Previous issue date: 2013-03-19 / The main objective of this study was to test if fish assemblages along
Veríssimo river varied spatially and temporally in relation to the functional descriptors
trophic guild and length class. In four stretches of the river, we sampled species
quarterly between April/2008 and June/2009 using five traps (minnow-traps) and four
sessions with gillnet. We selected sixteen species for the analyses which were
present in all sampled points. We constructed a functional matrix for each descriptor
considering relative abundance data (%). For each matrix we performed a nonparametric
analysis (Kruskal-Wallis) followed by a post hoc analysis (multiple
analyses) to verify if there are differences between the four sampling points of the
river. We realized a Spearman correlation analysis between each matrix and the river
width and, then, a Principal Component Analyses (PCA) to verify if sampling points
could be ordered by the functional descriptors. All analyses above were performed
using the software Statistica 7. We tested temporal synchrony of the functional
descriptors using each functional matrix for a multiple co-inertia analysis (ACOM).
These analyses were performed in software ADE-4. Differences between four points
sampled were higher than expected by chance for trophic guild and length classes
(p<0,0001 for both descriptors). Our post hoc analysis indicated differences higher
than expected by chance between points P3 and P4 for trophic guild (p <0,01) and
length classes (p<0,001), however, these differences are not correlated with river
width. PCA analyses demonstrated that species from length class A (71,22%) and
omnivores (30%) were more associated with point P4 while iliophagous fishes
(56,17%) and those belonging to length class B (53,64%) are more associated with
point P2. ACOM results demonstrated that points P2 (COS2 = 6,425 e 01; COV2 =
4,654 e + 00; RV = 0,82) and P3 (COS2 = 8,156 e - 01; COV2 = 3,186 e + 00; RV =
0,87) have a variation in their temporal pattern similar for what is expected for trophic
guild and have a better synchrony. In the case of length classes, points P3 (RV =
0,82) and P4 (RV = 0,81) presents a better synchrony. Starting from the fifth
sampling (January), we observed changes in the synchrony of functional descriptors.
Spatial and temporal patterns of distribution from fish assemblages in Veríssimo river
seems to reflect seasonality and the migratory behavior of the species
Steindachnerina insculpta.
As análises acima descritas

The River Continuum Concept (RCC) suggests that changes in physico-chemical factors across the stream longitudinal gradient leads to the adding of species of different feeding habits. In this sense, the aim of the study is the trophic characterization of fish headwater species from subtropical streams and to identify energy flow between macroinvertebrate and fishes. It is expected that detritivorous fish standing crop increase across stream longitudinal gradient due to increase in primary production in the same direction. This study was carried out in 32 streams from 1st to 4thorder in eight microbasins in the Sinos River basin. Ichthyofauna was sampled with electric fishing in 100m2 sections. Macroinvertebrates were sampled with Surber sampler to assess resource availability and primary consumer standing crop. Richness and diversity of fish communities were also calculated. The diet of the most abundant fish species was assessed as well as relative importance and niche amplitude indexes. The results displayed that fish diversity, richness and standing crop increased across stream longitudinal gradient corroborating RCC postulates. It was also indicated that fish communities was composed by two feeding groups (insetivorous and detritivorous). The detritivorous fishes have in turn increased fish standing crop and established two directions of energy flow which act as both primary and secondary consumers.

A MUSICAL-HISTORICAL STUDY OF ITALIAN INFLUENCES IN THREE REGINA CAELI OF THE FRENCH BAROQUE PERIODDuclos, Marie-France 01 January 2019 (has links)
The French baroque petit motet was the most prolific genre of seventeenth-century France. In this study, three petits motets, specifically Regina caeli settings of French composers Marc-Antoine Charpentier, Nicolas Bernier and François Couperin are examined with an emphasis on the motets’ historical context in relation to the French monarchy and the Italian concepts that the composers incorporated into each work. All three Regina caeli settings display some Italian compositional techniques of the stile moderno in various degrees and were written in different contextual ecclesiastic milieux.
The intersections of, as well as distinctions between, musical ideas of traditional French style and Italian innovations was at the center of music and musical discourse during the baroque period. The French were introduced to Italian style by travelling musicians at the court of France; however, when Louis XIV gave Jean-Baptiste Lully the important position of surintendant de la musique, the idea of an authentic unaltered French sound became prevalent among musicians and critics. Lully, strongest defender of “pure” French style, created a strict environment for musicians at court, and only after his death, did composers gain in freedom. The study suggests that a closer association to Louis XIV permitted musicians to integrate more of the Italian stile moderno techniques than those who did not have this opportunity. Crucial figures of the French monarchy, Louis XIV, Philippe II d’Orléans and the duc de Bourgogne were connected to the three composers central to this project and impacted the outcome of their work. With the musical-historical study of three Regina caeli settings, this project demonstrates the importance of the petit motet genre within the repertoire and the need for additional research to increase the accessibility of this inestimable music

La basse continue dans l'oeuvre poétique de Jean-Michel Maulpoix / The "Basse continuo" in the poems by Jean-Michel MaulpoixGrossi, Gabriel 15 January 2015 (has links)
Author of many collections of poems since 1978, Jean-Michel Maulpoix is one of the most important poets of his generation. He is also known as a theoretician. His poetry is influenced by our times, and it shares its doubts and uneasiness. But the poet also gives an universal dimension to his poems, even if all marks of subjectivity are not erased. The poems often seem to search an ideal of appeasement. This dissertation analyses both themes and style : it aims at showing that this tension between uneasiness and appeasement is very important in many collections of poems by Jean-Michel Maulpoix, in their themes, form, enunciation, and rhythm. It uses the musical concepts of “basso ostinato” and “basso continuo”, not to suggest a confusion between poetry and music, but as metaphors of the obstinacy of the writing itself. The poems by Jean-Michel Maulpoix prefer continuity to ruptures, a kind of continuity that does not exclude variation, even into the rhythm of sentences and poems.

The mystery of the Mystery sonatas : a musical rosary picture bookStrieck, Katia. January 1999 (has links)
Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber's (1644--1704) Mystery Sonatas of 1676 are a set of fifteen sonatas for violin and continuo plus one unaccompanied passacaglia for solo violin. They are unusual in their use of scordatura and in the presence of an image associated with the Rosary devotion before each sonata. This association between image and music in the sonatas, and the correspondence to the fifteen mysteries of the Rosary closely resembles the structure of seventeenth-century Rosary picture books. / In this thesis the context, background, and meaning of the sonatas is explored. The first chapter examines the function of the sonatas and places them in context by outlining musical life in Salzburg, the sonata tradition, the Rosary devotion, Emblem books, and Rosary picture books. The second chapter focuses more on the collection as a whole and on elements such as key, dance affect, and scordatura. The third chapter consists of an examination of three sonatas---each one unique in placing the listener in a different relation to the mystery.

Cantata XVIa. "La bella fiamma ò Tirsi"Heinichen, Johann David 23 June 2011 (has links) (PDF)
