Representações femininas em A mulher que venceu o Don Juan /Camilo, Ana Carolina Mendes. January 2019 (has links)
This research has as objective the study of The woman who won the Don Juan (2013), Portuguese writer Teresa Martins Marques, focusing on female characters. In this novel, there's a gallery of male and female characters who come together around a common goal, namely, to win themselves, their fears, traumas and obsessions. The obstacles are external reasons that lead these characters to win the internal impediments, especially women, in a society where patriarchy let your wounds exposed. The work gives prominence to a kind of Don Juan psychopath, both in male version as in feminine, deconstructing stereotypes that tend just to victimise the woman. Many are driven both social and cultural components as psychics, to problematize the gender relations in postmodern societies. The title of the work, even if refer a possible heroin, hides a collective, a network of people mobilized to the confrontation of dangerous and abusive relationships, debunking a sick society, manipulative, prejudiced and lacking in public policies facing a liberating education, where men and women can be equal in rights and duties. Not back, just to the issue of gender relations, but also to conflicts between parents and children, questioning consumerist values that permeate these relationships. As the basic theoretical background to the construction of a new pathological type of modern Don Juan, the author has as main reference the work of Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard. It was used in this analysis of the women's gallery eclectic approach, bringing together works from psychology, literature, cultural history, feminist criticism and philosophy / Mestre

January 2017 (has links)
This research intention specifically examines the voice of the character Manuela Paula Ferreira in The House of the Seven Women (2002), a contemporary historical novel creation by the brazilian Leticia Wierzchowski (1972). This analysis in the related novel is a way to meditate the transgressor's position of the focus character, who in the context presents a muted and dissonante voice, that could mean the patriarcal system resistance in the XIX TH Century. Bakhtin's (1988) discursive studies is the generic basis of this research, so essential theory for the survey to reveal Manoela's state of prison feelings also in her perspectives from the social reflections, the rules, the politics until in the War and her thematic objective reminiscences in love with Giuseppe Garibaldi character. So the research seeks to carry out a detailed study toward the inward and critical diary in which the character Manoela wrote her confidences in order to understand herself own voice and her social behavior. For the analysis of this diary, this search also supports in the concepts of narration (GENETTE, 1979) and the memory (SPERBER, 2009), which allow to cover all the transgressive matter implied in it; in terms of civility, of the exclusion and social possible identities emphasizes (DELEUZE, 1995) like an answer of the authoritarian discourses. Finally, this cooperation intends to discuss the popular tradition "Bride of Garibaldi", which took shape after Giusepe Garibaldi dedicated to Manuela some lines of his memories. Then this research expectancy is also to contribute with the understanding of this historical figure and her role in the War of the Clutches/ Guerra dos Farrapos / Mestre

The representation of women in four of Naguib Mahfouz's realist novels: Palace walk, Palace of desire, Sugar street and Midaq alleyOersen, Sheridene Barbara January 2005 (has links)
Magister Artium - MA / This thesis involved the various discourses around Egyptian novelist Naguib Mahfouz's representation of women in four of his most well-known novels, which were originally written in Arabic. At the one extreme, he is described as a feminist writer who takes up an aggressive anti-patriarchal stance, delivering a multi-faceted critique on Egyptian society. Mahfouz's personal milieu, as well as the broader social context in which he finds himself, was given careful consideration. It was also considered whether the genre in which the four novels have been written has a significant influence on the manner in which Mahfouz has represented his female characters. / South Africa
