Organizace neziskového kulturního projektu / fotografické výstavy / The Organization of a Non-profit Cultural Project – a Photographic Exhibition

Müllerová, Barbora January 2012 (has links)
This Thesis deals with the organization of a non-profit cultural project -- a photographic exhibition. It is based on the theory of project management and arts marketing, which is compared with the experience of Jan Foltán, an experienced organizer of such exhibitions. The Thesis is divided into seven chapters; the first one presents the person himself, his work and experience which forms the practical part of the following chapters. In the second chapter, I present the principles of project management, which form the theoretical ground of the Thesis. Another chapter is devoted to marketing of a cultural project where the emphasis is on Public and Media Relations. Part of that chapter is also devoted to the organization of openings of exhibitions and charity auctions of art works. The research of factors that influence the attendance of artwork exhibitions is also included in this chapter. An important part of PR and funding is sponsoring, the importance of which is evident from the chapter on financing. The fifth chapter deals with the realization of exhibitions including theme selection, ensurance of locations, logistics, and schedule. The following section is devoted to the connection of cultural projects with charity and human motivation to help others through their work. The last chapter deals with branding of artists; thus creating their brand which is also another very important part for ensuring the attendance at the exhibitions.

Milosrdné sestry sv. Karla Boromejského na příkladu vybraných ústavů sociální péče v letech 1948-1989 / The Sisters of Mercy of St. Borromeo on example selected institutions of social care 1948-1989

Pavlíček, Josef January 2021 (has links)
The thesis The Sisters of Mercy of St. Borromeo on example selected institutions of social care 1948-1989 is focused at three institutions of social care for mentally handicapped persons, in which The Sisters of Mercy of St. Borromeo worked during the communist régime. The aim of the work is not only to compile the history and development of the three researched institutes of social care from the available primary sources but also to analyze and compare the information found in the conclusion. In the final analysis, we follow mainly the beginnings of individual institutes, then the lives of sisters and inmates in all examined institutes, and in the end we focus on the termination of the work of nuns in individual institutes. The first of the examined places is the institute of social care in Hrabice, where nuns worked from 1949 to 1989. The second of the researched institutes was located in the years 1953 to 1983 in the village of Komorní Lhotka. The third research institute was located in the town of Česká Kamenice, where nurses worked there from 1953 to 1980. All three constitutions are connected by their position, they were located in remote places or in places where there was no strong religious community. Although the beginnings of individual institutes and communities of nurses were...

Philanthropic corporate social responsibility as a tool for achieving socio-economic rights in South Africa

Obisanya, Temitope Ayomikum 18 May 2017 (has links)
LLM / Department of Mercantile Law / Scholarship on the subject of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) highlights its four components: economic, legal, ethical and philanthropic responsibility. In South Africa, while the economic, legal and ethical components of CSR are regulated and attract punitive measures for erring corporations who fail to adhere to such demands, the application of the philanthropic aspect of CSR is problematic. The application of philanthropic responsibility suffers normative, institutional and accountability deficiencies in South Africa. Hence, corporations do not conscientiously direct philanthropic responsibility towards achieving core socio-economic needs of their host communities. In the light of international human rights standards relevant to CSR, this research attempts to examine domestic laws which regulate the practice of CSR in South Africa and advance how the philanthropic aspect of CSR can be developed to achieve the realisation of socio-economic rights, in particular, the rights to access to health care, water and social security, education, housing and clean environment. The argument is made that through the formulation and application of an appropriate legal framework, philanthropic CSR can play a contributory role to the realisation of socio-economic rights recognised under the 1996 South African constitution. The implications are that in appropriate cases socio-economic rights do not only bind the state and consequently apply to the "vertical" relationship between individuals and the state, but could also apply "horizontally", in respect of the relationship between private entities. This is a controversial issue and its full implications have not yet been resolved.

PR v neziskových organizacích / Public relations in NGOs

Hrabětová, Lea January 2017 (has links)
Hrabětová, L., Public relations in non-profit organizations. Diploma Thesis. Prague: Charles University in Prague, 2017. The thesis aims to develop a methodology PR for smaller non-profit organizations. PR analysis was carried out in a non-profit organization Charity Opava, which fulfills its mission, and its activities shows that PR function can improve the organization's image and provide a solid foundation for fundraising and marketing activities. Without a functional PR is the systematic implementation of fundraising activities elusive. I formulated a methodology based on the information gathered from semistructured interview with Ivo Mludek which has a PR of Charita Opava in chargé, from his lecture on PR for organizations working in social services in Charity Jesenik dated 20 of October 2016 and analysis of publicly available documents . Keywords: non-profit organizations, public relations in non-profit organizations, fundraising, cause-related marketing, Charity Opava, PR tools

Přínos systému DekaCert pro charitativní práci / The Meaning of the DekaCert System for Charity Work

Hojná, Kateřina January 2019 (has links)
The accompanying organisations established by the various churches, such as Charity of the Czech Republic, have their own specific system of values and specific managerial aims. They, however, employ people regardless of their religious practice or their being or not being a member of a church or religious societies. The aim of the thesis is to ascertain whether a system of ethical values, namely the DekaCert system, is a suitable tool to enhance the feeling of freedom and the level of loyalty of the non-practising Christian Charity employees. The thesis thus tries to answer the question whether training in the DekaCert system and its practical use helps these employees to identify themselves with the Charity and at the same time to achieve the second managerial aim of Charity, which is to fulfil the commitment to the church. The thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter describes the specifics of leading a Charity; it explains the notions of freedom and loyalty. The second chapter focuses on the core of ethical values and the DekaCert system. The third chapter is experimental and it tries to ascertain the influence of DekaCert system on the feeling of freedom and the level of loyalty of non-practising Christian employees in Charities. The main research method was a qualitative...

Etika filantropie / Ethics of Philanthropy

Kroupa, Jan January 2020 (has links)
Charles University Faculty of Humanities Applied Ethics Ethics of Philanthropy Annotation of Doctoral Thesis Mgr. Jan Kroupa Supervised by: prof. PhDr. Jan Sokol, CSc., Ph.D. 2020 ANNOTATION The increase in private wealth in our cultural circuits has been unprecedented which fosters growth in private philanthropy. Charitable giving has been on a rise throughout the western world, including the Czech Republic, where we can document long-term and steady growth in both the number of charitable gifts as well as in the amount donated. In parallel, on the beneficiary side, there is a stabilized sector of well-established civic organizations covering the standard array of charitable topics. We may state that following 1989, the Czech civic sector has been revived, showing - despite all challenges - most signs of healthy maturing. In this paper, we attempted to capture the cultural and social context of philanthropy from the point of view of practical philosophy. We examined the rich roots of philanthropy and described the processes of its institutionalization until now. We paid special attention to describing the current situation of philanthropic giving in the Czech Republic. On basis of the above, we debated some of the dilemmatic questions of today's philanthropy, such as selecting the beneficiary and donor...

Služby ve jménu dobra Rotary kluby v České republice / Services in the Name of Good Rotary Clubs in the Czech Republic

Holas, Jakub January 2014 (has links)
The thesis analyses the motives of charity and its various forms in the present society. It builds on the critical theory of "studying up", formulated by Laura Nader in 1970s. It considers the difficulties of ethnographic research in an unequal-power terrain, where the anthropologist finds himself in an unwelcome position. Based on a one-year long research of Rotary clubs, the thesis examines the question of whether the charity is a pure act of altruism, following of self-interest, or a combination of both. Charity has lost its significance from its original Christian form over time. Today, it takes the form of a successful marketing tool. For someone it may mean caring for the disadvantaged, for another a simple tool to ease his conscience; for others a convenient pretext for the setting up of a private club. Charity in some respect replaced the Christian confession and like other commodities in the neoliberal system is consumed without creating a long-term relation between the donor and the donee. Rotary International is a worldwide network of private clubs, among its members are leaders in the financial sector, health care, public administration, journalism and science and research. One can therefore examine the Rotary club from an anthropological point of view of emerging capitalism in the...

Svenska högskolestudenters attityder till välgörenhets Second Hand : I relation till Fast Fashion / Swedish college students’ attitudes towards charity Second Hand

Andrén, Victor, Kantling Karlsson, Felicia, Östling, Mikaela January 2020 (has links)
Purpose: The purpose of the study is to create an understanding of Swedish college students’ attitudes towards charity Second Hand through Fishbein's multi-attribute model. Attitudes towards Fast Fashion have also been measured in the model to enable a comparison between the two objects. This is to gain a broader knowledge of the attitudes that could motivate Swedish college students to consume Second Hand rather than newly produced. Design/Methods: The study is written based on a quantitative approach where data collection has been conducted with a survey that concerns Second Hand and Fast Fashion. This in order to have the opportunity to compare the two objects with each other in the analysis. The study aims to create an understanding of Swedish college students' attitudes, based on Guiot and Roux (2010) and Ferraro, Sands and Brace-Govan's (2016) motivational perspective, towards charity Second Hand. Two questions have been formulated to answer the purpose of the study. These concern attitudes and motivational perspectives towards the charity's second hand. The analysis is based on a theoretical framework based on Fishbein's multi-attribute model. Results: The results of the study show that Swedish college students’ tend to have different attitudes towards the charity Second Hand, depending on how continuously they consume fashion from the secondary market. This because of the importance of the attributes environment and unique / original that is better appreciated by the college students who continuously consume Second Hand. The students have in common that they believe that price and atmosphere in stores are the two most important elements when consuming fashion. The study discuss how well Second Hand and Fast Fashion relate to these expectations for a consumer experience. Finally this study contributes with increased understanding of Swedish college students’ attitudes towards charity Second Hand. However, the knowledge is limited due to a smaller selection. The study also contributes with reflections on how the industry can increase its attractiveness. In order to gain a better understanding of the students’ attitudes, further research with a qualitative approach is recommended. This study is written in Swedish.

The Rhetoric of Philanthropy: Scientific Charity as Moral Language

Klopp, Richard Lee 05 1900 (has links)
Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) / To take at face value the current enthusiasm at the idea of marshaling science to end human social ills such as global poverty, one could easily overlook the fact that one hundred fifty years prior people were making strikingly similar claims as part of a broad movement often referred to as “scientific charity” or “scientific philanthropy”. The goal of this dissertation is to contribute to our knowledge of the scientific charity movement, through a retrieval of the morally weighted language used by reformers and social scientists to justify the changes they proposed for both public and private provision of poor relief, as found in the Proceedings of the Annual Assembly of the National Conference of Charities and Corrections (NCCC). In essence I am claiming that our understanding of the scientific charity movement is incomplete, and can be improved by an approach that looks at scientific charity as a species of moral language that provided ways to energize the many disparate and seemingly disconnected or even contradictory movements found during the period under study. The changes enacted to late 19th century philanthropic and charitable structures did not occur due to advances in a morally neutral and thus superior science, but were born along by a broad scale use of the language of scientific charity: an equally moral yet competing and eventually more compelling vision of a philanthropic future which held the keys to unlock the mysteries of poverty and solve it once and for all. When viewing scientific charity as something broader than any particular instantiation of it, when pursing it as a set of languages used to promote social science’s role in solving human problems by discrediting prior nonscientific attempts, one can begin to see that the reformist energies of late 19th century social thinkers did not dissipate, but crystalized into the set of background assumptions still present today.
