bill their customers more efficiently and get a better understanding of their customers’ use. With the development of this system I immersed in my own known areas and I also learned new knowledge. It was not only about technical development but also investigationamong other thingslike retrieval of all the data that should be collected. I used selected methods in order to perform this project in a smooth and effective manner. The methods are described in the report.

“Accumulation by Dispossession” by the Global Extractive Industry: The Case of CanadaKinuthia, Wanyee 13 November 2013 (has links)
This thesis draws on David Harvey’s concept of “accumulation by dispossession” and an international political economy (IPE) approach centred on the institutional arrangements and power structures that privilege certain actors and values, in order to critique current capitalist practices of primitive accumulation by the global corporate extractive industry. The thesis examines how accumulation by dispossession by the global extractive industry is facilitated by the “free entry” or “free mining” principle. It does so by focusing on Canada as a leader in the global extractive industry and the spread of this country’s mining laws to other countries – in other words, the transnationalisation of norms in the global extractive industry – so as to maintain a consistent and familiar operating environment for Canadian extractive companies. The transnationalisation of norms is further promoted by key international institutions such as the World Bank, which is also the world’s largest development lender and also plays a key role in shaping the regulations that govern natural resource extraction. The thesis briefly investigates some Canadian examples of resource extraction projects, in order to demonstrate the weaknesses of Canadian mining laws, particularly the lack of protection of landowners’ rights under the free entry system and the subsequent need for “free, prior and informed consent” (FPIC). The thesis also considers some of the challenges to the adoption and implementation of the right to FPIC. These challenges include embedded institutional structures like the free entry mining system, international political economy (IPE) as shaped by international institutions and powerful corporations, as well as concerns regarding ‘local’ power structures or the legitimacy of representatives of communities affected by extractive projects. The thesis concludes that in order for Canada to be truly recognized as a leader in the global extractive industry, it must establish legal norms domestically to ensure that Canadian mining companies and residents can be held accountable when there is evidence of environmental and/or human rights violations associated with the activities of Canadian mining companies abroad. The thesis also concludes that Canada needs to address underlying structural issues such as the free entry mining system and implement FPIC, in order to curb “accumulation by dispossession” by the extractive industry, both domestically and abroad.
