Report of the 2018-2019 Research and Graduate Affairs Committee

O'Donnell, James M., Anand, Sridhar, Brown, Stacy D., Fuji, Kevin T., Guy, R. Kiplin, Kawaguchi-Suzuki, Marina, Meier, Kathryn E., Nelson, Cassandra E., Vyas, Ami, Block, Kristen F., Farrell, Dorothy F. 01 December 2019 (has links)
The 2018-2019 Research and Graduate Affairs Committee (RGAC) was charged with critically evaluating the leadership development support necessary for pharmacy researchers, including postdoctoral trainees, to develop the skills needed to build and sustain successful research programs and analyzing how well those needs are being met by existing programs both within AACP and at other organizations. The RGAC identified a set of skills that could reasonably be expected to provide the necessary foundation to successfully lead a research team and mapped these skills to the six domains of graduate education in the pharmaceutical sciences established by the 2016-2017 RGAC (Table 1). In addition, the RGAC identified competency in team science and the bench-to-bedside-to-beyond translational spectrum as being critical elements of research leadership. The universality of these skills and their value prompted the RGAC to make two related recommendations to AACP

[en] THE IMPACT OF BASEL III LIQUIDITY REQUIREMENTS ON BANK LIQUIDITY MANAGEMENT / [pt] O IMPACTO DOS REQUERIMENTOS DE LIQUIDEZ DA BASILÉIA III NA GESTÃO DE LIQUIDEZ BANCÁRIA

RAFAEL RIBEIRO MADEIRA DA SILVA 11 April 2018 (has links)
[en] This paper analyzes the impact of Basel III liquidity requirements on banks liquidity management. Indicators of bank liquidity were defined based on the practices used in the economic literature and that seek to serve as proxies to the indicators proposed by the Committee. Database was built including banks from all countries that are signatories to the Basel III Committee. The timelines for implementation of the new liquidity requirements established by each country were then verified. The evolution of the liquidity indicators before and after the new liquidity requirement established by the Committee was followed. A statistically significant elevation was observed in short-term liquidity proxies. On the other hand, the result of the regressions that seek to follow the evolution of long-term liquidity showed statistically significant declines.

Le principe de non-discrimination à l'épreuve des rapports entre droits européens / The principle of non-discrimination in the context of the relations between European laws

Brillat, Manuela 10 December 2014 (has links)
Also perceived as an ideal, equality finds its legal incarnation in the non-discrimination principle. When examined through the European prism, it reveals its full meaning in terms of difficulties, but also of potential, for the relations between the two main European legal systems : the Council of Europe and the European Union. The European Court of Human Rights, the European Committee of Social Rights as well as the Court of Justice of the European Union, behind the apparent similarity displayed, harbour different realities, thus underming the non-discrimination principle and weakening its key role in the defence of European human rights law. In order to restore its full effectivness, this principle should be redefined, bearing in mind that its interpretation cannot change from one European legal system to another. This major challenge leads to the analysis of the exact implications, for Europe, of the cornerstone function played by the non-discrimination principle.

[en] MANAGEMENT OF HYDROGRAPHIC BASINS: AN INSTITUTIONAL ANALYSIS OF THE GUANDU S COMMITTEE OF BASIN FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE INSTITUTIONAL SUSTAINABILITY / [pt] GESTÃO DE BACIAS HIDROGRÁFICAS: UMA ANÁLISE INSTITUCIONAL DO COMITÊ DE BACIA DO GUANDU SOB A PERSPECTIVA DA SUSTENTABILIDADE INSTITUCIONAL

ADILSON PIO DA TRINDADE JUNIOR 18 September 2018 (has links)
[en] With approximately 13 percent of the surface water resources of the planet, Brazil still suffers from supply problems in their main cities, and the major reasons are: the location of springs in relation to population served and degradation of water bodies in these areas. Currently over 50 percent of the world population lives in urban areas, and the expectation is that by 2050 reaching 70 percent (UN-Habitat, 2008). Although it is not exclusive of the cities are especially them, these problems have higher impacts, and therefore turn out to be aggravated from a trend of the 21st century: the concentration of population in urban centers. Meanwhile, cities gradually became the focus of environmental debates, due to its increasing expansion, result of the displacement of populations who seek them the infrastructure, facilities and opportunities not found in rural areas. This way the sustainability of urban areas is emerging as one of the challenges to be faced by all of society, and more specifically in the case of water resources in Brazil by its governing bodies, watershed committees that are formed by representatives of organized civil society, government and users. Brazilian law regarding the environment was structured from the opening policy in the late 70s. So from this new conjecture, environmental legislation gradually set up, and with regard to water resources there were two notable moments: the definition of water as a public good by the Federal Constitution of 1988 and the creation of the Federal Policy of Water Resources, by law 9433/97. By instituting the watershed committees as responsible for the management of river basins, began a new phase in water management in Brazil.
