Main aim was to design a functional and timeless design using modern technologies. Recumbent tricycle was designed with the fairing and tilting mechanism to easily corner, with innovative solution of turning which makes easier to mount and dismount recumbent tricycle. The work was solved by design, technical and ergonomic side also includes other aspects of the design.

Intrinsic factors, performance and dynamic kinematics in optimisation of cycling biomechanics

Kinematic measurements conducted during bike set-ups utilise either static or dynamic measures. There is currently limited data on reliability of static and dynamic measures nor consensus on which is the optimal method. The aim of the study was to assess the difference between static and dynamic measures of the ankle, knee, hip, shoulder and elbow. Nineteen subjects performed three separate trials of a 10min duration at a fixed workload (70% of peak power output). Static measures were taken with a standard goniometer (GM), an inclinometer (IM) and dynamic three dimensional motion capture (3DMC) using an eight camera motion capture system. Static and dynamic joint angles were compared over the three trials to assess repeatability of the measurements and differences between static and dynamic values. There was a positive correlation between GM and IM measures for all joints. Only the knee, shoulder and elbow were positively correlated between GM and 3DMC, and IM and 3DMC. Although all three instruments were reliable, 3D motion analysis utilised different landmarks for most joints and produced different means. Changes in knee flexion angle from static to dynamic are attributable to changes in the positioning of the foot. Controlling for this factor, the differences are negated. It was demonstrated that 3DMC is not interchangeable with GM and IM, and it is recommended that 3DMC develop independent reference values for bicycle configuration.

Exploring bicycle equity and justice in Boston, MA

This paper investigates how bike advocates in Boston understand and express concerns about bike justice. The study analyzes the distribution of bike infrastructure and resources across Boston neighborhoods with varying socioeconomic conditions and racial/ethnic representation. Additionally, the study examines how procedural justice practices are integrated into the decision-making process for bike infrastructure expansions, and how community engagement is involved in bike policies and programs. Using a mixed methods approach, the study analyzes the distribution of bike infrastructure in relation to demographic data and conducts semi-structured interviews with city officials, nonprofit organizations, and grassroots organizers. The results of the study reveal that bike justice goes beyond the mere expansion of bike lanes and other bike resources; bike justice extends to education and training programs as well as community building and engagement. These programs aim to create a sense of belonging for marginalized cyclists and promote procedural justice through incorporating marginalized voices in decision-making processes. These insights have important implications for the development of just and sustainable transportation systems that can meet the needs of diverse communities.

Cities today typically have goals for sustainability and accessibility, with improving cycling accessibility being one of the most emphasized objectives. Cities can achieve their goals by having a well-built infrastructure for cycling. This study focuses on the cycling infrastructure in Stockholm city and conducts an analysis based on the city's various accessibility objectives. The purpose of the study is to examine if the city has a high accessibility through bike lanes, also, how far cyclists can travel on the existing cycling infrastructure and which areas in the city have the best accessibility via bike paths. To perform the analysis, bike path data is imported into the ArcMap program. Various functions of the program are used to analyze both the efficiency of cyclists in reaching their destinations and whether it is possible for cyclists to reach their desired destinations. The results show that Stockholm city has a well-functioning cycling infrastructure, allowing cyclists to travel in different directions and to various locations, even over longer distances. The analysis also reveals that areas with primary schools have a higher coverage of bike lanes, indicating that areas including services generally have better accessibility through bike lanes.

Durch steigende Rohölpreise werden alternative Antriebsmöglichkeiten zu Verbrennungsmotoren gesucht, ein aussichtsreiches Konzept ist die Elektromobilität. Elektromotoren werden nicht nur bei Automobilen eingesetzt sondern auch bei Fahrrädern, zum Beispiel bei Pedelecs. In der vorliegenden Arbeit werden verschiedene Möglichkeiten für die Optimierung der Reichweite dieser Fahrräder untersucht. Dafür wird zuerst ein vereinfachtes Modell für ein Pedelec hergeleitet, mit dem die benötigte Energiemenge für eine vorgegebene Strecke errechnet wird. Auf Grundlage dieser Berechnung werden im zweiten Teil verschiedene Optimierungsmethoden untersucht. Anschließend wird die Implementierung einer Optimierungsmethode vorgestellt. Zum Abschluss erfolgt eine Diskussion der Ergebnisse, eine kurze Zusammenfassung und ein Ausblick auf zukünftige Aufgaben.

Major cycling events, prominent racers, organizers and founders of a mountain bike section in Vimpersko should appear in the work. The main aim of this work is to investigate and record the arrival of a mountain bike in Vimpersko from 1989 to the present. Partial objectives include recording the main characters associated with the emergence of mountain bike races and a section in Vimperk and linking the topic with the history of cycling in the Czech Republic. The main method of work is the historical method enriched with interviews with the main actors of mountaine biking in Vimpersko.
