La méditation de pleine conscience "Mindfulness" en psychothérapie et son impact sur la santé physique et psychique : vers une nouvelle prise en charge thérapeutique, l'approche MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) / Mindfulness meditation in psychotherapy and its impact on physical and psychological heath : a new therapeutical approach, MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction)

Berghmans, Claude 03 November 2010 (has links)
Enfin, nous amènerons la discussion sur l'efficacité de la pratique MBSR au regard des recherches neurologiques dans un souci futures dans l'intégration en psychothérapie / AIn the feld of the alternative therapy and of the mind body approche, meditation as a new object of research in this aera show a lot of improvment in the last twenty years, with a new development in Europe. The objective of this thesis is to show the great interest of this concept inpsychotherapy with a clarification in its three main areas (concentration, mindfulness, and movement meditation), with a focus on mindfulness meditation linked to the behavioural and cognitive therapies, and with an neurological and physiological highlights. Additionnaly to that, we will develop on a pratical way, the MBSR (Mindfulness based stress reduction) approach linked to the work of J Kabat Zinn (1990) with experimental assessment on stress, anxiety, quality of life, coping and depression on two populations (student and diabetic type 1), and case studies. At the end, we will focus the discussion ont the effectiveness of MBSR linked to neurological researches and integration with psuchotherpies

Results-Based Management in Development Cooperation : A descriptive study of vision and evaluations through a historical perspective

Quell, Sofia January 2016 (has links)
The last half century, there has been a global pressure on increased measuring and presenting of results in the public sector. One of the sectors where the pressure and calls for Results-based management (RBM) has been, and currently is, strong both in Sweden and internationally is within international development cooperation. But, to prove the effectiveness of development cooperation is not a simple task, and hence, the steering signals regarding the management model has been met with some criticism. However, although scholars argue that there have been several waves of pressure for RBM since the early 1970s, the massive amount of criticism seems to have been mainly aimed towards the latest push, in the 2000s. Why is that? This thesis take that question as an analytical starting point, but will not make any causal claims. Instead, it will take on a descriptive design, with an aim to identify any differences between RBM in Swedish development cooperation during the first and the latest push for increased focus on results. The main research question for the thesis is; In what way has the introduction of RBM in Swedish development cooperation been visible over time? The question will be analysed through text analyses to describe both the vision of RBM, as well as the evaluations of Swedish development cooperation during the two pushes for RBM. The study identifies differences on both levels, mostly regarding the aim of the model regarding whom the information is for, as well as significant differences in the ways evaluations have been conducted.

Die implementering van 'n aktiwiteitsgebaseerde kostestelsel in 'n finansiele diensmaatskappy.

24 April 2008 (has links)
This study identifies the various elements and factors that a financial services company needs to consider when implementing activity-based costing. This study evaluates the appropriateness of activity-based costing for financial services and proposes an implementation framework for activity-based costing in this environment. Management, in today’s constant changing and competitive world, needs management information to support strategic and pricing decisions. Traditional financial accounting information sometimes hides the economic reality of client profitability and product costs, and does not supply sufficient information for pricing decisions. This study confirmed that activity-based costing can assist in addressing this problem. Activity-based costing was originally developed for the manufacturing environment. By studying available literature, this study proved that activitybased costing can be used successfully in a financial services environment. A manufacturing environment has a higher direct cost input than a services environment. The cost structure in a services environment allows a higher percentage of cost to be allocated by identifying activities and using cost drivers to allocate these costs to cost objects. Activity-based costing models add value to management by supplying them with information that supports strategic decisions, pricing decisions, understanding client profitability and product costs. This study points out that there are crucial success factors that need to be considered before embarking on the implementation of activity-based costing. Finally the study proposes that activity-based costing be implemented in a financial services environment to support management decision making. / Prof. A.L. Boessenkool

Model based approach to resistive wall magnetohydrodynamic instability control : Experimental modeling and optimal control for the reversed-field pinch

Setiadi, Agung Chris January 2016 (has links)
The primary objective of fusion research is to realize a thermonuclear fusion power plant. The main method to confine the hot plasma is by using a magnetic field. The reversed-field pinch is a type of magnetic confinement device which suffers from variety of magnetohy- drodynamic (MHD) instabilities. A particular unstable mode that is treated in this work is the resistive wall mode (RWM), which occurs due to the current gradient in the RFP and has growth rates of the order of the magnetic diffusion time of the wall. Application of control engineering tools appears to allow a robust and stable RFP operation.A model-based approach to stabilize the RWMs is pursued in this thesis. The approach consists of empirical modeling of RWMs using a class of subspace identification methodology. The obtained model is then used as a basis for a model based controller. In particular the first experimental results of using a predictive control for RWM stabilization are obtained. It is shown that the formulation of the model based controller allows the user to incorporate several physics relevant phenomena along with the stabilization of RWM. Another use of the model is shown to estimate and compensate the inherent error field. The results are encouraging, and the methods appear to be generically useful as research tools in controlled magnetic confinement fusion. /
QC 20170202

Quantile regression with rank-based samples

Ayilara, Olawale Fatai 01 November 2016 (has links)
Quantile Regression, as introduced by Koenker, R. and Bassett, G. (1978), provides a complete picture of the relationship between the response variable and covariates by estimating a family of conditional quantile functions. Also, it offers a natural solution to challenges such as; homoscedasticity and sometimes unrealistic normality assumption in the usual conditional mean regression. Most of the results for quantile regression are based on simple random sampling (SRS). In this thesis, we study the quantile regression with rank-based sampling methods. Rank-based sampling methods have a wide range of applications in medical, ecological and environmental research, and have been shown to perform better than SRS in estimating several population parameters. We propose a new objective function which takes into account the ranking information to estimate the unknown model parameters based on the maxima or minima nomination sampling designs. We compare the mean squared error of the proposed quantile regression estimates using maxima (or minima) nomination sampling design and observe that it provides higher relative e ciency when compared with its counterparts under SRS design for analyzing the upper (or lower) tails of the distribution of the response variable. We also evaluate the performance of our proposed methods when ranking is done with error. / February 2017

Instructors Adoption of a Web-based Learning System at Rajabhat Universities in Thailand: a Study Using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology

Boonsong, Ratchadaporn 08 1900 (has links)
Web-based learning has become an important component of education. Higher education institutions in Thailand have become increasingly aware of the widespread use and effectiveness of web-based learning systems. However, the adoption of such learning systems is growing at a slow pace in Thailand. The purpose of this study was to test the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions have a positive effect on usage intention and adoption of web-based learning systems by instructors, in the Departments of Education at the Rajabhat Universities, Thailand; and to test whether experience of use, age, and gender have moderating effects in the adoption of web-based learning systems there. The research design used in this study was a cross-sectional survey design. Data were collected by means of a self-administered paper questionnaire. The study was conducted among the instructors in the departments of education at the Rajabhat Universities in Thailand. A total of 725 surveys were sent out, 454 questionnaires were returned by the respondents, and 14 were eliminated as outliers; thus, the final data set for the study was 440 samples. The two-step approach of SEM was used to test the model and the study's hypotheses; first, the measurement model was measured to examine the validity and reliability of the data; next, the structural model was measured to test the hypotheses of the study and the fitness of the data to the model. The results of this study revealed several factors that can affect instructors’ adoption of a web-based learning system and which can enhance the web-based learning performance of instructors in the Rajabhat Universities and throughout higher education in Thailand.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for Clients at a University

Byrne, Ciara 11 September 2008 (has links)
Mindfulness-based interventions have been shown to effectively alleviate psychological suffering. The current study compares the effectiveness of a mindfulness-based intervention with an interpersonal support group and a notreatment condition in relieving psychological distress. Participants in this study comprised 112 college students from two universities who contacted the University Counseling Center on their respective college campus to access mental health services. Clients completed written measures at 3 time points; pre- intervention, postintervention, and at 6 months. The overall findings of this study indicate greater reductions over time in the mindfulness-based intervention on measures of anxiety, depression, academic problems, and increase in mindfulness skills compared to the interpersonal support group and no-treatment condition. Conversely, among participants in the interpersonal support group, findings reveal greater reductions in interpersonal problems. Further, results document a positive association between time spent in home mindfulness practice and change in mindfulness skills, and reductions in psychological distress. Mindfulness-based programs may prove to be a time and cost-effective intervention for addressing the needs of University Counseling Centers at a time when there is a shortage of mental health services.

Kompetensförsörjning : Att behålla medarbetare när fler byter jobb allt oftare / Competence-based management : To keep coworkers when indivuduals change their jobs more often

van Es, Jennifer, Viebke, Ninni January 2017 (has links)
In today’s Labor market we can see a trend that more and more individuals change jobs moreoften, an unexplained subject in the field of skills supply. The trend places greater demandson organizations to attract, develop and retain their staff. This paper aims to investigate howthis trend can affect organizations work with skills supply and to find out which factorsorganizations are focusing on to keep their staff. This qualitative study that includes eight small and mediumsized organizations from differentindustries shows that some organizations adapt to the trend while others do not. Somemanagers say that the trend is a alternation, something that you are always supposed to beprepared for. Others say that you loose focus on the actual work if you lay your focus on thetrend and how you risk losing your employees. Another part believes that the trend issignificant and that it is important to take into account. The trend has been shown to influenceseveral industries, and many managers choose to focus more on retaining and developing theirstaff today than before. The study also shows that other factors than wages, such asdevelopment and well-being, tend to be more important in today's labor market.
