Anvandare och Informationssystem : en komplex relation

Björk, Åsa January 1999 (has links)

The distribution of user influence on local collections in a floating collection

Bublik, Iva, Eriksson, Emma January 2023 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to contribute with knowledge about how floating collections can be distributed in different areas of a city. The focus of the study is to see how the library use that influences the floating collections is distributed across the city of Gothenburg and what consequences it may have for access to media in different locations around the city. The research questions posed are: How is the use of library collections distributed in a city with a floating collection? How does user influence shape the local collections in a floating collection? and How do librarians in Gothenburg deal with the effects of a floating collection? The empirical material is official statistics collected from libraries in Gothenburg. The statistics include the number of reservations, borrowed media and returned media from each library and also the turn over rate of the circulation. The theoretical framework that is being used is Michael K. Bucklands theory of the roles of collections. The results show that the collections are unevenly distributed in some areas, that users are more inclined to make reservations for media incertain areas and that librarians sometimes make reservations to their workplace to even out unbalances.

Tillgänglig 24/7 : Fem folkbibliotek på sociala medier. / Available 24/7 : Five public libraries on social media.

Boman, Niclas, Magnusson, Petra January 2014 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to examine how five public libraries reason about the use of social media in their day-to-day work. This thesis aim to answer three research questions: What is the libraries use of social media today? How do libraries look upon their own use of social media? And have the libraries formulated any goals about their use of social media, and what are their thoughts on this? The methodology used in this thesis is a content analysis of the libraries social media and a questionnaire interview which was sent by mail to all of the libraries involved. The theoretical framework for the thesis is a model developed by Jochumsen, Hvenegaard Rasmussen and Skot-Hansen.The results of our study shows that the room of meetings, from the theoretical framework, are the most represented in the content of the social media used by the libraries. The libraries find that social media is a good way to connect and communicate with their users, but they feel that the time they spend on their social media is not enough. Our study also shows that most of the libraries have not formulated any goals for their use of social media, and that they do not have any intentions to do so. / Program: Bibliotekarie

Inköpsförslag : en kvalitativ studie av hur inköpsförslag hanteras på folkbibliotek / Purchase proposals : a qualitative study of how public libraries handle purchase proposals

Mason, Amy January 2022 (has links)
The aim of this bachelor thesis was to investigate how librarians at Swedish public libraries handle purchase proposals from patrons. The thoughts and reflections on intellectual freedom in relation to selection, quality and the issues the librarians face in this process was studied through semi-structured interviews with six librarians responsible for acquiring purchase proposals. The theoretical framework was based on Emily Knox’s practical philosophy for librarianship, consisting of codification, institutionalization, and investigation. The method of qualitative content analysis was used and four themes have been identified: user influence, regulatory documents, problematic purchase proposals, and selection methods. The results show that librarians value intellectual freedom and democracy higher than literary or research quality. Censorship is something that they work against, as controversial subjects with which the librarians or the community do not agree are still acquired granted the content is not illegal in any way. Two reports investigated by the judicial authority (Justitieombudsmannen) have changed the way librarians handle problematic purchase proposals. These reports precipitated the need for local media policies and plans that guide librarians in the selection process. No public library can or should stock everything, but the mission is to ensure that the public library is for everyone. Most purchase proposals are acquired and by selecting media that is uncomfortable for some patrons, or even for a democracy, librarians uphold intellectual freedom.
