Previous issue date: 2014-08-29 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / This work is about research done Fibonacci's Numbers. Initially it presents a brief
account of the history of Leonardo Fibonacci, from his most famous work,The Liber
Abaci, to the relationship with other elds of Mathematics. Then we will introduce
some properties of Fibonacci's Numbers, Binet's Form, Lucas' Numbers and
the relationship with Fibonacci's Sequence and an important property observed by
Fermat. Within relationships with other areas of Mathematics, we show the relationship
Matrices, Trigonometry and Geometry. Also presents the Golden Ellipse
and the Golden Hyperbola. We conclude with Tribonacci's Numbers and some properties
that govern these numbers. Made some generalizations about Matrices and
Polynomials Tribonacci.
Realizamos
algumas generalizações sobre Matrizes e Polinômios Tribonacci.

The relation between vocabulary and mental age of a rural white populationUnknown Date (has links)
Study conducted with 63 rural school children, as measured by the Revised Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale. Since size of vocabulary is considered to be a relatively valid measure of intelligence and correlates to a high degree with the mental age obtained on the Biney scale, it is concluded in accordance with the results of this study, that the test as a whole may be considered a valid measure of the mental ages of rural school children. However, since the cases used in this study were taken from a limited population, the results are not to be considered conclusive, but due to the high correlation obtained, a need for further study is indicated. / "A Paper." / "Submitted to the Graduate Council of Florida State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science." / "February, 1951." / Typescript. / Advisor: Marcus B. Previous issue date: 2010-06-16 / Since they were created, psychological tests have been used in different contexts to
support decisions that affect the life of many people. If they are to be used properly, it is
critical to know both their underlying theoretical assumptions and their limitations. This
thesis aims to bring to light such assumptions and to demonstrate that psychological
tests , as a generic label, is not suited for the broad array of psychological assessment
techniques available today. Based on the work of Pierre Bourdieu, who considers
scientific knowledge as a social activity and the conformation of scientific fields as
stemming from the configuration of the forces that conform it in a given historical
period, this thesis investigates the trajectory of Alfred Binet and Francis Galton, two
important actors of the psychological assessment field, considering the personal, social
and historical context of their work, and the influence of their contributions to the
subsequent conformation of this field. The differences between projective techniques
and psychometrical tests are highlighted and the implications of considering both as
psychological tests for the conformation of the psychological assessment field in
Brazil, today, are discussed. A few issues regarding the education of qualified
psychologists for the proper use of these techniques are also considered / Desde sua criação, os testes psicológicos têm sido usados em diferentes contextos,
instrumentos do exame psicológico existentes.

Les néomalthusiens français et les sciences biomédicales (1880-1940) / The French neo-Malthusians and bio-medical sciences (1880-1940)Hello, Eric 09 December 2016 (has links)
[...] / Neo-Malthusianism is a line of thought which gathers education specialists, doctors, anthropologists and women's and anarchist activists. Its reflexion and its actionhave a political, economic and scientific dimension. Its project is to deeply transformhuman societies through birth control in order to reach a better social organisation, likelyto meet human beings’ legitimate aspiration for happiness. The means implemented toreach this goal are the generalisation of contraceptive prophylaxis, which includescontraceptive methods and abortion. The neo-Malthusian movement was particularlyactive in France, from the 1890ies to the eve of World War II. It has also met with strongopposition and was actively fought, noticeably after World War I. Observing the number ofbirths, neo-Malthusianism points how incompatible the exponential increase of births iswith the possibility for the members of a given community to have what they need to reachhappiness. Hence, French neo-Malthusianism is inseparable from eugenics, which is acentral theme in the history of this movement, from its emergence to its last developmentsin the 1930ies. The objective of the present work is to draw a new and previouslyunpublished synthetic portrait of this movement, focussing on its link to bio-medicalsciences and scientific culture. [...]
