CAPITAL AND THE MONETARY BUSINESS CYCLE THEORY: ESSAYS ON THE AUSTRIAN THEORY OF CAPITAL, INTEREST, AND BUSINESS CYCLE / Kapitál a monetární teorie hospodářského cyklu: Eseje o rakouské teorii kapitálu, úroku a hospodářském cykluPotužák, Pavel January 2015 (has links)
This dissertation explores four big topics in the Austrian economic theory. Chapter 1 elucidates the Austrian theory of capital. It introduces basic tools that are further used in the analysis of the business cycle. It also clarifies some misunderstandings in this theory. Chapter 2 investigates the evolution of the interest rate over the business cycle that is predicted by the Austrian theory of economic fluctuations. Chapter 3 examines the pure time preference theory. It shows with the help of a simple neoclassical graphical and mathematical apparatus that there is a fundamental flaw in this theory. It suggests that the notions of want and good must be explicitly separated, and it concludes that the time preference as well as the subjective exchange ratio between present goods and future goods may take on any value. Chapter 4 explores the business cycle dynamics in the economy with permanently rising natural output. Simple monetary policy rule that was designed to eliminate economic fluctuations is discussed in detail.

Innovation in mobility: Austrian expert's perspective on the future of urban mobility with self-driving carsAzmat, Muhammad, Schuhmayer, Clemens, Kummer, Sebastian 10 May 2016 (has links) (PDF)
The future of mobility is changing at an exponential rate, as every day passes it moves closer to the goal of complete autonomy, therefore, it is safe to say that the adaptation of self-driving cars in near future is no more a matter of science fiction. Keeping in view the rapid evolution of mobility, this study tries to enlighten and compile the importance of autonomous vehicles in our daily life by highlighting monetary and societal advantages of adaptation. Moreover, it analysis the Austrian expert's opinion on the topic of adaptation of the self- driving cars and business prospects with autonomous vehicles for current businesses. The data on these two questions was collected in a workshop using Delphi method, where experts from varied professional backgrounds participated. But mainly the participants of the controlled group were representatives of public procurement, energy and automobile industry/sector. After a detailed presentation and discussion over the topic, the participants were asked for their views on forth mentioned two questions. Their opinions were recorded and visualized on a custom made graph and further analyzed using the descriptive statistical tool. At the end of the question and answer session a vast majority of experts, which is approximately 80%, thought that there is a good possibility of adaptation of autonomous vehicles in near future. But on the other hand relatively less percentage of experts were confident about the bright future for current businesses in automobile industry; They argued that the current business decorum would change dramatically in a couple of decades and this would be the question of survival of the fittest and smartest.

In his Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus, Wittgenstein seeks to explain the way in which the propositions of language acquire the meaning they express. The approach to this subject, in the framework of the book, assumes the form of an inquiry into the essential nature of representation, since, according to the Tractatus, a proposition expresses a sense insofar as it represents a situation in reality. By offering a theory of the essence of representation, Wittgenstein ultimately states theses about the essential properties of the reality that is represented. At this point, there is a conflict in the secondary literature between the so-called realist and anti-realist readings, which differ on how to conceive such theses. The aim of the present work is to examine this conflict, by explaining the different interpretations put forward by these opposite readings. According to the so-called realist reading, these theses relate to a reality conceived as a domain that is independent of its linguistic representation. One can say that this reading attributes to the Tractatus theses that can be taken as ontological or metaphysical, in the sense that they would state the ultimate properties of an independent reality. On the other hand, the proponents of the so-called anti-realist reading maintain that these thesis relate only to the essential logical order of our systems of representation. Therefore, they refuse that the Tractatus contains theses that could be considered as ontological, since the logical order of language would be the beginning and the end of all Wittgenstein¿s investigations in this work. We will try to outline the main aspects of these two readings, trying to show, if possible, the advantages and disadvantages of each one with regard to their adequacy to the semantic theory developed by Wittgenstein in the Tractatus / Mestrado / Filosofia / Mestre em Filosofia

The diploma thesis focuses on differences in the preparation of consolidated financial statements according to Austrian and Czech legislation. Although the countries are located in the European Union and the legislation of individual countries is increasingly corrected, there are some differences in the preparation of consolidated financial statements according to the legislation of both countries. These differences are explained by selected economic indicators on the results of the consolidation group. The diploma thesis also includes the preparation of a methodological manual for the preparation of consolidated financial statements according to the legislations of both countries, based on information from the user.

Rakouská bezpečnostní politika po roce 1989. Od neutrality k solidaritě / Austrian security policy since 1989. Between neutrality and solidarityŠopík, Michal January 2013 (has links)
The thesis analyses Austrian security policy after 1989. After the end of Cold war new possibilities appeared which changed the concept of neutrality and opened door to new opportunities regarding cooperation, for example in a field of security and crisis management. Apart of this, security threats changed and forced Austria to modify its doctrine of neutrality. Membership in the European Union or in an Eastern Partnership gave new perspectives to the Austrian involvement. Contemporary collaboration with Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe remained if not increased. Home political debate about being a member of EU and NATO showed its limits in a sense that neutrality is still something very essential to Austrian national identity. The next reason for Austria being neutral is simply that does not possess infinite amount of finance or human resources which would let domestic political elite change perception about their state neutrality.

Odpor Rakušanů proti jaderné elektrárně Temelín. Analýza rakouského protijaderného konsensu / Austrian resistance against the nuclear power plant Temelín. Analysis of austrian antinuclear consensusBruna, Petr January 2012 (has links)
At the beginning of the millenium, has the longtime and quite emotional dispute between Czech Republic and Austria concerning the nuclear power station Temelín reached its peak. In my thesis, I am focusing on Austrian antinuclear policy, its genesis and aspects, that aroused it based on the attempt to stop the nuclear power station Temelín from activation. Initially I am observing the historical experience of Austrians, which influenced their attitude toward nuclear power. Antinuclear consensus has gradually developed into a modern national ideology and the most significant milestone on the journey to denucleated state, the referendum of nuclear power in Zwentendorf, has become indulged myth of modern Austrian history. Controversies around nuclear power station Temelin has influenced aspects, that define Austrian political and social live, and these take a large share in relations between the Czech Republic and Austria becoming acute, especially in years 2000-2002. Those aspects, that I introduce as dimensions in my thesis, are following: federal structure of Austrian polical system and frequent independent actions of the heads of the executives of Austrain states with their own interests; party-political dimension, that means the presence of right-winged populist FPÖ in the government from 2000;...

Uzavření rakouského pracovního trhu pro nové členy Evropské unie přijaté v roce 2004 / The Closure of The Austrian Labour Market for New Members of The European Union Adopted in 2004Mudroňová, Marta January 2013 (has links)
The master thesis The closure of the Austrian labour market for new members of the European Union adopted in 2004 is focused on the question of transitional arrangements for the European labour market for new EU members who joined the Community in 2004 and the positions of the various groups, such as political parties and social partners, and the application in the country. Its main thesis is that the closure of the labour market was continuing of selective migration policy of the Austrian Government, which was started back in 90th years of the 20th century. This brought the protection of the labour market with the partial opening for skilled workforce, which reflected the demands of political and interest groups in the country. Next thesis works with this premise in the description and analysis of this issue. In the first place, there is a definition of consociational democracy and social partnership and also outlined the normative order of migration policy in the country, focusing on the labour market. Following this section is also included discussion of transitional periods or shortage of skilled labour in the Austrian labour market. The conclusion summarizes the findings from the above alluded chapters.
