Foram utilizados 40 bovinos inteiros dos grupos gen?ticos Brangus e Nelore, com idade m?dia de 20 meses e peso corporal inicial m?dio de 361 ? 20 e 357 ? 10 kg, respectivamente. Os animais foram confinados durante 83 dias. Metade dos animais de cada grupo gen?tico foi submetida a uma dieta com baixo n?vel de lip?deos (pr?xima a 3% de extrato et?reo na mat?ria seca) e a outra metade, a uma dieta alta em lip?deos (acima de 6% de extrato et?reo na mat?ria seca), tendo o caro?o de algod?o como fonte de lip?deo. As dietas continham silagem de sorgo e concentrado na rela??o de 30: 70 e eram isoproteicas e isoenerg?ticas. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o inteiramente casualizado com arranjo fatorial 2 x 2 (Brangus ou Nelore vs. Baixa Gordura X Alta Gordura) . N?o houve diferen?as (P>0,05) entre os tratamentos quanto ao peso inicial, peso final, ingest?o de mat?ria seca, oferta de mat?ria seca, sobras, rela??o sobras/ingerido, rela??o sobra/ofertado e ganho m?dio di?rio, ingest?o de mat?ria seca como porcentagem do peso vivo e ganho m?dio di?rio. Entretanto, houve diferen?as (P<0,05) para efici?ncia alimentar e convers?o alimentar entre os grupos gen?ticos, sendo que os animais da ra?a Nelore foram mais eficientes e tiveram uma melhor convers?o alimentar. N?o houve diferen?as (P>0,05) entre as dietas e grupamento racial tampouco intera??es entre as seguintes vari?veis: conforma??o, maturidade fisiol?gica, cor, textura, ?rea de olho de lombo, espessura de gordura subcut?nea, profundidade externa, profundidade interna, peso do f?gado e peso da gordura perirrenal. Os animais Nelore tiveram um maior peso de carca?a se comparados com os Brangus (P<0,05) e tamb?m tiveram um melhor rendimento de carca?a (P<0,05). A digestibilidade das dietas foi determinada em experimento paralelo ao confinamento, utilizando-se doze novilhas Nelore, durante dois per?odos e n?o houve diferen?as para digestibilidade das dietas (P>0,05). A inclus?o de caro?o de algod?o em dietas para animais em confinamento variando o n?vel de extrato et?reo n?o alterou o desempenho e caracter?sticas de carca?a dos animais Nelore e Brangus. / Disserta??o (Mestrado) ? Programa de P?s-Gradua??o em Zootecnia, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2016. / The objective was to evaluate the productive performance of two genetic groups in receiving diets with different levels of lipids in the feedlot. Forty Brangus and Nellore bulls with average initial body weight of 361 ? 20 and 357 ? 10 kg, respectively, were utilized. The feedlot period was 83 days. Half of the animals from each group was subjected to a diet with low level of lipids (close to 3% of ether extract in dry-matter basis) and the other half, to a high-lipid diet (above 6% of ether extract in dry-matter basis), with cottonseed as the lipid source. Diets contained sorghum silage and concentrate in a 30: 70 ratio and were isoproteic and isocaloric. The experimental design was completely randomized in a factorial arrangemet (Brangus or Nellore vs. Low-fat diet vs. High-fat diet). There were no differences (P>0.05) between treatments for initial and final body weight, dry matter intake, dry matter offer, orts, orts/intake ratio, orts/offered ratio, average daily gain, dry matter intake as percentage of body weight. However, there were differences (P<0.05) for feed efficiency and feed conversion between breeding groups, with Nellore animals being better. There were no differences (P>0.05) between diets and breeding groups neither interaction for the following variables: conformation, physiological maturity, color, texture, ribeye area, fat thickness, external depth, internal depth, liver weight, and perirenal fat weight. Nellore animals had greater carcass weight compared with Brangus and had better carcass yield. Digestibility of diets was determined in a parallel experiment, utilizing 12 Nellore heifers, during two periods. There were no differences (P>0.05). The inclusion of cottonseed in diets for feedlot animals varying the level of ether extract did not affected the performance and carcass traits of Nellore and Brangus animals.

Programa de P?s-Gradua??o em Produ??o Vegetal, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2017. / Brazil is one of the world's largest cotton producers, not only in terms of volume but also in quality and innovation. However, insect pest attack is one of the main barriers to cotton productivity, which is accentuated by large areas of monoculture. One of the management tactics that is being used is the resistance of plants. The culture hosts several organisms, including a large number of arthropods such as the aphid Aphis gossypii Glover 1877 (Hemiptera: Aphididae) and the phytophagous spider mite Tetranychus ludeni zacher, 1913 (Acari: Tetranychidae), which feed on the aerial part of the plants. Cause economic losses. The transgenic varieties used in pest management are developed to control a particular group of insects, according to the toxin they express. However, when expressed continuously, these toxins are exposed to other plant-eating herbivores, raising concerns that large-scale use of this technology may have adverse effects on non-target arthropods. The impact of Bt proteins on non-target arthropods is less understood than its effects on target organisms where the mechanism of toxic action is known. There is little information on the effects of Bt transgenics on populations of aphids and mites, and on the stress caused by the attack of these arthropods. The objective of this work was to evaluate the development of non-target organisms in genetically modified cotton and to evaluate the physiological stress caused by the attack of spider mites and aphids in transgenic and conventional cotton. According to the results obtained it is possible to conclude that the toxins Cry1F and Cry1Ac have no effect on the development of T. ludeni, and that Bt cotton was less infested by A. gossypii. The severity of the infestation of these arthropods causes changes in chlorophyll fluorescence parameters, promoting plant Physiological stress in both Bt cotton and isoline. Collectively, these results provide strong evidence that Bt technology can complement other integrated pest control tactics, especially if coupled with biological control.

As variedades BRS Verde, BRS Rubi, BRS Marrom e BRS Top?zio foram produzidas, analisadas e comparadas com os algod?es existentes na regi?o. As propriedades das fibras foram dimensionadas nos aparelhos Classifiber, NATI, Pressley, Micronaire. Os resultados foram bastantes promissores para utiliza??o dos algod?es geneticamente melhorados ind?stria t?xtil. / In this work evaluate the technical characteristics of the fibers grown in settlements Guamar?, colored cotton seeds were donated existing in the Germplasm Bank of Embrapa Cotton. We sought through the breeding program, raising the resistance, fineness, length and uniformity of cotton fibers, as well as stabilize the staining of fibers in the BRS Topaz, BRS Brown and BRS Green shades and raise their productivity in the field. First, the individual selections to test progeny seeds, and thereafter the hybridization method followed by family selection to obtain variations in the color tones were performed. The BRS Topaz, BRS Brown and BRS Green varieties were produced, analyzed and compared with existing cottons in the region which is the White cotton. The properties amount of impurities and neps, length, length uniformity, short fiber content, fineness and tensile strength of the fibers were sized in Classifiber, NATI, Pressley and Micronaire devices. 10 trials each with 10 tests for all four fiber types were carried out. The White and Topaz fibers showed greater length (32-34mm) and greater resistance (7.94 lb/mg and 7.97 lb/mg respectively) and showed finesse with lower micronaire index 3,71?g/inch and 3, 73?g/inch and a low rate of short fibers. The results were very promising for the use of genetically improved cotton in the manufacturing of fabric and yarn in the textile industry. Esta propriedade tem como caracter?stica a capacidade de decompor subst?ncias org?nicas, adsorvidas sobre a superf?cie do material; isto ocorre por meio da fotodegrada??o (rea??o qu?mica produzida na presen?a de um fotocatalizador). O di?xido de tit?nio (TiO2) est? entre os nanomateriais mais utilizados como fotocatalizador na ind?stria t?xtil. Diversos m?todos s?o empregados para a deposi??o de TiO2. Um exemplo comum deste tipo de processo para aplica??o em tecidos t?xteis ? a pr?-ativa??o da superf?cie atrav?s de plasma, seguida de imers?o em solu??o sol-gel com TiO2. Neste caso, s?o utilizados elementos qu?micos que elevam os custos do processo, al?m de se tornarem t?xicos. Neste ?mbito, este trabalho prop?e uma t?cnica alternativa para acabamento t?xtil com TiO2. Ela consiste em aspergir sobre o tecido, as nanopart?culas (NPs) de TiO2 dilu?das em ?gua destilada, utilizando um nebulizador pneum?tico a jato de ar. A t?cnica tamb?m utiliza um filme de carbono (Diamond-like carbon - DLC) para reduzir a hidrofilicidade do tecido de algod?o potencializando, assim, o processo de autolimpeza na superf?cie do tecido. As amostras, ap?s a aspers?o, foram secadas em estufa por 5 minutos a 100?C e introduzidas em reator de plasma, com fonte de descarga cont?nua pulsada, para deposi??o do filme de DLC em atmosfera CH4 (g?s metano) em tr?s tempos diferentes de deposi??o: 10, 20 e 30 minutos. A caracteriza??o do material foi realizada por Microscopia eletr?nica de varredura (MEV), Espectroscopia de energia dispersiva (EDS), Espectroscopia Raman, contagem de distribui??o de part?culas, fotodegrada??o por radia??o de luz Ultra Violeta (UV) e an?lise de molhabilidade por m?todo wicking de espalhamento e absor??o de l?quido. Na an?lise da morfologia da superf?cie, os resultados mostraram boa distribui??o das part?culas sobre a amostra. Em rela??o ao tempo de deposi??o do DLC, as amostras tratadas em 10 minutos, apresentaram os melhores resultados tanto para a fotodegrada??o do corante azul metileno sob luz UV, quanto para o espalhamento e absor??o de l?quidos. Esses resultados mostraram que a utiliza??o do nebulizador para depositar TiO2 sobre um material t?xtil ? vi?vel e que o filme de DLC, al?m de funcionar como ancoragem para as NPs, tamb?m diminui a hidrofilicidade do tecido de algod?o sem interromper a a??o de fotodegrada??o do TiO2. Al?m disso, a t?cnica proposta reduz a quantidade de ?gua como ve?culo de deposi??o das NPs, o tempo e custo no processo de acabamento t?xtil. Todos esses aspectos s?o relevantes para a produ??o industrial no momento onde se busca redu??o dos custos aliada ao menor impacto ambiental. / Nanomaterials have received increasing interest in the textile industry, e.g. in engineering surface and textile finishing of woven fabrics, knits, yarns and fibers. Textile materials treated with these nanomaterials acquire new properties like self-cleaning. Self-cleaning is the ability to decompose organic materials adsorbed on surface, which occurs through photodegradation reaction. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is one of the nanomaterials most used as photocat alysts in textile industry. Several methods have been employed for TiO2 deposition on textile fabrics surfaces. A common example is immerse a fabric to a sol-gel solution with pre-activation of substrate surface by plasma. In this context, we present an alternative technique for textile finishing: TiO2 nanoparticles suspended in distilled water and spr aying on cotton woven fabric sample by using pneumatic air blast nebulizer. Afterwards, the samples were dried in oven at 100?C for 5 minutes. Then, fabric were introduced in the plasma reactor of d.c. pulsed source for DLC film deposition. The plasma atmosphere was composed of CH4 (methane gas) and three different deposition times were employed: 10, 20 and 30 minutes. The samples were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS), Raman Spectroscopy, wettability analysis by wicking method of spreading and absorption of liquid, count of particles distribution, and photodegradation by UV light radiation. The results of surface morphology analysis showed good distribution of particles on the substrate surface. The samples modified by TiO2 and plasma deposition of DLC film at 10 minutes, had the best results of methylene blue dye degradation in UV light, as well as spreading and absorption of liquids. These results showed that the use of nebulizer to deposit TiO2 on textile material is feasible and the DLC film in addition to anchor TiO2 NPs, decreases the cotton fabric hydrophilicity without interrupting the action of photodegradation of TiO2. Furthermore, the proposed technique reduces the amount of water as a vehicle for depositing the nanoparticles, the time and costs in the t?xtil e finishing process. All these aspects are relevant for industrial production at the moment when it seeks to reduce costs coupled with lower environmental impact.

This species has been maintained as dooryard plants, and should be preserved as a genetic resource. Hybrids were evaluated about traits related to fitness, leading to infer about its chances of survivor and selection. A barbadense genotype collected at the state of Mato Grosso was outcrossed to the variety DP 404, containing the gene cry1Ac, and to the isoline DP 404. All the F1 individuals and 122 among 170 F2 individuals expressed the toxin, and presented levels of resistance to pink bollworm (Pectinophora gossypiella) and cotton leafworm (Alabama argillacea) equivalent to the transgenic parent and superior to the isoline, barbadense or non transgenic hybrids. The percentage of germination and number of days to germinate did not differ among genotypes. Anthesis of the first flower and opening of the first cotton boll occurred earlier for herbaceous cotton and F1 hybrids than F2 population in average; all the populations presented a number of days to flower and opening of the first boll smaller then barbadense. The highest plants were barbadenses, and herbaceus the smallest, with F1 and F2 populations presenting intermediary heights. The number of seeds per plants were superior for F1 hybrids an herbaceous cotton, F2 populations were in average intermediary; the barbadense genotype produced the smallest number of seeds per plant. Pink bollworm, mainly, and also cotton leafworm, are important barbadense pests, so the transgene positive effect could favor the selection of hybrids, and hence G. hirsutum genome, against the maintenance of pure G. barbadense genome. H?bridos foram avaliados para caracteres relacionados com a adaptabilidade, inferindo sobre suas chances de sobreviv?ncia e sele??o. Para isto, obtiveram-se plantas F1 e F2 do cruzamento entre um algodoeiro barbadense coletado no estado de Mato Grosso com as cultivares DP404, contendo cry1Ac, e de sua isolinha DP4049. Todos os 37 indiv?duos F1 e 122 dentre 170 indiv?duos F2 avaliados expressaram cry1Ac, e apresentaram n?veis de resist?ncia ?s lagartas rosada (Pectinophora gossypiella) e curuquer?-doalgodoeiro (Alabama argillacea) equivalentes ao parental transg?nicos e superiores a isolinha, barbadense e h?bridos que n?o continham o transgene. N?o foram observadas diferen?as significativas para a porcentagem de germina??o ou quantidade de dias para germina??o. O florescimento e abertura do primeiro capulho ocorreram mais cedo nos algodoeiros herb?ceos e nos h?bridos que nas popula??es F2 em m?dia; todas as popula??es apresentaram um n?mero de dias para o florescimento e abertura do primeiro capulho significativamente mais baixo que os barbadenses. As plantas mais altas na matura??o eram os barbadenses, e os herb?ceos as mais baixas, sendo as popula??es F1 e F2 intermedi?rias. O n?mero de sementes por planta foi superior nos h?bridos F1 e algodoeiros herb?ceos, sendo as popula??es F2 intermedi?rias em m?dia, e os barbadenses aqueles que produziram menor n?mero de sementes. A lagarta rosada, principalmente, e tamb?m a curuquer?-do-algodoeiro s?o importantes pragas de G. barbadense, portanto o efeito positivo do transgene pode favorecer a sele??o de h?bridos contendo o transgene, e deste modo favorecer plantas que cont?m genoma de G. hirsutum, em detrimento da pureza do genoma de barbadense. A sele??o deve ser influenciada pelos usos da planta: o fato de os h?bridos serem mais baixos pode diferenci?-los dos pais barbadenses aos quais a propriedades medicinais s?o atribuidas; por outro lado, a produ??o bem maior de capulhos pode favorecer a manuten??o dos h?bridos quando se visa confec??o de pavios ou ornamenta??o de quintais e jardins

Although the cotton is considered a tolerant culture, it can suffer substantial reductions in regarding its growth and production when exposed to salinity condition. The aims of this study went evaluate the effect of the saline stress in the germination phase to four cotton genotypes (BRS Rubi, BRS Safira, BRS 201 and CNPA 187 8H), using different osmotic potentials generated with increment of sodium chloride (NaCl). The saline stress was simulated using NaCl aqueous solutions in the potentials: 0.0 (Control); -0.2; -0.4; -0.6; -0.8 and -1.0 MPa. The treatments were monitored by means of tests for analysis of seeds, germination, first counting, speed germination index, length of shoot, radicle length, dry weigth of embrionic axis and shoot/radicle ratio. The tests for germination, first counting and index of germination speed were accomplished using 50 seeds for repetition and for the study of length of shoot, radicle length, dry weigth of embrionic axis and shoot/radicle ratio were used 20 seeds by repetition. For both tests four repetitions were accomplished by genotype for each one of the potentials. The seeds of each repetition were involved in papers Germitest humidified with NaCl solution corresponding to the potential. The repetitions of both tests were maintained in a germinator with saturated humidity. The analysis were initiate four days after the induction of the saline stress. The evaluations of the first three variables analyzed were accomplished daily; the seeds were remove and counted when its germinated. For the length tests just the repetitions corresponding to the potential of NaCl 0,0 MPa were analysis 4 days after the beginning of the induction of the saline stress. The analysis of the repetitions of the potentials -0,2 and -0,4 and of the potentials -0,6, -0,8 and -1,0 MPa they were accomplished with 12 and 20 days, respectively. For accomplishment of the analisis of this test the shoot of the 20 plantules of each repetition was separate from the radicle and both parts were measured. The statistical analyses were performed using the GENMOD and GLM procedures of the SAS. For the variable germination, the cultivates CNPA 187 8H and BRS Safira stood out for the potential -0.8 MPa, with averages of 89% and 81%, respectively. The test of speed germination index to cultivate BRS Safira presented the largest averages for the two higher saline potentials. It was observed that the increase of the saline potential reduces the germination percentage and speed germination index. For each day of evaluation it was verified that the increase of the saline potential causes a reduction of the length both of the shoot and of the radicle. Para ambos os testes, foram realizadas quatro repeti??es por gen?tipo para cada um dos potenciais. As sementes de cada repeti??o foram envolvidas em pap?is Germitest umedecidos com a solu??o de NaCl correspondente ao potencial. As repeti??es de ambos os testes foram conduzidas em germinador e a umidade mantida ao ponto de satura??o. As leituras das tr?s primeiras vari?veis analisadas foram iniciadas quatro dias ap?s a indu??o do estresse salino. As avalia??es foram realizadas diariamente; as sementes foram retiradas e contabilizadas ? medida que ocorria a germina??o. Para os testes de comprimento, apenas as repeti??es correspondentes ao potencial de NaCl 0,0 MPa foram lidas, quatro dias ap?s o in?cio da indu??o do estresse. As leituras das repeti??es dos potenciais -0,2 e -0,4 e dos potenciais -0,6, -0,8 e -1,0 MPa foram realizadas, respectivamente, aos 12? e 20? dias. In both, the fluxe was 5 sccm (second cubic centimeter), pressure 6 mbar, voltage 490 V and current 0,15A. The objective of work was measure the superficial tension of 100% CO then it treated with plasma, using contact angle measures of water and glycerol with the surface. The samples were tested after treatment, with 8 and 12 months to verify the superficial modification effects. It was verified an increase of hydrophobility with the Sessile drop values varied between 116,69? to 137,85? and it carried on after 12 months. The no treated samples shows contact angle equal 0?. OES analysis and Raman spectroscopy were accomplished. In the SEM analysis was verified oligomers. Especificamente no Brasil, a ind?stria de biodiesel tem apresentado importante crescimento de produ??o, tendo em vista as leis federais que obrigam a mistura do B100 (biodiesel) ao diesel f?ssil. Diante da import?ncia desta ind?stria para o Brasil, este trabalho buscou avaliar o potencial do ?leo de sementes de algod?o para a produ??o de biodiesel a partir de tr?s t?cnicas: transesterifica??o, utilizando etanol, interesterifica??o, usando acetato de metila, e interesterifica??o, com acetato de metila e adi??o de solu??o aquosa de ?cido ac?tico. As rea??es ocorreram em condi??es supercr?ticas, em reator tubular de fluxo cont?nuo com volume de 15 mL. O rendimento m?ximo obtido pela transesterifica??o foi de 75,05%, na press?o de 150 e 200 bar, 375 ?C, raz?o molar ?leo/etanol 1:40, e tempos espaciais 40 min (150 bar) e 30 min (200 bar). J? na rota utilizando acetato de metila, o maior rendimento foi de 99,51% (?steres met?licos de ?cidos graxos + triacetina), obtido em 35 min, raz?o m?ssica ?leo/acetato de metila 1:3, press?o 200 bar e 350 ?C, utilizando 20%, em massa, de solu??o aquosa de ?cido ac?tico com concentra??o de 26%. Foram observados elevados valores de decomposi??o do biodiesel, em ambas as rotas, devido ?s altas concentra??es de triglicer?deos poliinsaturados no ?leo e ?s severas condi??es do processo. / In the global energy context, biodiesel has emerged as an important source of renewable energy, mainly due to its ease of production and the variety of raw material available worldwide. Specifically in Brazil, the biodiesel industry has shown significant production growth, due to the federal laws that require the mixing of B100 (biodiesel) with fossil diesel. Considering the importance of this industry to Brazil, this work sought to evaluate the potential of cotton seed oil for the production of biodiesel from three techniques: transesterification using ethanol, interesterification using methyl acetate and interesterification with methyl acetate and addition of aqueous acetic acid solution. The reactions occurred under supercritical conditions in a continuous flow tubular reactor with a volume of 15 mL. The maximum yield obtained by transesterification was 75.05%, at 150 and 200 bar pressure, 375 ?C, 1:40 oil/ethanol molar ratio, and spatial times 40 min (150 bar) and 30 min (200 bar). In the other method, using methyl acetate, the highest yield was 99.51% (methyl esters of fatty acids+ triacetin) obtained in 35 min, oil/methyl acetate ratio 1:3, pressure 200 bar and 350 ?C, using 20%, by mass, of aqueous acetic acid solution with a concentration of 26%. High values of biodiesel decomposition were observed in both routes due to the high concentrations of polyunsaturated triglycerides in the oil and the severe process conditions.

It relates specific problems that small cotton agriculturists face in the cotton production and sale as well as their perception in relation to public policies that have been put into practice in these districts. The research revealed soils with potentiality for the cotton culture, but that are not being cultivated for anything else but subsistence, not being able to become productive, specifically through the cotton culture. That activity should be practiced so that it preserves the environment and the familiar farmers themselves, since it was verified they are constant1y exposed to health problems due to insecticides use. In what refers to fomentation policies it was observed that bureaucracy delays the liberation of the money destined to production, seeds delivery and other actions related to production and commercialization. Some procedures such as information and training about productivity development and attention with the environrnent and infrastructure are recommended. The results indicate lack of investments, rural credit and technical help, main1y in Triunfo Potiguar. There is unanimity, from the rural farmers of that district in what refers to the desire of improving the production and remaining in that activity. In this sense, the contribution of this research for the most appropriate culture production can be materialized through the technique of tissue's culture, aimed at obtaining plants that are resistant to diseases. The data indicated that the hormonal supplementations used induced regenerative calluses making in vitro morphogenesis possible in alI tested varieties. The use of the activated coal antioxidant was efficient, reducing oxidation, however not suppressing it. The results lead to an opportunity for the familiar t?rmers from Rio Grande do Norte enlarge the cotton culture, because to obtain plants that are resistant to diseases implies in insecticides reduction, propitiating smaller impact to the atmosphere and less cost / Este trabalho tem como objeto de estudo a cotonicultura familiar nos Munic?pios de Tangar? e Triunfo Potiguar, localizados no Estado do Rio Grande do Norte. Discute problemas espec?ficos que os pequenos cotonicultores enfrentam para a produ??o e a venda do algod?o bem como sua percep??o quanto ?s pol?ticas p?blicas que v?m sendo postas em pr?tica nos munic?pios. A pesquisa revelou ?reas cultiv?veis com potencialidade para a cotonicultura, mas que, n?o est?o sendo cultivados para al?m da subsist?ncia, deixando de se tomarem produtivos, especificamente atrav?s da cotonicultura. Essa atividade deve ser praticada de forma que preserve o meio ambiente e os pr?prios agricultores familiares, pois se constatou estarem estes expostos permanentemente a problemas de sa?de decorrentes do uso de agrot?xicos.
