Thesis deals with impact of financial and economic crisis on all seventeen regions and two cities in Spain. The main purpose of the thesis is to find out, whether the crisis influenced the development of convergence or divergence between Spanish regions. First of all the complete overview of economic development on basis of the most important macroeconomic indicators during ten-year period for each region was done. Afterwards, the statistical method, Cluster analysis, was performed for two different time periods dividing crisis period, which facilitated diagrams capturing regional grouping and their movements during different crisis period. Additionally, the Beta-convergence analysis was performed. Also the Beta-convergence analysis was run in three different time periods, which results revealed nicely the evolution of convergence and divergence be-tween Spanish regions during last ten-years marked by crisis situation.
2	Convergence across the four Central and Eastern European states: Panel Data Approaches Akhmetov, Daniyar January 2010 (has links) The aim of the work is to analyze the convergence in the Czech Republic for the period of 1996- 2006. The paper is based primarily on the Barro and Sala-i-Martin's theories of convergence of sub-national territorial units. The regression results proved assumptions to be realistic. The main model concentrates on a panel data approach that captures the extent to which new transport infrastructure influences within-nation regional convergence. This paper developed a regional approach to evaluate the impact of transport infrastructure, human capital and migration in four Central and Eastern European countries - the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and the Slovak Republic. The aim is to present an overview of the convergence process of the Czech regions between 1996 and 2006. A neoclassical growth model is used as a framework to study convergence across the 14 administrative units of the Czech Republic. Data on gross value added per capita are exploited. 1
3	Vliv finanční krize na konvergenci regionů Spolkové republiky Německo Konvalinová, Vendula January 2017 (has links) This diploma thesis deals with the impacts of financial and economic crisis on thirty-eight NUTS 2 regions of Germany. This includes identifying trends in regional convergence/divergence for the reference period 2004-2013 and determining the probable cause of observed disparities. For this purpose, cluster analysis and beta-convergence analysis are applied and conducted for the periods before and at the start of the financial crisis and during the outbreak of the economic crisis and after its overcoming. The impacts of the crisis on economic development of each region are also investigated by using important macroeconomic indicators.

The diploma thesis focuses on impacts of the economic crisis (2008-2009) on seventeen autonomous communities and two autonomous cities of Spain. beta-convergence analysis and cluster analysis are applied to identify convergence or divergence process among Spanish regions within periods 2000-2007 and 2008-2015. Differences among regions are found out and economic situation is defined by macroeconomic indicators.
5	Konvergence krajů České republiky pod vlivem ekonomické krize Koutný, Jan January 2019 (has links) This diploma thesis examines the influence of the economic crisis from 2008-2009 on the convergence of the regions of the Czech Republic defined at NUTS 3 level. Trends in region convergence are identified based on the beta convergence and sigma convergence analysis using panel data from 2002-2015. Subsequently are discussed the reasons for the observed differences and the consequences of unequal economic development in the regions for private companies that are located or are operating in the regions.

Rybanová, Soňa January 2011 (has links) This dissertation poses the question of whether there is a relationship between the speed of convergence of globalisation and the speed of convergence of GDP per capita. Firstly, the concepts of globalisation and real convergence and their relationship are thoroughly explained from both the theoretical and empirical point of view. And secondly, the answer to the question comes in the form of beta and sigma convergence analysis of this relationship. Thirdly, the analysis splits the countries into two groups (developed and developing countries) and finds interesting but ambiguous results in their comparison. Finally, in order to correctly interpret the results of absolute and conditional beta and sigma convergence, their theoretical and empirical overview is discussed in depth. The dissertation concludes by providing some answers to the initial question for every particular analysis. Namely, it shows that this relationship is indeed very ambiguous.
7	Měření ekonomické výkonnosti regionů / Mesuring of economic performance of regions Pešl, Dmitrij January 2016 (has links) The aim of this diploma thesis is to cover the catching up with the economic level among the countries of middle and eastern Europe. More accurately it analyses GDP per capita and household income per capita as one of the key economic indicators. The thesis concretely focuses on analysis of beta and sigma convergence and cluster analysis of the mentioned regions and concurrently at the background of the analysis explains some theoretical terms from areas of economics, econometrics and statistics. The analysis was concluded in IBM SPSS programme which belongs to the most complex, user friendly and professionally often used expert tools. The data for the analysis were used from Eurostat.
