Cheng, Feng-yao 12 August 2009 (has links)
Since Taiwan joined the WTO in 2002, the market has been gradually deregulated because of the impact of globalization. Take the airfreights forwarding industry as an example, due to the low entry threshold in Taiwan, the foreign investors has been adjusting their business operating strategy by taking Taiwan as a pre-enter step before investing China¡¦s market. The foreign investors are capturing the Asia Pacific Region¡¦s market distinctly with their strong funds and globalized information platform, which severely threatens the local enterprise. Therefore, to adjust operating strategy, to position the market and to promote competitive ability become the crucial tasks for local airfrights forwarding industry. The key element for obtaining customer¡¦s satisfaction and loyalty is to improve our service quality. This research takes airfreight forwarding industry as an object to explore how service quality influences customer satisfaction and enhances customer loyalty, which will further make business more profitable and even more valuable. Collecting and analyzing the related documents construct the primary structure of this research. The hypotheses and questionnaires are analyzed through SPSS statistical methods- reliability analysis, canonical correlation analysis and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The research has demonstrated: 1.The service quality has positive influence on the customer satisfaction 2.The customer satisfaction has positive influence on the customer loyalty 3.The service quality has positive influence on the customer loyalty

Chaîne d'approvisionnement du frêt aérien : essai d'identification, d'évaluation et de contrôle des risques / Comments on air cargi supply chain : essay of identification, assessment and control of risk

Song, Jun 15 October 2013 (has links)
Generally this research consists of four parts, research background, risk identification, risk assessment and risk control suggestions. Research background consists of research introduction, author background and literature reviews on key concepts and theories, and risk formulation mechanisms. Risk identification is the first and important step of enterprise risk management. In this research, brainstorm, expert interview, RBS and literature review methods will be used together to identify the risk in Chinese air cargo industry. From theory perspective, it will explain why it chooses these methods and implements the methods comparison. Through the interview, survey with experts, two layers of risk factors have been founded. For the risk assessment methods, there are mainly about 14 independent risk assessment methods are discussed, as strategic scanning, worst-case analysis and so on. For the risk assessment of Chinese air cargo industry, ANP is a scientific, reasonable and practical method. Experts’ judgment and suggestion are indispensable and complementary in risk assessment, including ANP method. Because of the practice of risk identification, the author has a close relationship with most of the experts within Chinese air cargo industry. 20 experts were chosen as the interviewees. Based on the 17 valid questionnaires and Superdecision software, risk assessment process produced all priorities for all the risk factors. According the result, 19 risks are classified into three categories, red, yellow and white risks. For each kind of risks, all the participants can make risk counter decisions according to the assessment result. Risk assessment is not the end for risk management for Chinese air cargo industry, the purpose of the risk assessment is to support the decision making and bring inferences. In China, the Ecargo is one practice of ACSCEP which is proposed by China government. In all, ACSCEP can solve many Chinese air cargo risks. As an expert and member of Ecargo platform, I proposed that Ecargo is a good risk counter measures.

The impact of the application of international air cargo security regulations in South Africa

Nevo, Eitan Manuel Damian January 2015 (has links)
Text in English / This research project, within the context of security risk management in general and aviation security in particular, aimed to explore the impact of the application of international and local air cargo security regulations on South Africa, with specific reference to the regulations of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), as well as the European Union (EU) and the United States of America (USA). In South Africa, since the early 2000s, the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) has been the lead agency for dealing with and managing the needs for air cargo security. This oversight by SACAA culminated in 2009 with the promulgation of the SACAA Regulation commonly known as Part 108. Accordingly the primary research focus was on the impact Part 108 has had on the air cargo industry in South Africa. In addition, it compared the South African regulations with those of the USA and EU regulations; explored the compliance of the various roleplayers; sought to understand the enforcement of the regulations; and examined the effectiveness of the available security and screening methods. Furthermore, the research attempted to determine whether these regulations had any effect on preventing or deterring crime in the air cargo sector. / Criminology and Security Science / M. Tech. Essays in Empirical Operations Management: Bayesian Learning of Service Quality and Structural Estimation of Complementary Product Pricing and Inventory Management

Shang, Yan January 2016 (has links)

This dissertation contributes to the rapidly growing empirical research area in the field of operations management. It contains two essays, tackling two different sets of operations management questions which are motivated by and built on field data sets from two very different industries --- air cargo logistics and retailing.

The first essay, based on the data set obtained from a world leading third-party logistics company, develops a novel and general Bayesian hierarchical learning framework for estimating customers' spillover learning, that is, customers' learning about the quality of a service (or product) from their previous experiences with similar yet not identical services. We then apply our model to the data set to study how customers' experiences from shipping on a particular route affect their future decisions about shipping not only on that route, but also on other routes serviced by the same logistics company. We find that customers indeed borrow experiences from similar but different services to update their quality beliefs that determine future purchase decisions. Also, service quality beliefs have a significant impact on their future purchasing decisions. Moreover, customers are risk averse; they are averse to not only experience variability but also belief uncertainty (i.e., customer's uncertainty about their beliefs). Finally, belief uncertainty affects customers' utilities more compared to experience variability.

The second essay is based on a data set obtained from a large Chinese supermarket chain, which contains sales as well as both wholesale and retail prices of un-packaged perishable vegetables. Recognizing the special characteristics of this particularly product category, we develop a structural estimation model in a discrete-continuous choice model framework. Building on this framework, we then study an optimization model for joint pricing and inventory management strategies of multiple products, which aims at improving the company's profit from direct sales and at the same time reducing food waste and thus improving social welfare.

Collectively, the studies in this dissertation provide useful modeling ideas, decision tools, insights, and guidance for firms to utilize vast sales and operations data to devise more effective business strategies.
/ Dissertation

Percepción de los operadores sobre la eficiencia en los servicios ofrecidos por Talma y Shohin en la logística aérea / Operator’s perception about the efficiency in the services offered by Talma and Shohin in air logistics

Aguirre Vargas, Erika Rocio, Alvarado Lucano, Luisa Ivett 13 July 2019 (has links)
There are different types of international cargo transportation in international commerce. One of them is air transportation, which is highly preferred by exporters who want their cargo to arrive in a short time to the chosen destination. Within the variety of products that are mainly exported through this modality are: perishable products, high value products and low volume products. In order to develop effectively the shipment of these kind of goods that are exported by air, it is necessary to fulfill those processes that cover the supply chain management of these products before proceeding with the export. One of them is the air logistics developed inside the existing storage terminals. Talma and Shohin currently operate in Peru as the only air cargo warehouses. Each of them works with a certain number of airlines; Talma is the one that has the highest volume of customers. These air terminals, have different procedures and ways to manage their operations that generates a great variety of perceptions that come from foreign trade operators about the efficiency of the services offered by these air warehouses in terms of logistics costs, infrastructure and use of technology. These factors are decisive in the perceptions of foreign trade operators about the services offered by Talma and Shohin. / Tesis

The Air Cargo Scheduling Problem With Heterogenous Fleet

Durdak, Yavuz 01 January 2013 (has links) (PDF)
In this study, we consider the Air Cargo Scheduling Problem based on a real life application. The aim is to move cargo and passengers that have different priorities and delivery time window, from a number of origin airports to destination airports by means of a transportation system. The system has predefined carrier routes and a heterogeneous fleet of aircraft. The problem is formulated as a heterogeneous vehicle, multi commodity, pick-up, and delivery network flow problem with a large set of system specific constraints. The proposed model determines set of movement requirements assigned on each route leg and number and type of aircraft assigned for each route in a reasonable amount of time. The model is tested with the real and generated data and the results are compared with the current methodology under different scenarios. The model produced better results in a short amount of time compared to the current methodology.

A Study on Foreign Direct Investment of Air Cargo Industry in China

Chuang, Wei-tsung 02 August 2010 (has links)
After joining WTO (World Trade Organization) in 2001, the China government started to adjust its laws, regulations and the limitation of foreign direct invest. As the result, it helps the economic to grow and the foreign direct invest ratio to increase, and finally derive the demand of air cargo delivery. This research focuses on the foreign direct invest on air cargo in China, such as investigate the development of air cargo industry after the globalization in China, discuss the development of transnational air cargo industry in China, and find out how did the foreign air cargo companies enter China and figure out how did they invest. According to the research result, the international trade industry is liberlization than before, especially the distribution service industry, after China joined WTO. In addition, when the foreign direct invest is increasing, the demand of air cargo delivery is also increasing. However, the local air cargo companies could not meet the demand; therefore, the transnational air cargo companies invest the air cargo industry in China. In fact, the transnational air cargo companies and local industry had cooperated with each other by joint venture and win the market share. On the other hand, in order to meet the globalization, the local air cargo companies should cooperate with foreign companies in some ways, such as joint venture or strategic alliance, and than create mutual benefit.
