ANTI-JAM PERFORMANCE OF SEVERAL DIVERSITY COMBINERSEng, Thomas 10 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 27-30, 1997 / Riviera Hotel and Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada / The relative anti-jam (AJ) performance of several diversity combiners are investigated. The modulation is 8-ary frequency-shift-keying (FSK), the demodulation process consists of energy detection of the eight frequency bins at each hop and the subsequent combining of detector outputs. Three combiners are considered : the linear combiner, where the detector outputs of each hop (corresponding to the same frequency bin) are summed without any processing; the self-normalized combiner, where the eight detector outputs of any particular hop are normalized so that they add to unity; and the max-normalized combiner, where the eight detector outputs of any hop are divided by the maximum value among those eight outputs. Results indicate that under worst-case tone jamming, the selfnormalized combiner performs the best, the max-normalized combiner second best, and the linear combiner performs the worst among the three.

Komparativní aspekty didaktiky angličtiny v českých a australských diplomových pracích: Karlova univerzita versus The University of Queensland / Comparative aspects of TEFL in Czech and Australian MA theses: Charles University versus The University of QueenslandBraunová, Vendula January 2011 (has links)
This study attempts to identify learning opportunities at the Department of English Language and ELT Methodology at Charles University in Prague via a comparison with an Australian institution, The University of Queensland located in Brisbane. The secondary objective of the study is to further thesis writing culture at the Department at CU by cataloging and auditing past TEFL theses. Thus, future students could more easily and efficiently identify new areas for research and benefit from the foundations laid by previous students. The first half of this thesis provides a review of previous works conducted in the field of the history of English linguistics, with a special focus on ELT Methodology at CU. Thus, a list of Prague TEFL theses submitted between 1946-2008 follows. A similar list is created for UQ TEFL theses between 1994-2009 on the basis of research at UQ that was carried out in 2009-2010. This results in a comparison of TEFL theses topics from both universities' intersection 1994-2008. This information is then linked to establishment of areas of strength or improvement at CU. In phase two of this study, MA theses writing guidelines released by CU and UQ are compared. These guidelines are characterised into five categories, i.e. flexibility, structure, academic integrity, conformity, and...

Quantum topology and meDruivenga, Nathan 01 July 2016 (has links)
This thesis has four chapters. After a brief introduction in Chapter 1, the $AJ$-conjecture is introduced in Chapter 2. The $AJ$-conjecture for a knot $K \subset S^3$ relates the $A$-polynomial and the colored Jones polynomial of $K$. If $K$ satisfies the $AJ$-conjecture, sufficient conditions on $K$ are given for the $(r,2)$-cable knot $C$ to also satisfy the $AJ$-conjecture. If a reduced alternating diagram of $K$ has $\eta_+$ positive crossings and $\eta_-$ negative crossings, then $C$ will satisfy the $AJ$-conjecture when $(r+4\eta_-)(r-4\eta_+)>0$ and the conditions of Theorem 2.2.1 are satisfied. Chapter 3 is about quantum curves and their relation to the $AJ$ conjecture. The variables $l$ and $m$ of the $A$-polynomial are quantized to operators that act on holomorphic functions. Motivated by a heuristic definition of the Jones polynomial from quantum physics, an annihilator of the Chern-Simons section of the Chern-Simons line bundle is found. For torus knots, it is shown that the annihilator matches with that of the colored Jones polynomial. In Chapter 4, a tangle functor is defined using semicyclic representations of the quantum group $U_q(sl_2)$. The semicyclic representations are deformations of the standard representation used to define Kashaev's invariant for a knot $K$ in $S^3$. It is shown that at certain roots of unity the semicyclic tangle functor recovers Kashaev's invariant.

Mediace a její aplikace ve výuce anglického jazyka / Czech-English cross-language mediation in EFL teaching and learningBartáková, Stanislava January 2018 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to introduce the concept of cross-language mediation, which is well established in some countries abroad but is not widely used in the Czech environment, from various points of view. The work tries to show that cross-language mediation is an engaging, effective and interesting activity preparing the learners for real-life mediating situations employing both mother tongue and English. The work is enriching for its battery of mediation activities designed for the Czech context, mediation assessment criteria and a survey among Czech and foreign teachers summarizing their attitude towards mediation and its role in EFL lessons. KEYWORDS: cross-language mediation, translation, mother tongue in EFL teaching

The volume conjecture, the aj conjectures and skein modulesTran, Anh Tuan 21 June 2012 (has links)
This dissertation studies quantum invariants of knots and links, particularly
the colored Jones polynomials, and their relationships with classical invariants like
the hyperbolic volume and the A-polynomial. We consider the volume conjecture that
relates the Kashaev invariant, a specialization of the colored Jones polynomial at a
specific root of unity, and the hyperbolic volume of a link; and the AJ conjecture that
relates the colored Jones polynomial and the A-polynomial of a knot. We establish
the AJ conjecture for some big classes of two-bridge knots and pretzel knots, and
confirm the volume conjecture for some cables of knots.

Historie primární školy ve Výprachticích / History of primary school in VýprachticePešatová, Zuzana January 2020 (has links)
The thesis is a historical character, therefore it is based on the study of primary sources, i.e., school chronicles and other similar documents, in order to clarify the development of primary school in Výprachtice (Lanškroun district). The methods used will be methods of historical research including methods of oral history. In order to understand the context in which school development takes place, it is necessary to pay attention to: a) geographical and economic development of the region b) history of primary school legislation c) the development of education in the region (in Lanškroun) d) the history of the school in Výprachtice Key words: primary documents (chronicles, school documents, etc.), historical developmet, school development, school legislation, school region

Chytré čerpadlo na čerpání vody z nádrže / Smart water pump for water containerJaník, Vladimír January 2021 (has links)
This thesis deals with the implementation of a system for measuring the amount of water in the tank using a 12V water pump. The whole system is controlled by the ESP32 microcontroller. The introduction deals with the theoretical analysis of various principles of measuring the level of liquids. The next part deals with the procedure of the construction of the measuring device and its theoretical analysis. The last part of the work deals with the control of the pump and the individual functions that provide this control. The ultrasonic distance sensor AJ-SR04M was chosen for the implementation of the device. The volume of water in the tank is calculated from its data. The ESP32 microcontroller provides system control via a web interface. The whole system was implemented and tested to measure the volume of water and its pumping in the IBC container.

Řecké náboženství v Baktrii / Greek Religion in BactriaKolmačka, Tobiáš January 2018 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to describe forms of Greek religion in the context of Graeco-Bactrian kingdom. The lack of written sources is typical for the region, my analysis is therefore based on archaeological evidence. The first part of my thesis introduces the archaeological sources connected to the religion. A material culture of Graeco-Bactrian kingdom mixes both Greek and local traditions. The second part of the thesis analyses the formation of the Graeco-Bactrian religious identity. I compare the situation with other Hellenistic states, especially with Syria, using postcolonial models based on theories by Rachel Mairs and Irad Malkin. It seems that Graeco- Bactrian kingdom does not differ from other parts of Hellenistic world. The absence of Greek temples is especially remarkable, I suppose that Hellenistic religion inclined to respect local religious traditions. On the other hand, Hellenistic identity did not depend on Greek religion but on Greek education.
