It is the purpose of this dissertation to reveal Gerard Manley Hopkins as an incarnationist and sacramentalist, and to show how these doctrines manifested throughout his poetry affected the entire scope of his verse and completely colored his attitude toward life-- toward his own existence and that of his fellow man, and especially toward natural phenomena.

This figure is present not only in his book published in Spanish Mira-Coeli and in the Portuguese version Anunciação e Encontro de Mira-Celi, but in every poetic work of Jorge de Lima subsequent to them. The present work aims to investigate what this reference figure, and if it has in it its own reference, what it represents in the field of human experience. For that, it was related to the construction of the work studied, a poetic work, with the accomplishment of a musical work, since music is also a kind of language that has its own reference in itself. In the work, it is stated that this process of signification is a way of representing what, in Aristotelian-Thomist psychology, is called a volitional appetite and it is concluded that the figure of Mira-Celi has the function of stating the purity of will and consciousness in the midst of earthly dramas / É possível enxergar ao longo da obra de Jorge de Lima, principalmente após o que a crítica recorrentemente chama de “fase católica”, a presença da figura de uma mulher mística, objeto de amor da voz que fala no poema. Essa figura está presente não apenas no seu livro publicado em espanhol Mira-Coeli e na versão portuguesa Anunciação e Encontro de Mira- Celi, mas em toda obra poética de Jorge de Lima posterior a eles. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo investigar o que essa figura referencia, e, se ela tem em si sua própria referência, o que isso representa no campo da experiência humana. Para tanto, foi relacionada a construção da obra estudada, uma obra poética, com a realização de uma obra musical, poisa música também é uma espécie de linguagem, mas que, diferente da linguagem verbal, tende a autoreferenciar-se. Neste trabalho está colocado que esse processo de significação é um modo de representar o que, na psicologia aristotélico-tomista, é chamado de apetite volitivo e conclui-se que a figura de Mira-Celi tem a função de por em cena a pureza da vontade e da consciência em meio aos dramas terrenos.

The work in question will discuss the importance of Jorge de Lima for National poetry and the Catholic aspect of it, from that, and for that, we will confront biblical and poetic moments along a specific select chosen to illustrate the body of the dissertation / O trabalho dissertativo que apresentamos, o qual intitulamos de Notas biográficas e metáforas religiosas na poesia de Jorge de Lima teve início com a produção do compêndio e fortuna crítica que escrevemos ainda no latto sensu, onde tínhamos como principal preocupação a análise de diversos textos críticos sobre a obra jorgiana. The thesis analyzes and interprets selected landscape motifs corresponding with biblical symbols in the first three collections of poetry of catholic author Václav Renč. The aim of this thesis is to give an opinion on my hypothesis that biblical symbol is a competent way of interpretation Bremond's pure poetry, and to evaluate the competence of Renč's poetry belonging to the concept of pure poetry. Also defining the limits of pure poetry through a comparison with the fourth Renč's collection which already shows significant changes in it's poetics. The theoretical part is focused on contemporary and modern literary-scientific views on Václav Renč's work, on the concept of poetry provided by Bremond, his reception in our backround and the role of the symbol in pure poetry. The thesis methodologically works with the symbol in connection with Zdeněk Mathauser's theory of a circle symbol that best corresponds with Bremond's understanding of poetry and is considered as the essential base of the theory of pure poetry. The practical part discusses the crucial landscape symbols (earth, flower and fruit, bush and tree) in single collections based on biblical interpretation and then describes their transformation in each of them. The work deals with the motif of a woman in the works of Jakub Deml. It starts by presenting some necessary facts and events of his life. In the main part, it tries to identify the basic archetypes of feminity in Deml's works, focusing especially on the Marian Cult, that strongly influences the transformation of living persons into supra-personal and symbolical ones. In the final analysis, the question of whether the motives of archetypal women are really dominating or whether they just mirror the poet's spiritual search and fight is adressed. The purpose of this thesis is to examine methods, forms, and processes for presenting the lives and work of the Czech catholic poets Jan Zahradníček, Bohuslav Reynek, and Josef Kostohryz during high-school literature lessons. Furthermore, the objective is to propose ways of introducing the young generation of readers to catholic poetry as a source of existentialist questions pertaining to life and existence, deep personal experiences, and spirituality regardless of their individual religious beliefs and preferences. Since this thesis is primarily intended to serve as a tool for high-school teachers, the text contains an extensive section that describes the general aspects of the proposed didactic approach, where the aim is to facilitate orientation in the proposed concept on the one hand, and, on the other hand, to define the foregoing aspects because they constitute the basis of the concept. The concept chosen as a means for achieving the objectives of the thesis is based on the principles, teaching methods, and forms of innovative learning.
