Casa de Oswaldo Cruz. Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brasil. / João Capistrano de Abreu (1853 – 1927) viveu as grandes transformações da história do Brasil na passagem do Império à República. Não somente isto, o autor se deparou com diversas interlocuções que abriam inúmeras possibilidades quanto à disputa pela hegemonia do saber histórico. Desde a sua juventude, Capistrano circulou pelo cientificismo característico de fins do século dezenove. Na sua formação entrou em contato com autores como Henry Thomas Buckle (1821 – 1862), Hippolyte Adolphe Taine (1828 – 1893), Herbert Spencer (1820 – 1903) e Auguste Comte (1798 – 1857). Na interlocução com os autores do Velho Mundo, Capistrano tinha em mente a formação do caráter nacional, questão essencial para os intelectuais do seu tempo no jovem império brasileiro. Alguns temas que se colocaram nesses primeiros diálogos tiveram longa permanência na historiografia construída por Capistrano ao longo de sua vida, ainda que, com o passar dos anos, sofressem transformações em sua abordagem. Outras questões abraçadas pelo autor na juventude foram posteriormente descartadas na medida em que o historiador travava contato com novos autores dentro e fora do Brasil, e também com a documentação histórica. Dentre os temas que poderiam ser tomados como permanências na obra do historiador foram: a importância do elemento indígena na formação do caráter nacional, igualmente a relevância do meio físico na formação do brasileiro, a concepção da humanidade única frente à visão racialista do ser humano e a produção artística e cultural como representação da sociedade que a origina. Algum tempo após deixar a sua terra natal, o Ceará, e instalar-se na corte imperial, Capistrano entrou em contato com a vasta documentação referente ao Brasil colonial e, paralelamente, com autores ligados à história cultural e ao historicismo alemão, tais como: Leopold von Ranke (1795 – 1886), Friedrich Ratzel (1844 – 1904) e Eduard Meyer (1855 – 1930). A sua produção seria profundamente afetada por tais experiências; o que não caracterizaria, contudo, um tipo de “conversão” a novos paradigmas, posto que os temas mais caros ao estudioso e ainda as suas mais profundas crenças continuariam presentes em seus escritos. No entanto, enriquecidos e com maior sofisticação do que sob a ótica cientificista que o atraiu em sua juventude. A maneira pela qual o autor se constrói como profissional do campo da história concomitantemente com a construção da História Pátria é questão central no desenvolvimento deste trabalho. Para tal, faz-se imprescindível na análise a interlocução de Capistrano com os autores clássicos do seu tempo, sem perder de vista, contudo, o diálogo que mantinha com seus pares brasileiros, a rede de troca de documentações históricas da qual se valia em seus estudos históricos, a sua vinculação às instituições como o IHGB - Instituto Histórico e Geográfico Brasileiro - e a Biblioteca Nacional, e, ainda, além das experiências pessoais que fizeram parte de seu vivido. / This paper deals with João Capistrano de Abreu (1823 – 1927), who lived at a time of many changes in Brazilian history, as it was the passage from Monarchy to Republic. Moreover, he was in touch with a great number of different dialogs, which opened many possibilities of the History he intended to do. Since his youth, Capistrano had been in contact with the subjects of the scientism of the late nineteenth century. In this period he was in touch with the production of authors as Henry Thomas Buckle (1821 – 1862), Hippolyte Taine (1828 – 1893), Herbert Spencer (1820 -1903) e Auguste Comte (1798 – 1857). In the interlocution with the authors of the Old World, Capistrano had in his mind the construction of the character of the Brazilians, with was a kind of essential question to the intellectuals of the young Brazilian Empire. Some subjects present in those firths dialogs were also present in the historiography that Capistrano constructed during his long life, albeit with different approaches over the years. On the other hand, other subjects present in the studies of his youth had been disposed along the way, as he came in contact with new authors from Brazil or from abroad, so as the contact with the documentation over the national history. Some subjects that would be taken as permanent in the work of Capistrano de Abreu were: the Brazilian Indians as essential to the construction of a national character, so as the environment for the configuration of the Brazilian society, the conception of the unity of Mankind facing to the concepts of different races and thinking the artistic and cultural production as a representation of the society in which they were conceived. After some time that he moved to the Imperial Court, he was also in touch with writers from German historicism and cultural history such as: Leopold von Ranke (1795 –1886), Friedrich Ratzel (1844 – 1904) e Eduard Meyer (1855 – 1930). Certainly his intellectual production was affected by those news experiences. However it doesn’t mean a kind of “conversion” to new paradigms, since the essential themes and the deepest principals of his early writings was preserved in his historiography at that time. Albeit, more elaborated and in a sophisticated way. The trajectory of this historian, how he made himself as a historian in parallel of his production of the history of Brazil is the central question of this paper. For that the main point was to bring light to the interlocutions of Capistrano de Abreu and some classics writers of his time. Notwithstanding, other subjects made part of the argumentation as: the dialog with the Brazilian intellectuals, the network of changing historical documents that he used in his research, his linking to institutions as IHGB – Brazilian Historical and Geographical Institute - or to the National Library and also the personal experiences of his life.

The present work intends to analyze the comments that the historians made on their common readings, trying to comprehend which kind of appropriations they get from their shared books. Furthermore, it presents some features of production and distribution of their work and the applied publishing and divulgation strategies as well. / O objetivo desta pesquisa é analisar os processos de leitura e escrita da história expressos na correspondência trocada entre os historiadores Capistrano de Abreu e João Lúcio de Azevedo entre os anos de 1916 e 1927. Ambos participaram ativamente do campo intelectual, respectivamente, no Brasil e em Portugal. O presente trabalho propõe-se a analisar os comentários que os missivistas faziam sobre suas leituras, numa busca de apreender que tipo de apropriações eles faziam desses livros partilhados, e expor algumas das condições de produção e circulação das suas obras, bem como as estratégias de publicação e divulgação das mesmas.

So far the history of medieval Franciscan Observance has been considered as the history of individual monasteries, or more generally as the history of disputes concerning education, culture and nationality. The aim of the present dissertation is to describe the history in terms of cultural history, to analyze wider issues of architecture regarding monastic buildings of the last big monastic community of The Middle Ages, to describe them and evaluate. The basic structure of the dissertation consists of monographic chapters monitoring the history and building development of fifteen preserved and thirteen extinct monasteries in territory of the Czech monastic province (Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia and Upper Lusatia). The catalogue part is introduced by chapters summarizing the historical context of Franciscan Observants' activities within a short period between the second half of the 15th century and the first half of the 16th century, during which the Observants of the Czech province experienced both the stage of raise and decay. The history of the order is then followed by an essay on the rules of the process of foundation constructions of the convents, the order rules limiting artwork and mainly the character of the order architecture. The subject hereof is the study of the Capistrano de Abreu State School s History in the 20th Century, which is located in the city of Guarulhos, State of Sao Paulo, Brazil. It encompasses a description of said School's origins within the period of 1913-1950. Further, its subject matter of study is the so-called Cartilha Sodré (Sodré Primer), by virtue of its importance in teaching basic literacy to the students of said Elementary School, in the Brazilian Republic age. This essay s general purpose is to recover documents of the organization of the first Elementary and Secondary School of the city of Guarulhos, which has to be filed and documented, because they make part of such city's Educational Historic Heritage. Particularly, to: 1) examine the School s heritage as regards its management in the period of 1913-1950, by means of documents, alumni s testimonies, and informal conversations, with the purpose of supplementing possible gaps of this research; 2) recover the School's memorial, since its origins, within the period defined in this essay; 3) describe and analyze Cartilha Sodré, i.e., Sodré Primer, aiming at understanding the method and the process used to teach basic literacy. This research is grounded on the theoretical presuppositions of the Linguistic Ideas History. As regards the purposes hereof, the results achieved by reading material of its heritage pointed out that both the School s Management and alumni took part, or still take part of Guarulhos distinguished citizens. In addition, new information and records were found, like the very name of Cartilha Sodré, which was relevant to teach basic literacy during said period, and also to form Guarulhos citizens. Therefore, the purposes were satisfactorily achieved. The methodological procedure used was the theoretical-descriptive and deductive, for the steps followed were efficient to guide the search for answers. Notwithstanding the above, it can be concluded that this research has to continue, because the investigation carried out focused only a period of the Education History in the city of Guarulhos / Esta Dissertação situa-se na linha de pesquisa da História e Descrição da Língua Portuguesa. Tem, por tema, o estudo da História da Escola Estadual Capistrano de Abreu, em Guarulhos, no século XX, a descrição das origens dessa Escola, entre os anos de 1913 a 1950 e, por objeto de estudo, a Cartilha Sodré, por sua importância na Alfabetização dos alunos dessa Escola primária, na época da República. O objetivo geral desta pesquisa visa resgatar documentos da instituição do primeiro Grupo Escolar de Guarulhos, material a ser registrado e documentado, por pertencer à Memória da História da Educação dessa cidade. Especificamente: 1) examinar o acervo da Escola com relação ao corpo diretivo, no período de 1913 a 1950, através de documentos, depoimentos de ex-alunos e conversas informais, com a finalidade de complementar as possíveis lacunas desta pesquisa; 2) resgatar o memorial da Escola, em suas origens, no período delimitado para a pesquisa; 3) descrever e analisar a Cartilha Sodré, com a finalidade de conhecer o Método e o Processo utilizados na Alfabetização. Esta investigação está alicerçada por pressupostos teóricos da História das Idéias Lingüísticas. Quanto aos objetivos, os resultados obtidos pelas leituras do acervo apontaram que tanto a Direção quanto ex-alunos fizeram e/ou fazem parte da cidadania ilustre do Município, além de serem encontradas novas informações, registros, como o nome da Cartilha Sodré, relevante na Alfabetização, na República, na formação dos cidadãos guarulhenses. Logo, os objetivos apresentados foram cumpridos, satisfatoriamente. O procedimento metodológico utilizado foi o teórico-descritivo e dedutivo, sendo que os passos seguidos foram eficazes no direcionamento da busca por respostas. Não obstante, pode-se concluir que esta pesquisa precisa ter continuidade, pois a investigação realizada foi centrada em um período da História da Educação de Guarulhos
