Nakvynės namuose gyvenančių vaikų adaptacijos ypatumai Vilniaus miesto mokyklose (vaikų, jų tėvų ir socialinių darbuotojų vertinimas) / The peculiarities of children living in housing/homeless shelter adaptation in Vilnius city schools (evaluation of children, their parents and social workers)

Norkūnaitė, Laura 04 January 2013 (has links)
[toliau žr. visą tekstą] / Subject of study: The peculiarities of children living in housing/homeless shelter adaptation in Vilnius city schools (evaluation of children, their parents and social workers). Problem and novelty of the study: the adaptation in schools of children from homeless shelters is a relevant problem because while student is heavily adapting in school, he experiences failure, often looses intention to learn, the motivation to learn also weakens so it influences the rest of his life. Since children have no intention or possibilities to go to school and to get an education therefore homeless children do not gain skills and knowledge which could help them to escape from poverty in the future. In order to change this situation it is very important to collect as much information about children life problems, conditions, circumstances of their family life and also adaptation problems. There are jus few scientific studies in Lithuania about the problems of homeless children. It is often just articles which contains empirical studies information associated with the values of homeless people, their personal peculiarities and living conditions. There are no specific studies about children living in housing/homesless shelters. Thus the problem of homeless children adaptation in schools is not widely developed and statistical data is not clear because homeless children are just slightly mentioned. The purpose of this study is to analyze problems and peculiarities of adaptation in schools of... [to full text]

Analýza situace dětí ve věku 0-6 let vyrůstajících v ústavních zařízeních v Kraji Vysočina / Analysis of the Situation of CHildren Aged 0-6 Years Growing up in Residentional Homes in the Region Vysočina

FÁROVÁ, Jana January 2012 (has links)
In the Czech Republic, about one per cent of children grow up outside their own families, mainly children under the age of three. For this reason the Czech Republic has lately received several important challenges concerning a fundamental reform of the children at risk care system. The aim of my thesis was to carry out an analysis of the development and changes in the comprehensive care and in the situation of the children in the Children?s Centre Jihlava and in the Children?s Home Kamenice nad Lipou in the years 2005, 2010 and 2011 in chosen aspects. The research was focused on changes over time in the situation of concrete children?s homes, further on the changes in the provided care depending on the children?s characteristics and specific needs, and finally on the changes in the cooperation with the biological families and in the circumstances how the stay of children is terminated. To achieve these goals of my thesis, a secondary data analysis and SWOT analysis was carried out. Two files were analysed recording the situation in the Children?s Centre and in the Children?s Home during the the years 2005, 2010 and 2011.

An evaluation of school readiness in an informal settlement

Naidoo, Balendran 06 1900 (has links)
School readiness is a stage in a child's development when he learns easily and effectively. A child who is not yet ready for school on school entry is already at a disadvantage in the formal learning situation. This in itself can affect his school performance in the later years. The researcher, being a primary school teacher noticed that the children from the informal settlements that had no pre-school intervention arrived at school unready to learn. This investigation set out to evaluate the school readiness of children from an informal settlement without a pre-school programme. The school readiness of these children were compared against children from an informal settlement with a pre-school programme. Test and questionnaires were used to determine the five year olds' school readiness. The researcher used the idiographic method of research. The findings of the research were based on the interpretations of the tests and questionnaires. / Educational Studies / M. Ed. (with specialisation in Guidance and Counselling)
