Ce travail s’attache à étudier les conséquences qu’ont eu les contacts entre Britanniques et populations amérindiennes sur le mode de vie de ces deux populations dès leur première rencontre. L’idée reçue veut que seuls les Britanniques aient laissé (et lourdement) leur empreinte sur le sol et les peuples qu’ils ont rencontrés à leur arrivée sur le nouveau continent. Or le sujet est ici plutôt celui d’une influence réciproque dans une certaine mesure, au vu de données archéologiques, historiques et ethnohistoriques. Les angles d’étude choisis sont les habitudes et comportements liés directement ou non à l’alimentation (comment se procuraient-ils leur nourriture, comment la cuisinaient-ils, la partageaient-ils, quels liens sociaux découlaient de ces procédés,… ?), les différences culturelles et les rapports aux autres (autres tribus, colons originaires d’autres nations européennes…) qu’ils soient amicaux ou hostiles, diplomatiques ou économiques. / This study investigates the consequences that contacts between British people and Native American populations had on their respective ways of life. There is a widespread cliché in people’s minds according to which only British people would have had (heavily) left their marks on the North American ground and peoples that they encountered. Nevertheless, and contrarily to this idea, we shall tackle here their reciprocal influence, that is the way in which Native tribes also deeply impacted British colonists’ everyday life in the New World. We were able to witness such an influence thanks to archaeological, historical and ethnohistorical evidence. Various angles of study were chosen for this paper: the cultural habits and behaviors directly or indirectly linked to food (how did people have access to food supplies? How were foodstuffs prepared or cooked? Were food and/or meals shared? Which social links and practices -if any- derived from such habits?...). We shall also have to present to the audience what Native people’s connections and attitudes towards other tribes, or colonists from different European nations, were. And these could have been friendly, diplomatic, economical or even hostile relationships, implying political management and thinking ahead of taking actions, which was commonly omitted in the past.

La dégradation géométrique de la voie ferrée sur les Lignes à Grande Vitesse (LGV) est un phénomène qui entraîne des coûts de maintenance importants pour assurer une qualité de circulation et de sécurité. Cette dégradation géométrique est imputable, en partie au tassement de la couche de ballast qui constitue l'une des parties de la voie ferrée.Le tassement du ballast est un phénomène difficile à estimer et à prédire car sa nature granulaire et ses caractéristiques particulières entraînent des variabilités de ses propriétés mécaniques. Ce travail de thèse est consacré à l'étude du comportement mécanique du ballast, pour le développement d'un modèle prédictif du tassement sur voie ferrée à partir de la caractérisation mécanique initiale du matériau (grâce à l'utilisation du pénétromètre léger Panda) et des sollicitations auxquelles la voie est soumise. Grâce à l'étude paramétrique développée sur un banc d'essais à échelle réelle, nous avons constitué et validé un modèle de prédiction qui est basé sur une loi de relaxation logarithmique.La modélisation numérique par éléments discrets en utilisant la méthode de la Dynamique des Contacts permet d'étudier les propriétés mécaniques du matériau ballast à l'échelle des grains. L'analyse des déformations transitoires montre une dépendance claire de la déformation moyenne par rapport à la contrainte appliquée et au rapport d'aspect en raison de l'action du frottement aux frontières. Les fluctuations de ces déformations, sont très importantes et semblent évoluer avec la déformation moyenne. Finalement, la pertinence de la caractérisation du ballast à partir de l'essai Panda a été vérifiée à partir d'une étude paramétrique sur les mécanismes d'enfoncement grâce à l'utilisation de cette approche numérique discrète. / Railway track degradation on high-speed lines is a phenomenon which causes high maintenance costs to ensure quality traffic and safety.This geometric degradation is due in part to the vertical strain (settlement) of the ballast layer, which compose the track.The ballast settlement is a difficult phenomenon to estimate and predict because its granular nature and characteristics of this layer induces variability of its mechanical properties.This work is devoted to the study of the mechanical behavior of ballast, to develop a predictive model of track settlement from the initial mechanical characterization of the material (by means a light penetrometer Panda) and the loading on track. By means several test on a full-scale model of railway track, we established and validated a predictive model based on a logarithmic relaxation law. Numerical modeling by discrete element method using the Dynamic Contacts allows to study the mechanical properties of ballast at grain-scale.Transient deformation analysis shows a clear dependence of the average deformation with respect to the stress and aspect ratio as a result of the frictional feedback at the boundaries. Fluctuations of these deformations are significant and seem to evolve with the average deformation. Finally, the relevance of the ballast characterization using the Panda test has been verified by means a parametric study on mechanisms during the penetration process by discrete element method.

A travers notre étude, nous avons voulu mieux comprendre la nature, ainsi que l'impact, des contacts culturels entre le Levant nord (région comprise entre la côte syro-libanaise et la vallée de l’Oronte) et ses voisins au Bronze moyen. L'analyse d'une partie du mobilier céramique, métallique, rocheux, osseux et vitreux - issu d'une trentaine de sites archéologiques du Levant nord - a permis de mettre en évidence diverses influences iconographiques mais également technologiques provenant essentiellement de la région méditerranéenne (d'Egypte, d'Anatolie et du Monde égéen) et de Mésopotamie. La multiplication des échanges diplomatiques et commerciaux a rendu possible la circulation des biens et des personnes ainsi que la transmission de savoir-faire et de procédés techniques méconnus jusqu'alors des artisans levantins nord. Nous assistons à cette période à un véritable essor des artisanats tels que la métallurgie, la faïencerie et l'ivoirerie. / This study aims to understand contacts, and their impacts, between North Levant (area situated between the syro-lebanese coast and the Oronte valley) and his neighbors during the Middle Bronze Age. The analysis of the ceramics, metallic productions, stone, bony and vitreous items - coming from thirty archaeological tells of North Levant - revealed various stylistic and technological cultural influences from Mediterranean's area (from Egypt, Anatolia and Aegean world) and Mesopotamia. The multiplication of diplomatic and commercial relationship promotes people and good's movement but also permits transmission of expertise and manufacturing process unknown by North Levantine craftsmen. This period is characterized by a real progress of metallurgy, faiences and ivory crafts.

Les pieds d’aubes de soufflantes de turboréacteurs font face à des sollicitations de type fretting. Il en résulte deux types d'endommagements: (i) l'amorçage et la propagation de fissures, (ii) l'usure des surfaces en contact. OBJECTIF: Afin de fournir les outils permettant de répondre à la problématique industrielle, une méthode semi-analytique permettant de traiter des problèmes de contacts élasto-plastiques revêtus et/ou hétérogènes est développé à partir d'éléments existants et de solutions analytiques et numériques novatrices. METHODE: La structure est simplifiée en supposant un contact entre deux massifs élastiques semi-infinis. Des solutions analytiques donnant pour: + les contributions élémentaires de chargements normaux et tangentiels constants sur une surface rectangulaire + les contributions élémentaires de déformations plastiques supposées constantes sur un volume parallélépipédique + les contributions élémentaires de déformations d’incompatibilité liées à un problème hétérogène (inclusions, revêtements, endommagement,...) supposées constantes sur un volume parallélépipédique. >> les déplacements en surface ou les contraintes dans le volume. Les déplacements en surface ou les contraintes dans le volume sont alors exprimés en utilisant des produits de convolution discrets entre des coefficients d'influence et la source surfacique (chargements en surface) ou volumique (déformations plastiques ou d'incompatibilité). Le problème normal et le problème tangentiel en glissement total ou en glissement partiel peuvent alors être résolus, en prenant en compte les effets plastiques et hétérogènes. L'algorithme d'optimisation sous contrainte utilisé (contact elastique) est celui développé par L.Gallego tandis que la base du solver plastique utilisé a été développé par C. METHOD: The structure is simplified by assuming two semi-infinite elastic solid in contact, and analytical solutions for: + Contributions of elementary normal and tangential loads constant over a rectangular area + Contributions of elementary plastic strains constant on a parallelepiped + Contributions basic incompatibility of deformations related to a heterogeneous (inclusions, coatings, damage ,...) constant on a parallelepiped. >> on surface displacements and stresses in the volume. Surface displacements and stresses in the volume are then expressed using discrete convolution products (2D or 3D-FFT) between the coefficients of influence and the surfacic (loading surface) or volumic (plastic deformation or inconsistency) source. The normal and tangential problems in both the gross-slip and stick-slip regime can be solved, taking into account the effect of plasticity and heterogeneities. The contact algorithm used (elastic contact) has been developed by L. Gallego while the base of the plastic solver has been developed by C. Jacq (frictionless elastic-plastic contact) RESULTS: New analytical solutions are given for calculating the residual tangential displacements.

La présence d'eau sur la route affecte l'adhérence des pneumatiques. Un film d'eau s'interpose entre le pneumatique et la rugosité du sol routier entraînant d'abord une perte de l'adhérence par adhésion provenant du contact direct gomme-sol. Ensuite, la réduction de la déformation de la gomme induit une diminution de l'adhérence par indentation. C'est ce second aspect qui sera étudié. Le film d'eau génère une portance par un phénomène de lubrification qui diminue la déformation du pneumatique et ainsi son adhérence. Cette étude est basée sur une théorie prédisant la diminution de l'amplitude de la rugosité en fonction des propriétés des surfaces et des conditions de contact. L'équation de Reynolds est résolue par des techniques de calcul efficaces. La viscoélasticité est implémentée dans les calculs de contact sec et lubrifié. L'objectif de cette étude est de proposer un modèle de prédiction de la diminution de l'adhérence d'un pneumatique sur sol mouillé. La meilleure compréhension du contact permettra d'améliorer le choix du matériau composant les bandes de roulements des pneumatiques. / Water presence on road affects tyre friction. A water film interposed between tyre and road asperities results first in a loss of adhesion friction coming from the direct contact between rubber and road. Then, the rubber deformation reduction leads to a diminution of the hysteretic friction. This study focuses on this last topic. The water film generates a hydrodynamic force by a lubrication phenomenon which decreases rubber deformation and friction. This study is based on a theory which predicts roughness amplitude reduction as a function of surface properties and contact conditions. Reynolds equation is solved using efficient computing methods. Viscoelasticity is implemented in dry and lubricated calculations. The aim of this research is to suggest a predictive model of the tyre friction decrease on wet roads. A better understanding of the contact will enable to improve the tyre tread material design.

Mechanism of viral immunostimulatory signal transmission from infected cells to plasmacytoid dendritic cells / Mécanisme de transmission de signal viral immunostimulateur des cellules infectés aux cellules dendritiques plasmacytoïdes par contacts cellulairesAssil, Sonia 16 December 2016 (has links)
Les cellules dendritiques plasmacytoides (pDCs), spécialisées dans la réponse antivirale, produisent de fortes quantités d’interféron (IFN) lorsqu’elles sont en contact avec des cellules infectées par des virus. Pourtant, les pDCs sont réfractaires à l’infection. Ce mécanisme d’activation de la réponse antivirale par le contact physique avec les cellules infectées, nouvellement découvert, constituerait un aspect général des voies de défense de l’hôte contre les virus.En utilisant le virus de l’Hépatite C et de la Dengue comme modèle viral, nous avons observé une réorganisation moléculaire au niveau des contacts entre les pDCs et les cellules infectées. La polarisation d’éléments cellulaires, notamment de régulateurs du cytosquelette d’actine et de molécules de la machinerie d’endocytose en direction du contact favoriserait son établissement et/ou sa stabilisation ainsi qu’une transmission efficace d’éléments viraux, ensuite reconnus par les pDCs. Nous avons également démontré que les pDCs effectuent des contacts plus stables et présentent une polarisation plus importante d’éléments cellulaires aux contacts avec des cellules infectées qu’avec des cellules non infectées. Ces interactions présentent des similarités avec les synapses, contacts cellulaires organisés impliqués dans la communication cellulaire. Notamment, les synapses immunologiques jouent un rôle important dans l’activation de la réponse immunitaire adaptative. Nous proposons donc de nommer ces contacts activateurs de pDCs des « synapses immunologiques innées ». Ce mécanisme représenterait un processus de reconnaissance des infections par les pDCs généralisable à différents types de virus, par « scan » du statut infectieux des cellules par contact. Nos résultats suggèrent également que des éléments viraux s’accumulent au niveau de ces contacts. Ces éléments diffèrent en fonction du type d’infection. Notamment, nous avons mis en évidence dans un contexte d’infection par le virus de la Dengue que des structures virales non canoniques et non infectieuses, différentes des particules virales infectieuses dites « classiques », jouent un rôle important dans l’activation de la réponse antivirale. Notre travail apporte un nouvel angle d’analyse de l’activation des pDCs et des stratégies de détection des infections virales par l’hôte. / Plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs), specialized in the antiviral response, are important producers of interferons (IFN) after cell-cell contacts with virally infected cells. Nonetheless, they are poorly permissive to the majority of viral infections. This newly uncovered mechanism of the activation of an antiviral response by physical cell-cell contacts with infected cells could constitute a general aspect of the host defense against viral infections.Using Hepatitis C virus and Dengue virus as models, we observed a molecular reorganization of the contacts between pDCs and infected cells. The polarization toward contacts of cellular elements, such as regulators of the actin cytoskeleton and components of the endocytic machinery could favor their establishment and/or their stabilization, as well as the efficient transmission of viral elements that are recognized by pDCs. We also demonstrated that pDCs contacts with infected cells are more stable and present a higher polarization of cellular components than contacts with uninfected cells. These interactions present similarities with synapses, a type of organized contact involved in cell-to-cell communication. Notably, immunological synapses are known to play an important role in the activation of the adaptive immune response. We thus propose to call these pDC-activating contacts « innate immunological synapses ». This mechanism could represent a general process of recognition of viral infections by pDCs, by « scanning » the infectious status of the cells by cell-cell contacts. Our results also suggest that viral elements cluster at the level of contacts. These elements differ depending on the type of viral infection. Notably, we observed in the context of Dengue virus infection that non-infectious non-canonical viral structures, that differ from the « classical » viral infectious particles, play an important role in the activation of the antiviral response. Our work brings a new light in the mechanisms of pDC activation and in the host defense strategies against viral infection.

Surfaces are rough, unless special care is taken to make them atomically smooth. Roughness exists at all scales, and any surface-producing operation affects the roughness in certain degrees, specific to the production process. When two surfaces are brought close to each other, contact is established at many isolated locations. The number and size of these contact islands depend on the applied load, material properties of the surfaces and the nature of roughness. These contact islands affect the tribological properties of the contacting surfaces. The real contact area, which is the sum total of the area of contacting islands, is much smaller than the apparent contact area dictated by the macroscopic geometry of the contacting surfaces. Since the total load is supported by these contact islands, the local contact pressure will be very high, and dependent on the local microscopic geometry of the roughness. Thus understanding the deformation behaviour of the rough surfaces will lead to better understanding of friction and wear properties of the surfaces. In this work, the interaction of these contact islands with each other is studied when two surfaces are in contact and sliding past each other.
Asperities can be thought of as basic units of roughness. The geometry and the distribution of heights of asperities can be used to define the roughness. For example, one of the earliest models of roughness is that of hemispherical asperities carrying smaller hemispherical asperities on their back, which in turn carry smaller asperities, and soon. In the present study the asperities are assumed to be of uniform size, shape and distribution. Normal and tangential loading response of these asperities with a rigid indenter is studied through elastic-plastic plane strain finite element studies.
As a rigid indenter is loaded onto a surface with a regular array of identical asperities, initial contact is established at a single asperity. The plastic zone is initially confined within the asperity. When the load is increased ,the elastic-plastic boundary moves towards the free surface of the asperity, and the contact pressure decreases. The geometry and spacing are determined when the neighbouring asperities come into contact. The plastic zone in these asperities is constrained, and hence contact pressure sustained by these asperities is larger. As the indentation progresses, more asperities come into contact in a similar way. If a tangential displacement is now applied to the indenter, the von Mises stress contours shift in the direction of indenter displacement. As the tangential displacement increases, the number of asperities in contact with the indenter decreases gradually before reaching a steady sliding state.
The tangential sliding force experienced by the indenter arises from two components. One is the frictional resistance between the contacting surfaces and the other is due to the plastic deformation of the substrate. If the surface is completely elastic, it has been seen that the sliding force is purely due to the specified friction coefficient. For the smooth surface, as the subsurface makes the transition from purely elastic to confined plastic zone, plasticity breaks out on the free surface, hence the sliding force increases. For surfaces with asperities, even at very small load, the asperities deform plastically and hence the sliding force is considerably higher.
The frictional force is experimentally measured by sliding a spherical indenter on smooth and rough surfaces. These experimental results are qualitatively compared with two dimensional finite element results. It has been observed that for rough surface, sliding force is considerablyhigherthanthesmoothsurface,asisobservedinsimu-lations at lower loads. In contrast to the simulations, the sliding force decreases at higher loads for both the smooth and rough surfaces.

Partial Slip Contacts in Linear ViscoelasticityDayalan, Satish Kumar January 2016 (has links) (PDF)
This work analyzes partial slip contact problems in the theory of linear viscoelasticity using both the semi-analytical method and nite element method. Such problems arise in metal-polymer contacts in orthopedic implants and similar applications. The boundary conditions of such problems are inherently mixed and vary with time, thus restricting the use of classical correspondence principle, which have been the basic approach for most of the solved problems in viscoelasticity. In the present semi-analytical approach, the governing equations for the vis-coelastic partial-slip contact are formulated as a pair of coupled Singular Integral Equations (SIEs) for a pin-plate geometry using the viscoelastic analogues of Green's functions. The formulation is entirely in the time-domain, avoiding Laplace transforms. Both Coulomb and hysteretic e ects are considered, and arbitrary load histories, including the bidirectional pin loads and remote plate stresses, are allowed. Moreover, the contact patch is allowed to advance and recede with no restrictions. The presence of viscoelastic behavior necessitates the application of the stick zone boundary condition in convolved form, and also introduces additional convolved gap terms in the governing equations, which are not present in the elastic case. Transient, as well as steady-state contact tractions, are obtained under load-hold, unload-hold, unload-reload, cyclic bidirectional (fretting) and remote plate loading for a three-element delayed elastic solid. A wide range of loads, loading rates, friction coeficients and the conforming nature of the contact are considered. The contact size, stick-zone size, indenter approach, maximum pressure, Coulomb energy dissipation are tracked during fretting. The edge-of-contact stresses and the subsurface stresses for the viscoelastic plate due to the contact tractions are determined by solving an equivalent traction boundary value problem.
It is found that the viscoelastic fretting contact tractions for materials with delayed elastic nature shakedown just like their elastic counterparts. However, the number of cycles to attain shakedown states is strongly dependent on the ratio of the load cycle time to the relaxation time constant of the viscoelastic material. In monotonic load-hold case, the viscoelastic steady-state tractions agree well with the tractions from an equivalent elastic analysis using the shear modulus at infinite time. Whereas, the viscoelastic fretting tractions in shakedown differ considerably from their elastic counterparts. This is due to the fact that the contact patch does not increase monotonically in fretting-type(cyclic) loading. Hence, an approximate elastic analysis misleads to an incorrect edge-of-contact stresses. During fretting, the edge-of-contact hoop stress also shakedown and reaches its peak value at the trailing edge-of-contact when the horizontal pin load reaches its maximum.
Moreover, the peak tensile of the edge-of-contact hoop stress increases with the increase in the Coulomb friction coefficient. In cyclic loading, Coulomb dissipation in a cycle at steady-state is almost independent of the rate at which the load is cycled. However, the viscous energy dissipated in a cycle is a strong function of the ratio of the load cycle time to the relaxation time constant. The steady-state cyclic hysteretic energy dissipation typically dominates the cyclic Coulomb dissipation, with a more pronounced difference at slower load cycling. However, despite this, it is essential to model an accurate viscoelastic fretting contacts including the effects of both viscous and Coulomb friction dissipation to obtain accurate contact stresses.
A 12-element generalized Maxwell solid with long time scales representing a well characterized viscoelastic material like PMMA is also studied. The material chosen is of slowly relaxing nature and the ratio of the instantaneous shear modulus(G0) to the modulus at the infinite time(G1) is almost equal to 1000. In such cases, the material is effectively always in a transient state, with no steady edge-of-contact. As a consequence, the location of the peak hoop stress keeps on shifting when the load cycle is repeated. Interestingly, the rate at which the viscoelastic material relaxes affects the contact tractions. It is observed that the rapidly relaxing materials show qualitatively different tractions in the partial slip, with local traction spikes close to the edges-of-contact and concomitant high-stress gradients.
On the other hand, finite element method is also used to analyze the partial slip viscoelastic contacts. In FEA, the pin-plate geometry is modeled using a custom mesh maker, where a 2D-continuum plane strain element is used for the plate and rigid element for the pin. The technique uses 'ABAQUS Standard' solver to solve the contact problem. Finite element analysis for a wide range of loads comparable with the SIE technique is performed. The tractions and contact sizes for various load cases such as unload-reload, fretting-type cyclic loads from both SIE and FEA agrees well. In certain conditions, there exist multiple contact arcs or stick zones that are currently difficult to solve with SIE's. However, such problems are treated using FEA and one such problem is illustrated.

Stable Nanocrystalline Au Film Structures for Sliding Electrical ContactsMogonye, Jon-Erik 05 1900 (has links)
Hard gold thin films and coatings are widely used in electronics as an effective material to reduce the friction and wear of relatively less expensive electrically conductive materials while simultaneously seeking to provide oxidation resistance and stable sliding electrical contact resistance (ECR). The main focus of this dissertation was to synthesize nanocrystalline Au films with grain structures capable of remaining stable during thermal exposure and under sliding electrical contact stress and the passing of electrical current. Here we have utilized a physical vapor deposition (PVD) technique, electron beam evaporation, to synthesize Au films modified by ion implantation and codeposited ZnO hardened Au nanocomposites. Simultaneous friction and ECR experiments of low fluence (< 1x10^17 cm^-2) He and Ar ion implanted Au films showed reduction in friction coefficients from ~1.5 to ~0.5 and specific wear rates from ~4x10^-3 to ~6x10^-5 mm^3/N·m versus as-deposited Au films without significant change in sliding ECR (~16 mΩ). Subsurface microstructural changes of He implanted films due to tribological stress were analyzed via site-specific cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and revealed the formation of nanocrystalline grains for low energy (22.5 keV) implantation conditions as well as the growth and redistribution of cavities. Nanoindentation hardness results revealed an increase from 0.84 GPa for as-deposited Au to ~1.77 GPa for Au uniformly implanted with 1 at% He. These strength increases are correlated with an Orowan hardening mechanism that increases proportionally to (He concentration)1/3. Au-ZnO nanocomposite films in the oxide dilute regime (< 5 vol% ZnO) were investigated for low temperature aging stability in friction and ECR. Annealing at 250 °C for 24 hours Au-(2 vol%)ZnO retained a friction coefficient comparable to commercial Ni hardened Au of ~ 0.3 and sliding ECR values of ~35 mΩ. Nanoindentation hardness increases of these films (~2.6 GPa for 5 vol% ZnO) are correlated to microstructure via high resolution TEM and scanning electron microscope cross-sections to both Hall-Petch and Orowan strengthening mechanisms. Also presented is a correlation between electrical resistivity and grain size in the oxide dilute range based on the Mayadas-Shatzkes (M-S) electron scattering model. Using the M-S model in combination with a model describing solute drag stabilized grain growth kinetics we present a new technique to probe grain boundary mobility and thermal stability from in-situ electrical resistivity measurements during annealing experiments.

Réalisation de sources lumineuses à haut rendement lumen /$ à base d'hétérostructures GaN/AlGaNLeulmi, Rym Feriel January 2009 (has links)
Depuis quelques années, une révolution est en cours dans l'industrie des semiconducteurs de type III-V. Les composés azotés, comme le GaN et l'AlGaN ont permis l'apparition de nouvelles sources de lumière bleue, blanche et ultra-violette. Les sources blanches, plus particulièrement, possèdent un impressionnant potentiel commercial, car elles permettront de pénétrer l'immense marché de l'éclairage domestique et industriel. On peut déjà observer leur apparition dans l'industrie de l'automobile (éclairage de tableau de bord, phares de jour), de la signalisation routière (feux de circulation), et la téléphonie cellulaire (éclairage arrière des touches et de l'écran). En effet, les diodes électroluminescentes (DELs) blanches, fabriquées à base de GaN démontrent déjà une efficacité énergétique (en lumens/Watt) qui surpasse les technologies traditionnelles comme les ampoules incandescentes et les tubes fluorescents [IEA, 2006]. Cependant, plusieurs problèmes technologiques limitent l'efficacité des DELs, notamment l'expertise dans la fabrication du GaN. Il s'agit d'une technologie ayant une faible maturité notamment en comparaison avec les autres composés III-V à base de GaAs et InP utilisés traditionnellement dans les télécommunications. De plus, l'indice de réfraction élevé du matériau empêche plus de 93% des photons générés de s'échapper du dispositif, diminuant d'autant l'efficacité. Plusieurs méthodes d'optimisation de la luminosité des DELs sont disponibles dans la littérature. Le détachement du substrat et le collage de la diode à l'envers sur un matériau conducteur est une des méthodes exploitées. Ces méthodes, souvent trop dispendieuses à cause de leur complexité, ont néanmoins démontré un grand potentiel d'amélioration de l'efficacité des dispositifs à base de GaN. L'objectif du projet consiste à développer un procédé de fabrication de DELs bleues dans le but d'augmenter considérablement (x 3) l'intensité lumineuse émise par rapport à des approches de fabrication standard et en utilisant des approches de fabrication à faible coût. Ce document présente une revue de littérature du sujet, de ses problématiques, des objectifs de projet en cours et des méthodes à mettre en oeuvre pour les réaliser dans un délai prescrit.
