The master thesis deals with a problematic of brownfield´s regeneration and reuse in relation to the issue of sustainable development. The aim of the thesis is to analyze and create a proposal for the brownfield´s regeneration in the former Kohn´s brick factory in Brno. The proposal of the regeneration should be based on the analysis of HABU, which leads to the highest and the best possible use of any property. The analysis includes the detailed knowledge about the brownfield´s site and their demarcation in the urban planning documents of the city of Brno. According to the proposal of the brownfield´s regeneration, there will be four investment options. They will be distinguished through their time horizon of the investment valorization. Each investment option will be thoroughly reviewed. Option with the biggest valorization will be recommended for the potential realization

The residential area in Brno - Červený kopec is multifunctional new part of the city of Brno. Urban development based on the Žlutý kopec and Veveří. Historically, the studied area is located at the brickyard Kohn, who is now a brownfield site. The idea was to create a readable and clearly definable urban structure in relation to the proposed road network. The core area is dense five-storey mixed-use residential buildings with commercial parterre, which makes maximum use of space and brings order to the scattered houses in the area.

Tato disertační práce se zaměřuje na problematiku investování a podporu rozhodování pomocí moderních metod. Zejména pokud jde o analýzu, hodnocení a výběr tzv. brownfieldů pro jejich redevelopment (revitalizaci). Cílem této práce je navrhnout univerzální metodu, která usnadní rozhodovací proces. Proces rozhodování je v praxi komplikován též velkým počet relevantních parametrů ovlivňujících konečné rozhodnutí. Navržená metoda je založena na využití fuzzy logiky, modelování, statistické analýzy, shlukové analýzy, teorie grafů a na sofistikovaných metodách sběru a zpracování informací. Nová metoda umožňuje zefektivnit proces analýzy a porovnávání alternativních investic a přesněji zpracovat velký objem informací. Ve výsledku tak bude zmenšen počet prvků množiny nejvhodnějších alternativních investic na základě hierarchie parametrů stanovených investorem.

Content of this thesis is analysis of possibilities for generation brownfield and searching for the best option for realization of regeneration. Thesis contains theoretic part, where brownfield problematic in Czech Republic is explained, their environmental burden, subsidy possibilities for regeneration, then price problematic and evaluation of properties and also not the last in the range - territorial planning documentation and change in purpose of usage. These terms are further used for solution of thesis practical part, where two possibilities for brownfield´s regeneration of former agricultural property are solved. First option is already realized - project of brownfield´s regenerace, which is now being used for purpose of „Mikropodnik Lupenice“ as melting house for non-ferous metals, and another option of solution is demolition of houses in areal and sale of lands equiped by needed technical network system and traffic infrastructure for building-up family houses. As output information is comparison these two options and choice of the best evaluation of Lupenice´s brownfield.

Auf die Automobilindustrie wirken unterschiedliche Kräfte und eine Vielzahl weiterer Einflüsse. Das Auftreten von Veränderungen im Unternehmensumfeld, die eine Reaktion auf Ebene der Produktionszahlen bedürfen wird zunehmend kurzfristiger. Die bestehenden automobilen Fabriksysteme sind zu starr, um auf den hoch dynamischen Weltmarkt angemessen reagieren zu können. Ansätze zur Verbesserung der Ausgangslage für bestimmte Abschnitte wurden bereits erarbeitet und in einigen punktuellen Pilotanlagen umgesetzt. Zur Erfüllung der immer komplexeren Anforderungen in der Materialflusstechnik bedarf es jedoch einer Optimierung als Gesamtsystem, um eine Durchgängigkeit der Veränderlichkeit zu gewährleisten. Im Rahmen der vorliegenden Untersuchung wird ein solch ganzheitlicher Ansatz entwickelt. Dafür werden zunächst die Herausforderungen in der Weltwirtschaft und der Automobilindustrie im Speziellen analysiert. Einen besonderen Themenschwerpunkt bilden dabei die verschiedenen Ebenen der Veränderlichkeit. Mit der Ableitung von Prämissen unter Beachtung der gestellten Anforderungen kann eine Ordnung verschiedener Fördertechnologien erfolgen. Darauf bauend wird ein Modell entwickelt, das als Leitfaden zur Erarbeitung eines flexiblen Materialflusssystems für zukünftige Automobilproduktionen dient. Um dem Anspruch der fabrikübergreifenden Anwendbarkeit des Modells Rechnung zu tragen, erfolgt im letzten Schritt die Modellvalidierung anhand einer Fahrzeug-Fertigung in einem Brownfield-Werk.

Redefining Maputo downtown : flood management through a sustainable landscape architecture intervention

“All countries are vulnerable to climate change and instability in weather patterns but the poorest countries and the poorest people within them are most vulnerable, being the most exposed and having the least means to adapt” (IMF and World Bank Development Committee, 2006). African cities, as other cities around the world, are prone to flooding within in urban areas. The increased flooding from climate change, could have seriously destabilising effects for Africa (Commission for Africa, 2005). Climate records shows that most of Africa warmed by approximately 0.7°C during the twentieth century (IPCC Working Group II, 2001). Future changes in rainfall will depend greatly on the influence of global warming. In addition, a United Nations World Water Report states that in the beginning of the twenty-first century, the Earth with its diverse and abundant life forms (including over six billion humans), is facing a serious water crisis. Water needs to be conserved in any way possible. (United Nations World Water Report, n.d.). This study aims to explore the role in which floodingin urban landscapes can be addressed, but simultaneously stored for future use. It argues that the negative element of flooding can rather be used, i.e the water could be conserved and used in the build environment, rather than inhibiting social, economic and ecological factors. The pilot project in this stage can at the same time, serve as an urban generator. An innovative solution (urban water park) is analysed and tested and serves as a possible outcome to address flooding problems within an African city (Maputo, Mozambique). Die ontwerp poog om die huidige negatiewe element van water eerder te bewaar en die gebruik daarvan te aan te moedig. The thesis is the result of qualitative field-research, based on semi-structured interviews and observations in the former Prague slums Pod Bohdalcem and Na Slatinách. The research reflects competing visions of various stakeholders with regards to the future development of these last almost fully preserved colonies, which were created for- and by the poor. The thesis also reconstructs and monitors the development of the conflict that arose between the inhabitants of the colonies and the urban planners in the course of the creation of the study "Bohdalec-Slatiny- Brownfield Strašnice", which proposes a new city-district in the area of the former colonies. It further captures the main reason for the dispute, namely the different perceptions of the colonies by its inhabitants and the institutions responsible for urban planning. For the first actor the area in question means 'home', as well as a place with rich history, while for the second it represents mainly a lucrative brownfield. The thesis also compares often incompatible visions of the stakeholders. It further describes signs or strategies of resistance that the inhabitants manifested from the beginnings of the colonies to the present day. The diploma thesis is the proposal of the pilgrimage church with the addition of the second functional unit as the pilgrimage area near to the stream „Svatá voda – Kaménka“. The proposal claims to raise former pilgrimage area and natural element, and also to provide spiritual and psychological support to pilgrims/visitors. For that reason, there are provided residential programs in the area. The building program corresponds to demanding enter and capacity. Capacity of the church is up to 250 people, in the main liturgical space on the ground floor. The growth is possible on the gallery on the second and third floor. Areal also including restaurant, lecture hall and spiritual centre. That works on a spiritual stay program for singles or couples. There is also a meditation garden and parking lot aloof.
