Finalmente, o terceiro cap?tulo constr?i uma an?lise detalhada de poemas selecionados de cinco cole??es diferentes: State of Justice (1977), The Strange Museum (1980) Liberty Tree (1983), Fivemiletown (1987) e The Wind Dog (1999). A primeira parte analisa poesia e pol?tica, a segunda investiga poesia e hist?ria, e o terceiro subcap?tulo examina poesia e linguagem. / This dissertation examines contemporary Northern Irish Literature written in English with the help of the theoretical approach of Irish Studies. It aims to introduce and make a critique of poetry written by Tom Paulin, a contemporary British poet who is regarded one of the major Protestant Irish writers to emerge from Ulster province. The thread pursued in this analysis relates to an investigation of how ideological discourses and the issues of identity are represented in the poet s work. The author s critical evaluation of existing ideologies and identities and his attempt to respond to them will also be analyzed. To perform this analysis, this dissertation is divided into three chapters. The first chapter presents an account of historical events in Ireland from its conquest to the present focusing in Northern Ireland after partition by the Anglo-Irish Treaty of 1922. The second chapter is dedicated to a reflection on the establishment of Irish national literature written in English and its close relation to Irish social and political history. Finally, the third chapter is dedicated to a detailed analysis of selected poems from five different collections: State of Justice (1977), The Strange Museum (1980) Liberty Tree (1983), Fivemiletown (1987) and The Wind Dog (1999). In order to investigate the issues of identity and ideology, this chapter is divided in three sections according to three important recurring themes. The first section analyzes poetry and politics; the second investigates poetry and history and the third evaluates poetry and Language. Among the authors consulted to form the basis of the discussion are Terry Eagleton, Edward Said, Seamus Deane, Elmer Andrews, Norman Vance, Peter MacDonald, Sara Broom, Patr?cia Craig, Neil Corcoran, and John Goodby. Most of them belong to this specific line of Postcolonial literature that is called Irish Studies.

Read through the concept of evidence paradigm of Carlo Ginzburg, in which marginal data of a work may reveal a larger information, the references to Buddha and Buddhism, which are highlighted in this research, would spell out that the Buddhist presence is not merely peripheral on the work of the author, but is even significant for the construction of a reading proposal for Grande sert?o: veredas. Nonetheless, once we analyze the 20th century productions, we can observe the expressive number of men who write for the theater. Ever since early times, women's play-writing has been reduced due to the socially instituted condition of marginalization of the female figure. In general, it is compared to the writing of men, being, hence, analyzed in light of the canon of male domination. When tracking the drama production from the period in question, we can identify the work of some important writers, especially Consuelo de Castro. Her texts express the concern about the female's social condition in Brazil along different periods of the country's history .Thus, the playwright reveals the transformations suffered by women along the years. This dissertation has focus on the study of Consuelo de Castro, in at least three distinct moments of sir career, focusing the image of the woman represented in ? flor da pele (1969), Louco Circo do Desejo (1983) e Only You (2001).

Lu?s Peixoto emerges in Portuguese literature scenario with a particular writingstyle. By exploring different language aspects and with a huge literary production, Peixoto calls attention because of the way he builds the narrators of his books. This study aims to look into the verification of the different constitution of the narratorspresent in the novel Cemit?rio de Pianos, published in 2006. By reading the work, along with a theoretical corpus constituted by Wayne Booth, Terry Eagleton, Maria L?cia Dal Farra and Robert Humphrey, we analyze the processes of creation and formation of these narrators, as well as the presentation techniques of a fragmented narrative. Thus, our analysis looks for features that indicate the characteristics of a narrator who destabilizes the reader, who, in turn, reconfigures the literary work. / Jos?

Quadros, Carla de 22 August 2014 (has links)

No. of bitstreams: 1 462296.pdf: 15380938 bytes, checksum: f9eace3defe0866b190f1ae8582913db (MD5) Previous issue date: 2014-08-22 / The memorialistic writing by Isa?as Alves in Vida e obra do Bar?o de Macahubas (1942), Voca??o pedag?gica de Rui Barbosa (1959) and Matas do Sert?o de Baixo (1967) has made a significant contribution to the discussion of stylistic boundaries, as well as to the analysis of rhetorical narrative of which he has made use, in a state of memorious narrator, intending to relate the memory report and the story writing. It is possible to observe the impressionist details of the narrator in his attempt to understand how Isa?as Alves articulates his narrative production, considered memorialistic, reaching out to different text formats biography, autobiography, and memoir but always giving priority to the inscription of the self. This study has tried to map the stylistic boundaries among Literature, Social History, Social and Collective Memory, present in texts, considered hybrid, revisiting History, Literary Theory and concepts employed in genres such as (auto) biography, memoir and others in order to reconsider the paths which confirm the assertion that the presence of memory in Isa?as Alves and his (auto) biographical variations adjust to an interdisciplinary dialogue that, although displaying a nostalgic slant, also commits to historiography, while signing a pact with himself. This suggests an intimate engagement marked by the place and position of the author/narrator. It is possible to observe in Isa?as Alves an organic and positivist intellectual, who performed several public functions, without reaching the representativeness that others did, and which he rightly thought he deserved, in establishing relevant relations between history and memory through biographical and autobiographical reports. We defend, firstly, the initiative of placing the works mentioned here in the context of Brazilian literature, removing the classification wrappings mistakenly placed by scholars; reviewing the journey of a forgotten, or silenced, intellectual by virtue of his political choices, but admittedly a memorialist narrator who, mapping his sentimental impressions, could review the historic path of education in a tone which reminds us of the epics, in addition to the author s concerns about organizing files raising him to the category of guardian the memories of Rec?ncavo Sul Baiano and his own. To establish the analytical dialogue, theoreticians such as Philipe Lejeune (2008) Leonor Arfuch (2010), Francoise Dosse (2009), Diana Klinger (2012), Roland Barthes (1984), Luiz Costa Lima (1991) and Daniel P?caut (1990), among others, have been examined.

Coutinho, Ilmara Valois Bacelar Figueiredo 29 August 2014 (has links)

No. of bitstreams: 1 462825.pdf: 1983920 bytes, checksum: 99c55eb0221d27ddc6cadcd089829f4f (MD5) Previous issue date: 2014-08-29 / This thesis investigates the constant fragment of contemporary prose, having as empirical universe, the literary works They were many horses (Eles eram muitos cavalos) by Luiz Ruffato (2013) and ? by Nuno Ramos (2008). In the seam of the undisciplined rooting that goes amalgamating themes, speeches, points of view, languages, space-times, among other territorialities put in dispersion, the poetic of fragment is built up through the intemperatedness of "eternal return" (Nietzsche, 1999 ), which expressiveness discusses the shattered, self-reflexive and multireferenced condition of the contemporaneity. It is a literature of multi-referential nature, theoretically founded by Agamben (2013), Barthes (2003, 2004, 2007a, 2007b, 2009), Bauman (1998, 2005), Benjamin (1987, 1994, 2000, 2009), Blanchot (2005, 2010a, 2010b, 2011), Canclini (2008), Dalcastagn? (2012), Deleuze & Guattari (1977, 1995), Deleuze (1990), Derrida (2001, 2005), Dias (2011), Foucault (2000, 2007, 2011), Hall (2003), Meffesoli (2007), Mos? (2005), Nietzsche (1999), Schollhammer (2011), Steiner (2012), Vaihinger (2011), among other authors. During the study, it was possible to deepen the perception that the order of the fragment, in the literary works studied here, is the order of roaming as much the writing will shape up lacunar, nomadic, unpredictable, as the propensity to apply for readings based on the clash of the (im) possibilities concerning the construction of the senses. The results indicate a prose geared to disallow exclusivist territorialities to differentiated spheres of knowledge, questioning the power of language by exposing ruins-powers that can multiply in the silent intervals that constitute them. The poetic of fragment is a literature of thresholds margins, requesting reader crossroad grip as well as drawing a pessimistic critique of capitalist societies, whose values of spectacle bear the misery of social existence and the trivialization of life.

In this sense, a previous incursion in the world of Photography and its intersections among several literary works will trigger the starting point. Photographers as Marey, Muybridge, Nakaji Yusui, Alfred Stieglitz illustrate the permeable way that the art of writing through light relates to other kinds of art. Duane Michals shows his avant-garde photographic narrative, and Leonardo da Vinci reveals how the art of the numbers works in eye-catching images. As a contribution Roland Barthes sews up the theory of these worlds amongst Susan Sontag, Derrida, Hegel and Benjamin, turning possible a safe landing in Istambul where, in the end, the study about Pamuk s text, which is illustrated with Ara G?ler s photographic work, culminates. The search here takes another bias and Sebald helps doing a counterpoint: writing the text with the pictures that were previously chosen versus subsequent choice, that is the way Pamuk does seeking in G?ler s Istambul the h?z?n eye as genuine as his own.

From the reading of works such as Na praia da Ferrugem, Ins?nia and A primeira vez e muitas vacas, all written by Marcelo Carneiro da Cunha, we intend to conduct an analyses of who the characters, respectively, are: Maria, Cl?udia and Vita, all adolescents at the age of 15. In addition, we aim to understand the trajectories of the protagonists to reach in its entirety, ie, the other to then try to understand the maximum degree of alterity, adolescent sexuality. The theorist we used for this purpuse are the most varied, as Zygmunt Bauman, Stuart Hall, Joseph Campbell and Georges Bataille. Through a discussion between theory and analyses, we also inquire what can be considered juvenile literature, which are its main themes and conflicts, its characteristics, to then achieve more comprehensive definitions.
