La formation d'un tissu urbain dans la Cité de Tours : du site de l'amphithéâtre antique au quartier canonial (5e-18e s.)

Lefebvre, Bastien 02 December 2008 (has links)
This survey of the urban fabric on the site of the Roman amphitheatre at Tours leads to a different lecture beside the traditional historical topography, by stressing less on the situations than on the functional, spatial and temporal relationships between the urban objects. The modelling of the dynamics of the urban fabric (streets, plots but also buildings that emerge from the ancient amphitheatre) allows to identify and to describe the processes resulting in the formation of the urban space in the Medieval and Modern Periods. Compared with the rest of the city, the peculiarity of the site lies not only on the presence of the antique amphitheatre, but especially on the social destination of the space which first was occupied by an aristocratic housing in the Early Middle Ages then formed, from the 13th century onwards, part of the canonial precinct of the cathedral.

Ušlechtilý zájem. Ženy v české archeologii v 19. a na počátku 20. století / Noble Interest. Women in Czech Archaeology in 19th and at the Beginning of 20th Century

SKLENÁŘOVÁ, Eva January 2007 (has links)
This paper concentrates on the role of women in science, specifically in archaeology of past centuries. The women{\crq}s access to education and scientific career had been restricted by then notion of woman{\crq}s proper standing in society {--} educated and independently intellectually active woman didn{\crq}t fit in the required role of the custodian of family hearth, of spouse and mother. So the women interested in science had to overcome various prejudices and obstacles. The introduction of this work briefly informs about traditional women{\crq}s standing in the society and about possibilities of their education in the setting of high schools and universities in the flow of centuries. It presents also a short insight into the history of archaeology as a discipline to show in which stage it was in the time these women worked in it. This paper finds in these women pre-archaeologists three kinds of leading motivations. The first, most typical model, were women influenced by their husbands. Women of the archaeologists often participated on their work either from marital solidarity or of one{\crq}s own interest that survived the spouse{\crq}s death. The second biggest group was formed by the daughters of archaeologists that grew up amongst prehistoric relics and, as kids, attended archaeological research with their fathers. In this group we also find either a short time fascination or lifelong influence. The third group is formed by the women from non-archaeologist families. Some of them familiarized with prehistoric relics through their commercial interests, others, and this group was bigger, displayed purely personal passion for this science. This latter group made friends with important archaeologists of their time and engaged in this trade under their leadership. The last part of the work is formed by the succinct reference on educated professional women archaeologists who followed this pioneers on the area of interest {--} though in fact they don{\crq}t fit into epoch and topic investigated.

Céramiques et verres mérovingiens dans la vallée mosane. Apports de l'archéologie et de l'archéométrie à l'histoire économique, sociale et culturelle

Van Wersch, Line 01 April 2011 (has links)
Thank to an interdisciplinary approach involving archaeology and scientific analysis, Merovingian ceramic and glass found in the Meuse-valley have been studied. This approach allowed us to elaborate a typochronology for these type of artifact and moreover to shed some light on the history of craft, economic aspects and the cultural impregnations of this particular time. Aside from the darkness that can be associated to this period, Merovingian craftmen still mastered specific skills and technological evolutions took place. Until the middle of the VIth century, trade networks were not abandoned. For glass production, raw material seems to be imported from Mediterranean regions and glass final products as well as clay vessels were still exported at a regional scale. Between the end of the VIth and the VIIth century, glass becomes rare and new types of ceramic locally made appears. In cemeteries, living settlements and productions sites, both crafts underline economical and cultural modifications in the Meuse-valley. Finally, at the end of the Merovingian period, ceramic and glass reflect new consumptions behavior that came into sight announcing the transition to the Carolingian world.

Orientální kulty v Noriku v období principátu / Oriental Cults in Noricum during the Principate Era

Sarkisjan, Juraj January 2012 (has links)
The main topic of the diploma thesis are oriental, Syro-Anatolian cults, which had affected and influenced the natives and other religions in the province of Noricum. It also mentions their origins and the way how they came to Roman Empire. We have set this work into the principate era, because of it's main goal: to explain the arrival of the cults into the province and also the issue of their spreading, rather than their declining period. This diploma thesis is also supplemented with a catalogue, which contains data of every object, which was mentioned in the literature, on the subject of Syro-Anatolian cults.
