Problémy začínajících učitelů na 1. stupni ZŠ / Problems of beginning teachers of primary education

Hellerová, Monika January 2020 (has links)
The main aim of the theoretical part is to introduce difficulties of the teaching profession, such as the problems that are encountered today, when they are available for work and the challenges that they are not prepared for. With the aid of literature, I define the term 'beginning teacher' and I introduce the most common types of problems that arise. Furthermore, I focus on the possible support system for beginning teachers. The empiric part presents the assessment of the results from completed questionnaires and the dialogues with the beginning teachers of primary education. In my prepared and structured questionnaire and dialogue, I focus on the problems, which they might have struggled with or are still struggling with, such as if they feel that university was not able to prepare them adequately for their future job. In addition to this, I aim one's attention to the support system, which was provided to them, if they had an opportunity of a mentor. I am interested in parent's reaction when they found out that the new class teacher of their children is a fresh university graduate. Lastly, if they had a big problem to gain children's authority. The purpose of this study was to understand the difficulties, the challenges and the knowledge of the teachers that teach Mathematics in the first grades in the beginning of their career. The subjects of the research were teachers of initial grades within 5 years of experience, from the private and public network of a city in the state of São Paulo. The data were collected by means of intensive interviews and video recordings. The theoretical referential that served as a basis for this research, involves three axes: beginning of the career, difficulties, challenges and teacher s knowledge. In the process of data analysis, the following categories were privileged: entrée in career, classroom practice, support, school context, teacher s conception and difficulties in relation to education. The studies result showed that some teachers present difficulties while teaching certain contents and not remembering the Mathematics content or the didactic of teaching Math studied at the Didactics course or at teacher training. The teachers point, also, the students indiscipline as a difficulty faced as a challenge for the teachers beginning their careers. Another important finding is in relation to professional development, most worry about taking courses to improve their classroom practice. The lack of support by managers, co-workers and parents was highlighted as one of the aspects that have direct connection with the difficulties faced by the teachers in this career phase and might be an alert to the own teaching system and to the school institutions about their responsibility in relation to this aspect / Essa pesquisa pretendeu aprofundar as discussões sobre o início da carreira dos professores, buscando compreender como enfrentam as situações que se apresentam no cotidiano escolar ao ensinar Matemática.

This present work purposes a comprehension and an interpretation of a specific subject gathered on reading of the works of German philosopher Martin Heidegger, especially in that named Beiträge zur Philosophie: vom Ereignis. This subject was worked in the light of religion philosophy horizon and is called “the leap between the beginnings of thought”. From this subject, we could glimpse the possibility to inscribe the being’s thought in another measurement, which related to the leap. The measurement of the leap is that allows us to do a speech about being, not only from metaphysical philosophy but also shading in other possibility to say the Being truth, His essential event. On horizon of the measurement that oscillates between the same and the other, gathered of the leap between the beginnings of thought speech, the religious dimension is glimpsed through own experience to do a speech about being, that is, about the start from the beginning of thought.

Principal Behaviors That Support First-Year Teacher Retention

Dumler, Carolyn Marie January 2010 (has links)
High attrition during the first few years of teaching is a long-standing dilemma. Research findings vary somewhat according to specific studies, but it is estimated that about 30% of new teachers do not teach beyond two years, and within the first five years of teaching 40-50% leave the profession.Traditionally, discussions of new teacher induction have not considered the role of the school principal as significant (Carver, 2003). However, Brock & Grady (2001) found that beginning teachers identified the school principal as the most significant person in the school, as well as a key source of support and guidance. A recent exploratory case study of the supportive behaviors of four principals resulted in a structural framework of recommended practices (Carver, 2002); however, the importance of those behaviors in the retention of first-year teachers has not been studied. This mixed methods research study examined the relationship between principal support behaviors and the likelihood of first-year teachers remaining in the teaching profession. Q sorts, detailed questionnaires, and follow-up interviews were conducted with first-year and fifth-year teachers.Findings indicated that principal support was important to some first-year teachers in making retention decisions; additionally, specific principal behaviors that have the most influence on the likelihood of first-year teachers remaining in the profession were identified. Analysis resulted in the development of a list of 10 principal support behaviors that are most likely to influence first-year teachers to remain in teaching. These findings could prove beneficial in stemming the attrition rate of new teachers.

A Multiple-Site Case Study of Two University Teacher Induction Programs Using Different Methods of Delivery

Henschel, Molly M 01 January 2016 (has links)
The literature shows that up to 50% of teachers will leave the profession within their first 5 years of teaching (Saka, Southerland, Kittleson, & Hutner, 2013). Although reasons for departure vary, Johnson and Kardos (2005) found schools with high-poverty and high-minority students display excessive rates of teacher turnover. Teacher induction programs were established to assist beginning teachers as they transition into their new professional career in an attempt to increase retention rates. This research aimed to explore beginning teachers from high need schools’ experiences with university-based PLC induction. A total of 23 teachers participated in the induction programs during the 2015 - 2016 academic year. This research provides findings from three different data sources: interview transcripts, surveys, and focus group transcripts. Data was collected to understand beginning teachers’ experience with induction, the types of support offered by the programs, their intentions to remain at their school, and their attitudes towards the method of program delivery. Findings indicate that the majority of the teachers had positive experiences with the two induction programs. Mostly, the teachers felt that induction provided emotional and personal support. According to the novice teachers, administrative support had the largest influence on their intentions to stay or leave their high need schools. As a result, the teachers provided mixed results as to induction’s impact on their decision to stay or leave their current school. Finally, the majority of teachers prefer in-person models to virtual models although there were advantages and disadvantages to both types of programs.
