Immigranters upplevelser av förändring av aktiviteter innan och efter uppehållstillståndet : En kvalitativ studie / Immigrants experiences of change of activities before and after the residence permit : A qualitative study

Isik, Serwin, Bäcklin, Lina January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this study was to describe immigrants experiences of change of activities before and after the residence permit. To examine this, nine participants were interviewed. They have had received residence permit for at least ten years, and could speak the Swedish language god enough to be able to have a conversation. There were five men and four women who participated in the ages between 25-50. The participants originally came from Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran. Data was analyzed with content analysis and analyzes showed three categories:i) The experience that a residence permit gives the right to work and education that describes the participants experience of their schooling, education and work before and after the residence permit. ii) Possibility to participate in activities in society that describes experience of possibilities, rights and participation in society before and after residence permit. iii) Experiences of leisure activities and everyday life describes experience of lack of daily activities and meaningful activities to perform before and after residence permit. The result of this study showed that the majority of the participants experienced difficulties and limitations to get to perform activities before getting residence permit and had more opportunities for activities after the residence permit. The conclusion of this study describes that there is a need to understand immigrants experiences of their situation. It also appears that this may be useful for occupational therapists and other professions to have an understanding and gaining insight into their lives and pay attention to possible further difficulties in activity and participation.

Příprava purinových a pyrimidinových derivátů s potenciální biologickou aktivitou. / Synthesis of purine and pyrimidine derivatives with potential biological activities.

Jansa, Petr January 2011 (has links)
An extensive overview of the current state of the research in the field of the development of acyclic nucleoside phosphonates (ANPs) was elaborated, which quotes from 196 publications in abstracted journals. A new microwave-assisted methodology for the preparation of dialkyl haloalkylphosphonates was developed. Through strict control of the reaction temperatures in microwave reactor, it was possible to lower the amount of the reactants all the way to the ideal ratio of 1:1. With the use of a continuous-flow microwave reactor, it was possible to prepare the key building blocks for the subsequent syntheses of ANPs in large quantities (100 g), which significantly accelerates research in this area. The new method was patented and published. While studying various ANP prodrugs, a new highly effective methodology for the preparation of the diamides of ANPs was developed. The method starts directly from ANP diesters, which react with trimethylsilylbromide to form the corresponding bis(trimethylsilyl)esters of ANPs, which are well soluble in organic solvents and react smoothly during the subsequent introduction of aminoacid esters. Moreover, the reaction with trimethylsilylbromide protects the reactive groups present in the rest of the molecule and thus prevents undesired side reactions. Furthermore, using...

Parental guidance in occupational therapy: Promoting the participation of children with autism spectrum disorder in everyday life activities - a scoping review

Enroth, Petra January 2021 (has links)
Abstract   Aim This study aimed to determine what is known from the existing literature about parental guidance during occupational therapy to promote the participation of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in everyday activities. Method  The scoping review methodology was used to gather existing information on the topic. The following databases were used for searches: The Allied and Complementary Medicine Database (AMED), Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), and MEDLINE.  Results Ten studies were included in this study, as they met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results of the selected studies were thematically organised. Three key elements emerged from the results that promoted the participation of children with ASD in everyday life activities: increased knowledge and awareness of parents; new practices and changes in everyday life; supporting and strengthening parenting.  Conclusion  The findings of this study suggest that parents have a central role to play in promoting child participation. Parental guidance is an ideal way to promote the participation of ASD children in everyday activities, as parents are involved in children’s daily lives and influence children’s natural environments. The results of this study can be utilized in occupational therapy practice for the implementation of interventions. Keywords: ASD, children with ASD, daily activities, involvement, occupational therapy, parental guidance

The Outcome of Design Innovation and the Antecedents of Design Activities: Insights from Canadian Manufacturing Industries

Wang, Shu January 2023 (has links)
The importance of product design has been getting attention in the past decade from scholars and practitioners. Design plays a critical role in firms’ product development and business strategies. In recent years, scholars began to see design innovation as another vital innovation element of a new product. A new product should encompass at least two innovation elements: technology innovation and design innovation. While technology points to the function of a product, design points to the form of a product. Despite the advocacy of scholarly examination of design innovation, there are few studies of design innovation. In this dissertation, two empirical studies have been conducted to examine the outcome of design innovation and the antecedents of design activities, respectively. Study 1 examines the effect of design innovation (as well as technology and service innovation) on new product performance. Additionally, the study examines the roles of marketing innovation and process innovation in mediating the relationships between these innovation activities and new product performance. Study 2 examines how firms’ absorptive capacity, competitive responsiveness, and product development resources drive design and R&D activities. Design and R&D activities typically lead to the introduction of design and technology innovation. Regarding the findings from this dissertation, the first study shows that design, technology, and service innovation (which, argued by this study, are the three main innovation elements of a new product) all contribute to new product performance. Additionally, marketing innovation and process innovation are found to mediate the relationship between these innovation elements and performance. The second study shows that a firm’s competitor responsiveness, absorptive capacity (captured by “institutional sources” and “market sources of information”), and product development resources (captured by “cross-functional design team”, “design or information control technologies”, and “concurrent engineering”) are positively related to firms’ design and R&D activities. / Thesis / Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) / Design plays a critical role in firms’ product development and business strategies. Traditionally, technology innovation has been the focus of new product development. In recent years, scholars have begun to see design innovation as another vital innovation element of a new product. In this dissertation, two empirical studies have been conducted to examine the outcome of design innovation and the antecedents of design activities, respectively. There are two key goals of this dissertation. The first goal is to understand the outcome of design innovation and what other factors jointly contribute to the outcome. The second goal is to understand what strategies that firms adopt lead to design activities. Answers to the first question show the performance implication of design innovation and the factors that drive the performance. Meanwhile, answers to the second question shed light on the firm strategies that drive design activities, which may lead to the introduction of design innovation. Empirical studies that tackle these questions are sparse.

An Evaluation of Communicative Activities in First-Year High School Spanish Textbooks

Martinez, Marcella C. 04 October 2010 (has links) (PDF)
The study analyzed activities of Spanish Level 1 textbooks used in high school to determine the extent to which they incorporate some of the most respected theories of communicative language learning, in particular the theories of Krashen, Swain, Long and Nunan. Five well known Spanish books were chosen: Realidades, Exprésate, Así se dice, Avancemos, and Aventura. For each book, Chapter 2 and Chapter 5 were chosen to be evaluated by two raters. The activities in these chapters were analyzed according to four criteria derived from the abovementioned theories. Results suggest that textbooks may not be in alignment with major theories of how language is acquired. The majority of the activities may fall under the category of meaningless drills, which it is claimed do not contribute to acquisition of a second language.
