[pt] O presente trabalho tem como objetivo investigar questões acerca do fenômeno esquizoide, principalmente, sua origem, características e alguns desdobramentos na vida psíquica do indivíduo. Para isso, será utilizada a teoria das relações objetais primitivas, com o apoio das formulações teóricas de Fairbairn, Guntrip e Winnicott. As principais contribuições desses três autores serão relacionadas, através do desenvolvimento de uma linha de pensamento que engloba as questões da cisão tripartite do ego de Fairbairn, o retraimento esquizoide segundo Guntrip e a divisão entre verdadeiro e falso self proposta por Winnicott. / [en] This study aims to investigate matters over the schizoid phenomenon, particularly its origins, characteristics and how it unfolds in one’s psychic life. To do so, we have chosen the early object relations theory, with the support of the theoretical formulations led by Fairbairn, Guntrip and Winnicott. The main contributions by these authors will be related through the development of a line of thought involving the matters of the tripartite ego splitting by Fairbairn, Guntrip’s schizoid retreat and the division between the true and false self as proposed by Winnicott.

O embasamento teórico-crítico de tal análise consiste dos ensaios críticos de Wilde ‗The Truth of Masks' (1885), ‗The Decay of Lying' (1889), ‗Pen, Pencil and Poison' (1889) e ‗The Critic as Artist' (1890), que foram posteriormente compilados em seu livro Intentions (1891). O presente estudo tem seus alicerces em minha dissertação de mestrado intitulada Oscar Wilde: teoria e prática, defendida em abril de 2011. Nessa dissertação, a peça The Importance of Being Earnest foi analisada sob essa mesma ótica e permitiu a compreensão da coerência entre a teoria e a prática de Oscar Wilde, uma vez que, nos resultados que foram obtidos, pode-se perceber que os elementos estruturais da peça, bem como seus elementos linguísticos, contêm veios estéticos profundos. Dessa maneira, o trabalho aqui desenvolvido averigua se a transposição da teoria em prática se dá em toda a composição dramática de Wilde ou se The Importance of Being Earnest é apenas um caso específico e isolado. Uma vez provada que a coerência wildeana se mantém, foi instaurado, então, um questionamento sobre a medida em que sua composição dramática está associada às suas próprias ponderações estéticas / This doctoral thesis proposes that all the plays written by Oscar Wilde (1854 - 1900), namely Vera or, The Nihilists (1880), The Duchess of Padua (1883), Lady Windermere's Fan (1892), Salomé (1892), A Woman of No Importance (1894), An Ideal Husband (1895) and The Importance of Being Earnest (1895), can be analysed according to the aesthetic theoretical perspective of which Wilde was one of the major exponents. The theoretical basis for the analysis is to be found in Wilde's critical essays, ‗The Truth of Masks' (1885), ‗The Decay of Lying' (1889), ‗Pen, Pencil and Poison' (1889) and ‗The Critic as Artist' (1890), which were later published in Intentions (1891). The present study has its foundations in my MA dissertation, Oscar Wilde: teoria e prática, concluded in April 2011. In that work, Wilde's play The Importance of Being Earnest was analysed from the same perspective, which made it possible to perceive the consistency between Oscar Wilde's theory and practice, as the results proved that both the structural and the linguistic elements of the play contain deep aesthetic features. The work developed here is thus intended to verify whether the transposition from theory to practice occurs in Wilde's dramatic work as a whole, or whether The Importance of Being Earnest is a specific and isolated case. Since it was possible to demonstrate that Wilde's plays are indeed consistent with his aesthetic principles, the study goes on to investigate the extent to which his dramatic composition may be associated with his own aesthetic precepts

[pt] O presente trabalho identifica e compara aspectos culturais e linguísticos inseridos em relacionamentos amorosos entre brasileiros e britânicos, a partir de duas categorias sugeridas pelo interculturalista Geert Hofstede: individualismo e masculinidade; e da categorização de Richard D. Lewis da cultura brasileira como multiativa e da cultura britânica como ativo-linear. O objetivo desse estudo é o de entender melhor como esses relacionamentos interculturais se dão, seus desafios, seus sucessos, investigando qual a influência da cultura e da língua nessas relações. Para nossa análise, utilizamos dados gerados por meio de entrevistas e questionários realizados com dez casais - todos formados por um/a brasileiro/a e um/a britânico/a envolvidos em um relacionamento amoroso. Entre os nossos resultados, identificamos os seguintes elementos que influenciam a relação desses casais: (i) o papel da mulher na relação; (ii) ciúmes, traição e dependência emocional; (iii) linguagem verbal, não verbal e estilística; e (iv) o lugar que o casal escolhe para viver. Portanto, esta pesquisa sinaliza os desafios encontrados pelos casais interculturais e apresenta sugestões, dadas pelos próprios informantes, para entendermos essas diferenças e tentarmos evitar que elas interfiram de maneira negativa nos relacionamentos de mesmo tipo. Por meio desse estudo, esperamos evidenciar a importância de se trabalhar esta temática em sala de aula, dando mais subsídios e embasamento teórico aos professores de PL2E, para que possam mostrar aos alunos de português a importância de se entender não só a língua como, principalmente, a cultura do outro, e contribuindo, assim, para o desenvolvimento das competências comunicativa e intercultural dos aprendizes. / [en] The present work identifies and compares cultural and linguistic aspects inserted in love relationships between Brazilians and Britons, from two categories suggested by the interculturalist Geert Hofstede: individualism and masculinity; and Richard D. Lewis s categorization of Brazilian culture as multiactive and British culture as active-linear. The objective of this study is to better understand how these intercultural relationships are given, their challenges, their successes, investigating the influence of culture and language on these relationships. For our analysis, we used data generated through interviews and questionnaires conducted with ten couples - all formed by a Brazilian and a British person involved in a loving relationship. Among our results, we identified the following elements that influence the relationship of these couples: (i) the role of women in the relationship; (ii) jealousy, betrayal and emotional dependence; (iii) verbal, nonverbal and stylistic language; and (iv) the place the couple chooses to live. Therefore, this research indicates the challenges encountered by intercultural couples and presents suggestions, given by the informants themselves, to understand these differences and try to avoid them interfering in a negative way in relationships of the same type. Through this study, we hope to highlight the importance of working this theme in the classroom, giving more subsidies and theoretical background to the teachers of PL2E, so that they can present to Portuguese students the importance of understanding not only the language but, mainly, one s culture, and thus contributing to the development of the communicative and intercultural competences of apprentices.

O texto de referência para a pesquisa é a seção VIII da Investigação sobre o entendimento humano. Mostro, a partir do estudo dessa seção, em que sentido os conceitos de liberdade e necessidade são compatíveis para Hume. Para tanto, analiso o compatibilismo humeano enfatizando a unidade explicativa que o autor esposa claramente na obra citada. De fato, Hume, em seu exame das noções de liberdade e necessidade anuncia introduzir novidades que prometem ao menos algum resultado na decisão da controvérsia entre a doutrina da necessidade e a doutrina da liberdade (da vontade). Ele propõe um 'projeto de reconciliação¿ (reconciling project) que consiste em mostrar que liberdade e necessidade são perfeitamente compatíveis entre si, e que afirmar que as ações humanas são livres não é afirmar que estejam fora do âmbito da necessidade, mas apenas que se realizaram sem constrangimento. Em seguida, esclareço as razões que conduzem à crença na vontade livre, crença esta infundada, segundo Hume. Por fim, procuro estabelecer as conseqüências que o compatibilismo humeano traz para a noção de responsabilidade moral. Hume entende que não só é perfeitamente possível explicar os juízos morais pelo seu compatibilismo, como também que o seu compatibilismo é a única alternativa de fato consistente para dar conta dos ajuizamentos que fazemos acerca da moralidade. Entendo que a explicação dos juízos morais de imputabilidade oferecida por Hume representa uma hipótese altamente persuasiva e com vigor suficiente para responder a objeções geralmente apresentadas pelos incompatibilistas / Abstract: The dissertation examines the analysis of Hume of the concepts of freedom and moral imputability. The text of reference for the research is section VIII of the Enquiry concerning Human Understanding. I show, from the study of this section, how freedom and necessity are compatible for Hume. To this effect, I analyze the humean compatibilism emphasizing the unit of the explanation that the author maintains in the cited work. Hume, in his examination of freedom and necessity, announces a new approach that promises at least some results for the decision of the controversy between the doctrine of the necessity and the doctrine of the freedom (of the will). He proposes a conciliatory project that consists in showing that freedom and necessity are perfectly compatible, and that to say that the human actions are free is not to say that they are out of the scope of the necessity, but only that they are without constraint. After that, I clarify the reasons that lead to the belief in free will, which is baseless according to Hume. Finally, I establish the consequences that humean compatibilism brings for the notion of moral responsibility. Hume understands not only that it is perfectly possible to explain moral judgments by means of his compatibilism, but also that his compatibilism is the only consistent alternative to account for moral judgement. I understand that the explanation of moral judgments of imputability offered by Hume represents a highly persuasive hypothesis, and strong enough to answer the objections generally raised by incompatibilists / Mestrado / Filosofia Moral / Mestre em Filosofia
