The Changing Role of Planning in Commercial Banks: The Computer and Management Science

Colin, J. W. 08 1900 (has links)
This dissertation examines the relationship between computer technology and management science and changes in the role of profit planning within the commercial banking system of the U.S.A. The objective of the study is to develop a generalized profit-planning model which employs the existing decision processes to create pro-forma financial statements for a commercial bank. The study concentrated on the 300 largest commercial banks (ranked by deposits as of December 31, 1969) of the Federal Reserve System. These particular banks held the greatest potential for having a Planning Department, the computing capability necessary for problem solving, and a Management Science Department actively employing management science techniques to profit-planning problems. The research for the dissertation included an in-depth study of secondary sources, an interrogation of commercial bank executives and a detailed questionnaire which was submitted to each of the 300 largest banks. Sponsorship for the Financial Planning Questionnaire was obtained from the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas. The sponsorship helped obtain a large sample return (in excess of 50.0 percent) and thereby increased the statistical reliability of the results of the study.

COLLABORATION IN BANKING INFORMATION SYSTEMS : INVESTIGATING THE FUTURE OF BANKING SYSTEMS IN INDIA

Abburi, Sridhar, Chinnappan, Ramakrishnan January 2013 (has links)
Banking systems in India is quite popular and it needs some more changes to reach all the customers. Lack of the service is main problem in Indian baking system. If the common person wants to open the account, it take’s little bit high cost and banks are not near the people location. Due to the Lack of service, people do not want to be a customer of the bank. In the research trying to find the solutions for some of the problems to maintain a banking account, we want to provide the maximum time of service in banking systems and to find the better solution for the common persons to use the banking systems. The research idea Collaboration banking information systems are designed to combine all the account information into a system, to provide a better solution for the customer, and to solve all the internal problems in the banking systems. From this new concept we could establish the bank in each and every village, So that we could reach all the customers by providing them a good quality service and exceeding their expectations. The Collaboration systems are less time consuming and it reduces the burden of both the customers and bank employees. Some banks failed due to the lack of customers and the over burden of interest charged by the government. The research idea is to share all the account details from all the banks into a system that is known as collaboration banking information systems. The collaboration banking systems are entirely different and it reduces the cost maintenance of the Indian banking systems. / Program: Magisterutbildning i informatik

資訊系統整合廠商評量模式之研究--以核心銀行系統為例

黃彥穎, Huang, Yan-Ying Unknown Date (has links)
Facing the technology advancement, it is about the time to upgrade the core banking systems built during 1960s and 1970s. The massive variety of banking operation requirements and the IT dependency of critical banking services make the system upgrade transition an enormous burden. This study aims to establish an evaluation model to be used for selecting appropriate system integration vendor of core banking systems. We review the literature and establish an initial model by identifying a group of consideration categories and their included factors. These factors are conformed to real world situations through a case study on a commercial bank at Taiwan. In the following survey, the weight allocation for these consideration factors is to be investigated from the banking community at Taiwan. A questionnaire based on the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) is used to collect the comparative perceptions for the importance of the consideration factors. Through the AHP, the aggregated evaluation weights can be calculated. Based on the perception difference among bank types and manager types, a statistical analysis will be conducted later. The decision-makers may adjust the evaluation weights based on the ad-hoc needs for their banks. The comparative scoring of the evaluated vendors is then calculated based on the evaluation weights. The study contributes to investigate the important consideration factors for core banking systems and establish an evaluation model based on the industry perception. The similar approach can be extended to other information systems evaluation in the future.

Business Activity Monitoring / Business Activity Monitoring

Frühauf, Michal January 2009 (has links)
Main focus of the thesis lies in the corporate management decision support deploying and using IT / ICT. Specific technology described is Business Activity Monitoring. The contribution of the work lies primarily in two planes. The first plane is to create as far as the most comprehensive view of the BAM. The findings are collected from different directions and areas. The first direction of research is focused on the development of Business Intelligence and description of BAM as a trend of BI, including the stages of development and projections into the future. The second direction focuses primarily on a detailed circumscribe of BAM. Its definition, deployment assumptions, basic models, the way how business can benefit from BAM usage. The third guideline shows the classification of BAM surrounded by the other / similar technologies and business solutions -- BI and BSM, and the search key differences. The second level of the work is to support the AML implementation in a specific environment of banks using BAM. This is a practical demonstration of the possibility of using BAM in practice. Basic design solution lies in the analysis of risks arising from the law and the current state of the solution. By mapping of banking processes and searching for points of risk it is then possible to deploy these risks BAM tools for their management. Motion of support lies mainly in conceptual terms.
