Plánování a analýzy efektů podnikové informatiky / Planning and analysis of the effects of Enterprise Information SystemsBauerová, Zuzana January 2010 (has links)
In this thesis, the issue which is discussed applies to effects of Business Intelligence (BI). They are described in more detail the benefits and potential use of BI in various application areas, namely finance, marketing, manufacturing, logistics, supply chain management, human resources, CI, web analytics, informatics, and CPM. There are a lot of effects which BI brings. They are divided into different categories, which are the effects of economic, customer, personnel and increasing the analytical process and performance. BI provides many benefits to all of mentioned application areas. But in each of them it may occurs some problems which may involves the introduction of BI into different areas. The main goal is to review the possibilities of planning and analysis of BI effects. I would like to make the readers acquainted with effects which are brought together with BI applications, with the structure based on the application areas and based on the categories mentioned here. All of the effects are collected from the case studies and others sources mentioned in the end. The main contribution is the unified view to the effects which brings the implementation of BI to the enterprise. At each of the effects are mentioned the main dimensions needed to monitor during analysis, and importance to the enterprise during its planning. This thesis can be used as a basis for the next topics connected with the effects of BI or with the application areas.

POF - polymerová optická vlákna / POF - polymer optical fibresMikulec, Matěj January 2012 (has links)
This work focuses on polymer optical fiber (POF). It describes basic properties of polymer optical fibers, materials for production and methods of manufacturing processes. In following chapters are given individual fibers that vary different refractive indexes and diameter of fiber. Also there are analyse connectors which are used for joining. As very suitable solution for home installation seems to be using the system Optolock without connectors. In the work is also written several areas where it is possible to use the POF. It can break through in automotive industry, home networks or as a sensor. The practical part contains measuring polygon draft and FTTH proposal using POF for distribution system in the house, where P2P topology is choosen. It´s also made a proposal for distribution of POF in the apartment. For installation in the apartment prices of network components are compared between POF distribution and UTP cat.6 cabling. UTP cat.6 is in this comparison many times more cheaply. Final chapter evaluate demands on work with POF fibers. Describes preparation of fiber before communication and creation of small experimental network. Important findings of the work are summarized in the conclusion.

Investigating the Emotional Impact of Social Robots : A Comparative Study on the Influence of Appearance and Application Area on Human EmotionsWallén, Tyra January 2023 (has links)
The rapid development of social robots, designed to interact with humans, has led to increased research on user acceptance and emotions in human-robot interaction. Social acceptance is an important area to investigate if the development of social robots is to be useful. Investigating how people feel about social robots is one tool to assess acceptance toward them, and research has shown that positive emotions could invoke higher acceptance. Possible factors that have been shown to affect peoples’ attitudes regarding social robots is (1) the human-likeness and appearance of the robot and (2) the application area of the robot. Therefore, this thesis research questions address the effect of human-likeness and application areas of social robots on people's emotions. The findings indicate that in the context of companionship, people have varying emotional responses based on the appearance of the social robot. Highly human-like robots evoke more positive emotions, while low human-likeness robots elicit more negative emotions. This suggests that individuals prefer human-like social robots in intimate interactions like companionship. The results also reveal an effect of application areas, where people respond more positively to highly human-like robots used for tasks like lecturing students or companionship for older adults. Regarding less human-like social robots, people tend to respond with greater positive emotions when used within commerce. This suggests that a simpler-looking robot with low human-likeness is more suitable for commercial applications. Negative emotions expressed in the healthcare condition may reflect mistrust in robots' abilities and the sensitivity of the healthcare area. Developers and designers should consider the emotional responses that might be evoked by the task or appearance of the social robot, to ensure successful integration into society.

On the application areas of blockchainGhaffari, Zahra January 2016 (has links)
The goal of this study is to identify the current application areas and some possible application areas for blockchain; blockchain is a distributed database that is currently most known for being the technology used for storing transaction information of digital currencies such as the Bitcoin. Through a literature review and interviews with domain experts, we identified some current application areas for blockchain, that is, money transactions, decentralized data and privacy protection, and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAO). Within the area of decentralized data and privacy protection, we further identified the two sub-areas of smart contracts and secure identities. In addition, we identified some possible application areas by conducting a second literature review. Some of these application areas are: storing mind files and human intelligence, on-line voting, supply chain management, stock trading, Internet of Things (IoT), and banking. The contribution of this study can be used for further studies through each of the above application areas in order to identify possible advantages and disadvantages.
