This master's thesis is entitled "Nietzsches Philosophie der Dekadenz in Thomas Mains Roman Der Zauberberg. Zu Rationalitat, Metaphysik and Erziehung." It focuses on Mann's treatment of Nietzsche's critiques of rationality, metaphysics and education. It is argued that the characters Settembrini and Naphta, who attempt to educate the main character, Castorp, personify Nietzsche's critiques of rationality and metaphysics, and their interweavement, as both rely on a common feature: belief. As a reaction to this confusion, the relativistic approach of Castorp increases and leads him to passivity and indifference. The failure of his education evokes Nietzsche's critique of an education which does not teach one to define one's own values and set oneself a goal. The fact that Castorp's fate evokes Nietzsche's in the novel is interpreted as Mann's critique of Nietzsche's philosophy, especially of his perspectivism.

Essay über Thomas Mann, sein Verhältnis zur Romantik und die romantischen Elemente in seinem Werk. Die Gliederung des Textes folgt mit sieben Abschnitten dem Vorbild des "Zauberberg" (1924), der eine wichtige Rolle in Peters' Ausführungen spielt. Kommentare zu Thomas Manns Bildungsroman sind eingebettet in Betrachtungen zu der Polarität von Klassik und Romantik oder zu Künstlertum und Bürgertum. Der 4. Abschnitt des Essays befasst sich mit den "himmelblauen" Vorurteilen zur Romantik und hebt die ganzheitliche Weltkonzeption der Romantiker hervor sowie deren humanistisch geprägtes, am Universalmenschen der Renaissance orientiertes Bildungsideal. Das Manuskript von "Thomas Mann und die Romantik" befindet sich im zweiten Heft des Manuskriptes von "Heine Steenhagen wöll ju dat wiesen!" und steht in einem metadiskursiven Verhältnis zu Peters' parodistischem Bildungsroman: im 7. und letzten Kapitel seines Essays befasst sich Peters mit Romantheorie auf der Grundlage von Zitaten aus Novalis und Thomas Mann ("Versuch über das Theater"). Er unterstreicht hier zentrale Merkmale des Bildungsromans und entwickelt so die Poetik zu "Heine Steenhagen".

En esta investigación, la reconstrucción de la crisis de la República de Weimar será realizada a través de bibliografía seleccionada sobre el tema y complementada con el análisis de un ejemplo de producción cultural como es la novela alemana de la época. Si nos planteamos el problema de la confiabilidad de la novela como fuente histórica, deberíamos señalar que en el momento en que fue escrita, la obra no tenía por finalidad reconstruir el pasado sino más bien presentar al lector una situación social amplia, con realidades y personajes propios de esa sociedad pero en un marco y situación ficticia.

The subject of this diploma thesis is the novel Der Zauberberg by the German writer Thomas Mann and its existing Czech translations and reeditions of translations from 1930, 1935/1936, 1958, 1975 and 2016. The work is based on the following translatological bases: contemporary norms and conventions, paratexes and metatexts, and translation of the title of the work. The following part is devoted to the personality of the author and his work, the novel Der Zauberberg presents itself in the cultural and historical context of the time of creation and does not neglect the reception in the German environment. The benefit of this diploma thesis is to describe the reception of this novel in the Czech environment, where we will focus on the macrotexual (paratexty) and microtextual analysis of selected parts of the original and all Czech translations. The main methodological tool for microtextual analysis of selected passages of Mann's novel represents the typology of expression changes and shifts in the translation of Anton Popovič (1975, 1983).

Esta dissertação tem como objetivo investigar o tratamento do tempo como temática central no romance Der Zauberberg (A montanha mágica) de Thomas Mann, em que a experiência temporal do herói é transformada em experiência estética para o leitor mediante a própria estrutura narrativa da obra. Para isso, e depois de um estudo da gênese dos conceitos de temporalidade presentes no romance com base sobretudo nos diários do autor, realiza-se uma análise de subcapítulos selecionados, em que o tempo não é apenas tematizado, seja por intrusões digressivas do narrador, seja por reproduções de diálogos ou pensamentos do protagonista, mas também onde sua percepção é por vezes representada narrativamente na construção dos parágrafos desses subcapítulos. Como uma das estratégias narrativas fundamentais aplicadas pelo romancista a fim de representar sua almejada suspensão do tempo mensurável na consciência do herói e transmitir essa mesma vivência ao leitor figura a relação marcadamente desigual no livro entre os dois planos temporais: o tempo narrado (erzählte Zeit) e o tempo do narrar (Erzählzeit), assim como teorizados originalmente por Günther Müller e retomados por Paul Ricoeur em seu Tempo e Narrativa. A análise que ainda se realiza nesta monografia da problemática imbricação entre o tempo psicológico (subjetivo/qualitativo) e o tempo cronológico (objetivo/quantitativo) no universo da montanha é complementada por um comentário dos contornos míticos atribuídos ao tempo no romance. / Gegenstand der Arbeit ist die Behandlung der Zeit als der zentralen Thematik im Roman Der Zauberberg von Thomas Mann, wo durch die Erzählstruktur des Werkes selbst die Zeiterfahrung des Helden in eine ästhetische Erfahrung für den Leser umgesetzt wird. Die Untersuchung beginnt bei der Genese der in dem Roman präsenten Zeitbegriffe vor allem unter Bezug auf die Tagebücher des Autors , um daran anschließend die Analyse einiger ausgewählter Unterkapitel vorzunehmen, in denen die Zeit nicht nur thematisiert wird sei es durch digressive Einschübe des Erzählers, sei es durch Wiedergabe von Dialogen oder Gedanken der Hauptfigur , sondern wo ihre Wahrnehmung zuweilen in der erzählerischen Gestaltung der Abschnitte dieser Unterkapitel zur Darstellung kommt. Als eine der grundlegenden Erzählstrategien des Romanautors zu der von ihm beabsichtigten Aufhebung der messbaren Zeit im Bewusstsein des Helden und der Übertragung dieser Erfahrung auf den Leser fungiert das in dem Buch betont ungleiche Verhältnis zwischen den beiden Zeitebenen der erzählten Zeit und der Erzählzeit, wie sie ursprünglich von Günther Müller theoretisch gefasst und von Paul Ricoeur in Zeit und Erzählung erneut behandelt wurden. Die zudem in dieser Abhandlung vorgenommene Analyse der problematischen Verschränkung von psychologischer (subjektiver/qualitativer) und chronologischer (objektiver/quantitativer) Zeit in der Welt des Berges wird ergänzt durch einen Kommentar zu den mythischen Konturen, die der Zeit in diesem Roman zukommen.
